XS116 is silica braided tubing, XC116 is ceramic braided tubing. I haven't tried the ceramic yet (due to ordering the wrong stuff from the same place you did.... doh) so I can't tell you about the difference in flavor/hit etc but I can tell you the XS116 works pretty well. I was able to heat mine up with a torch to the point it glowed orange and it didn't burn away or give me a burnt taste.
Right now I've got a small bit of it over the top of some 1/16" OD 7x7 316 stainless rope with a kanthal ribbon coil and it's hitting great. Clouds of vapor and a good flavor coming through. Eventually I will try the ceramic but for now, this is vaping to well for me to mess with.

I have some XS arriving, can't wait. They say you can vape it alone or you can coat your ss Mesh with it.
It has a lower Burn point than the XC[982'C verse 1200'c] but it's still high enough that it shouldn't burn on a E-Cig

This page has the specs. Look for the word silica on the right side to find out the XS Rating.

I plan on trying a Coated SS Mesh setup.

By the way this thread had the temperature of the coils at different colors

So with the XC you are 100% safe with the XS you are probably safe.

Faint Red 950-1050º F
Dark Red 1150-1250º F
Dark Cherry 1175-1275º F
Cherry Red 1300-1400º F
Bright Cherry 1475-1575º F
Dark Orange 1650-1750º F
Orange 1750-1850º F
Yellow 1800-1900º F

That is pretty cool, but when vaping unless you are getting dry hits you shouldnt be getting any red out of your coil, again as long as you aren't taking dry hits

Put it this way. Cotton has a much lower burning point than both.

So, unless you intend to dry burn it until the coil is orange, and try to inhale the result, you're fine.

Bigger concern is what other differences are there between XC and XS besides the failure temperature. As in, does it last as long. I haven't tried to use XS for longer than a week (I keep rebuilding my coils), but during that time, it performed very well. Nice wicking, no muted flavor.
