Something like this?

new%20dude..%20%20%20E%20Cigarette%20Forum_zpsuciwbliz.png
Is that on there?! Ha! If it is, completely ignore my post (probably wise to do that most of the time anyway.) I'll have to start paying attention to that then...ok - my problem is solved.....

Edit - okay - went looking. Found a 'new member' that joined yesterday. Found a 'full member' that joined Wednesday. So, back to my original suggestion.

And no more 'strike-through' font???? Maybe I was the only one that used it.... Thanks, Sonic!!

BTW - Here is a Good Example of what I was saying about Post Count and Join Date.

Is this person a Seasoned ECF Vet moving up to rba's and will understand a bunch of e-Cigarette Lingo ? Or maybe someone who has not been vaping very Long and is Very New to the ECF?

He's a 37 Year Old Male with 8 posts that just joined today.

It is NOT critical. It does not matter. In less than a week your brain will point your eyes below the avatar to see the username first. You won't remember what the old forum looked like. Get over it.

Sorry to jump on your post, JA. It is just one of a couple of posts harping on a most insignificant issue.

It's ok, but for me it is important - not so much the avatar/ name thing, rather date, location and posts. Yes I know, just click

Guess I just Not a big believer on having to constantly Click on things. I'm into Less Clicking verses More Clicking.

Is there some Downside to showing a person's Join date under their Avatar?

Part of the reason is to keep the software from doing a query on the database every time a page gets loaded. The more stuff we have that needs to make a query, the slower the system responds.

AND - What all "Your" Friends" are doing on ECF . . . ;)

AND - On that note, a question . . .NOTHING VERY IMPORTANT . . . Just a question . . .

With the new interface all "Our" ECF Friends are now split into 2 different categories those that follow - "Followers" and those that you are following - "Following" . . .Which I hopefully assume correctly, is based on who does the "Asking" to become "Friends" from this point on . . . However, Is there anyway (even if it can be done sometime in the future) that all "Our" ECF Friends can be put into one group or the other, especially since with most of "My" ECF Friends I gratefully accepted their request to become "Friends" . . . THANKS ! ! !

AND - Again, Nothing very important or should take a high priority in the list of "Stuff" that NEEDS to be done or fixed right away . . . ;)

ok, uncheckin that box! Thanks lol

GOOD LUCK - With That . . . Just Sayin' . . .;)

Knowing I can see that info if I need it for some reason with just one click and the benefit of it not taking up real estate with every post seems to be a plus to me.

Well, with all due respect, the huge ECF supporting member badge and the mood indicator take up more real estate than a few small lines indicating post count, location and/or ECF Veteran status.

The way I reply to a post will be very different when I know, right away, that a person asking a question is a new member from Singapore, my neighbor from California who's been a member for years, or the ECF founder. ;)

I've been answering (and asking) questions on this forum for 5.5 years--and I always, always look at the poster's stats--I like to know who's asking or answering my question without having to investigate their history. I don't much care what mood they're in--I know that right away, anyway. :D

BTW, the ECF Veteran Status has a long and rich tradition here and we still welcome and celebrate members who reach that milestone... What's the point of doing that now, when they don't even get the ECF Veteran badge?

I understand that changes have to be made, I'm not against changes, but I think we should try to preserve our traditions and customs--and not throw away the good, useful and familiar features for no reason at all.

Stupid question...

I got an email notification that another user has sent me a pm(via conversation). The email also displays the message content.

However, on ECF I have no new conversation, message or alert.???

I tried clicking on the emails link but it ends on ECF stating "this conversation doesn't exist"??

Help?

Stupid answer: Have you tried clicking on Inbox? Next to Alerts...
Then click on the word Conversations. That will show all your conversations. I know, it is probably a stupid answer....

You might have your alerts for new conversations off?

Another thought, is it a conversation or a message? If a message, click on your Name then click on Profile Page, above the box that has all the options but below your name/avatar. You will see any profile messages there.

First of all, we're still tweaking things under the hood, so stop sweating over the loss of the Vet title. As for post counts and things that dynamically change as a user posts, this is by design. The forum software hides those things to reduce the amount of queries being passed to the database with each post, page refresh and page change, thereby increasing the efficiency of the software and making the servers much happier in the process.

Some things that don't change (images, signatures, moods, etc.) are cached. Again, allowing the software to handle things much more effeciently.

As such, some things we're used to doing one way may need adjusting as we work with the new software.
