WTF PG/VG going up 13 - 25% because of FDA reg. How can that be

In an e-mail I got today from essential depot and I quote.



Dear Dan,

As of August 1st 2016 the price of Essential Depot's 4 Gallon VG and PG GlyCubes are going up by a minimum of 13% (from $39.00 to at least $44.00). As VG/PG customer I wanted to give you the chance to stock up and beat the price increases.

The upcoming Feb 2017 Federal E-Cig Regulations have caused a spike in sales to the 5000+ vape Shops we supply. The associated demand spike across the industry has caused VG and PG prices to go up significantly. Our manufacturer and supplier is giving us one more week to purchase at our current price. Please help keep your price as low as possible by ordering at the current price before August 1st.

This should not be happening but as mentioned in another post when this FDA madness first started. They speculated that products not effected by FDA regs but related to the vaping industry may see a higher demand because of panic buying and this may spike up the price of these goods. Well it's happening.

Well that stinks but I am not surprised at the increase, thing of it is though if you buy in large amounts the price should go down not up, in that aspect it does not make sense. ED has always charged (a lot) more for their PG/VG if you bought in small amounts.

In the scheme of things, the price of PG/VG is not worrying to me. Even with a price increase, it's still pretty cheap. In another thread, someone speculated that the demand was not from people/shops mixing juice, but from suppliers mixing down nic base. That makes sense to me.

Expected. It will come back down, but not nearly as quickly and not as much. It's the way things go.

You can get like 4 cubes for 50 bucks that will last the DIY'er a long time. I order the 4 cube over a year ago and I am halfway through the 2nd cube

Are vape shops are making enough e liquid before August 8 to keep themselves in business for the next two years? Somebody wrote somewhere that one of the tobacco companys will introduce 300 new flavors before the deadline (rumor). No doubt we've seen so many new devices introduced because of trying to meet this deadline. It's still hard to believe that vaping could distort a market as gigantic as VG and PG.

What size are you buying? I checked the site, 10#? Is that a couple of gallons?

Simple solution is to buy Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine from anyone who isn't in the vaping industry. Would save customers the bother of having to listen to the BS vape vendors conjure up to take advantage of customers given the current circumstances.

Eh? Essential Depot caters primarily to the DIY soap crowd. I'm pretty sure they've been around longer than the vape industry has.
