In the first videos on this thread...the fella' demonstrates how to do one quote...

Then (without explaining what he's doing)...he goes somewhere in some settings...and sets up the option for multiquotes.

Would you explain how to get the "multiquote option" (or will it be ON by default)?

It will be on by default. You won't be able to change it. That demo was for the people setting up the sites permissions but it gave the best demo for members on how to use the multi-quote :)

the forums which they do or don't count aren't going to change either.

Out of curiousity, and maybe this is the wrong place for this, but why is that?

Folks can post 100 times in a day in a contest and it ups their post count, but folks in other areas of the forum that are providing a help or a service don't get those posts counted. Seems that if post counts are to be recognized (and people in this thread have mentioned the value), then they should be utilized in a manner that actually reflects someones posts. I can certainly understand The Lounge and The Classifieds, but not Co-Ops (which btw doesn't specify that posts aren't counted like the other forums do).

Yes, I get that. I just don't really get why Co-Ops are excluded. By definition, they're co-operatives: an autonomous association of persons who voluntarily cooperate for their mutual, social, economic, and cultural benefit.

If voluntarily cooperating with other members for group benefit isn't worthy of adding to post count, it's hard to imagine why anything else is.

Slight bummer, as I prefer as many as possible (40 or more).

I do 40 per page also, but maybe having it all the same will be nice. Often someone who is defaulted at 10 per page will say a certain something is on page 40, well.....I hate math!! lol Not a huge deal to me either way, just tryin to see a bright side. :)

That's awesome on the smileys and pics!!

I'm with you, Mr. Ock. I had thoughts already of starting that little "curmudgeons" thread, but then thought better of it. I LIKE where this is going! I like the transport to a more techno advanced software, and I will gladly join you in assisting people in their understanding and use of it.

Bravo ECF. Bravo. :toast:

Me, too - glad I stumbled across this. Will be looking for and collecting stuff about the new software this weekend so I can help others with it if necessary! :toast:

Maybe I missed it, but if not, this should be a site-wide announcement so folks can get prepared. When is the switch-over? VERY exciting!

Okay - I don't want to jump to far ahead here, however I do have a slight concern after rereading an earlier post of "Your's" (#3) and some of the "stuff" available on the "Xenforo" website (YES - I am doing "My" research so I can be prepared for the change over and also be able to help others), including the Resources/Forum section that deals with the "Social Media Integration" that will be offered - and more specifically about Privacy . . .

It seems with the new software that it will be even easier for people to "share" directly with even more "Social Media" sites . . . AND - If I remember correctly, when "Facebook" was first integrated on ECF there was an uproar by a number of people (including "Myself") who found it very intrusive to have all these "Links and Buttons" across the thread headers. SO - Thankfully, ECF Administration saw the light and "We' were able to select and opt-out of "Social Media" and "Disable social buttons shown in the forum header" through "General Settings" on "Our" Profile page . . .

Given this, I would like to know if "We" will be able to . . . 1) Disable/Opt-out having the "Social Media" links again ? ? ?

AND - Even More Importantly, given that what I personally "share" here on ECF is meant only for ECF Members 2) Is there going to be any way to prevent people from "Sharing" our personal post directly with other's outside of ECF through their "Social Media" by using the links here on ECF ? ? ?

BTW: I do understand and know that nothing is really "private" on the Internet and that this is an open forum which many people can access, even those who are not members, who can come and read what people have said in their post. However, I would rather not see that people can/could "Share" what I have posted on ECF as easily as just linking a post or multi-quoting post to their "Social Media", especially without "My" Permission . . .

Just a concern and if not available yet, hopefully something that ECF Administration will possibly think about implementing into the software . . . THANKS ! ! !

the switchover is planned for this weekend and i'm sure there will be a site-wide banner across the top of every page once a definite time is picked ;)

I did not see this asked and if it was then I apologize up front.

As far as our subscriptions - will our subscription to closed threads be maintained? Some are great resources - at least for us, but at the same time - I do not see the need of keeping every closed thread in the universe available - hard decision...
