both the small and large screen authentic dna come with mounting rails. its up to you to cut them off.

not true my friend. large screen yes. small screen for the most part do not have rails. theyve been removed on almost all small screen authentic boards ive purchased including the one i have sitting here...and ive bought quite a few! :)

ive been itching to mod, so last night i totally disassembled the clown. the clone board is identical in size and solder pad placement. the difference is that the clone board has rails attached, and the dna40 authentic comes without. ill try to take pics of the build. looks very straight forward.

i noticed the hex grub nut on the 510 has nothing to do with the ground and is basically a useless item. the 510 casing screws into the mod body, grounding it to the mod. there was a bit of hot glue as shown in other pics in this thread. easy enough to remove.

more later...

Great! Looking forward to the pics and the end result!

i dunno where youre buying them from but every small screen ive bought came with the rails. i had to cut them off. unless this is a new thing evolv is doing, it should come with rails small screen or not. i dont see the advantage of having one less mounting option. dna40.jpg

bought them direct from evolv...could actually be a new thing that evolv is doing since i havent bought boards in a good long time.
either way i wanna do the same thing with a clown stick. rails or no rails the board will be an awesome upgrade. make sure you post some pics of your endeavor and any pointers to make the swap easier. good luck.:thumb:

Got mine from fasttech. It's the first version. I hate how the vape weakens as the battery runs out. Once it goes less than half, you'll notice the drop in voltage. Haven't had the ohms too high issue though. It vapes well with a fresh battery, but when it reaches the half mark... Meh.

Anyone know what chips will fit? I Want to replace it. In the meantime, it's back to the subox for me.[/QUOTE
What are you using for batteries? Mine are error free when I use my efest 35 amp batteries. .issues happen when I use lower amp batteries

Partial Quote .....

"According to my order history, it's sku 3574401.

The finish does scratch easily, I already have some on mine from my wedding ring.

The OLED is white though (crazelee mentions blue with the first version).

The issue I have is performance. It vapes well at first, but tapers as the battery dies".

Since you have the Fasttech SKU 3574401, you certainly do have the 1st version that Fastech sells. The newest version (listed on 10/30/2015) is SKU 3708700.

You stated that the finish scratches easily ... I thought the finish on these was hard anodized aluminum and not paint ... Maybe that 1st version is in fact painted (and not anodized) .... if so, that's too bad!

Poor finish and a chipset that for some reason won't maintain the correct voltage / watts as set in the device is just a no-go for me.

I ordered the newest version from Fasttech only 1 day ago. The website says: Ships in 5 business days
ETA: 11/14/2015 (7 days)
.

I may just ask Fasttech to refund my money on this clone since they have not shipped it yet.

I really have no clue how to tell the difference :) the finish is a bit smoother than the authentic, but I if I woul dhave to guess than I don't think it's paint (doesn't feel like it and I would have thought it woud have scratched already, I did take it out quite alot)...but that's just a guess...sorry that I can't be more helpfull

I received the Focale group buy one in black (ordered 1 October) a couple of days ago its anodized and exactly the same as the blue 3fvape I ordered in September, same board and hotglue placement inside! :) It has the mini cig logo and Xvostick text.

I noticed when looking at the Fasttech A&B listed clones they appear to have squarer buttons than the 3fvape and Focale ones. I am hoping to have some time this week and have already bought a Vaporshark rDNA40 so i can use the board when upgrading one of the clones. :)

I haven't receive my xvostick yet but i am already in the lookout on way to swap the chip with authentic dna40. I'm glad that you guys are planning for it and I hope there is someone here who have successfully swapped the chip, wouldn't mind sharing the step with photo with it. I hope I am not breaking any rule here but i am thinking this might be useful for those who are interested. Google search "XVOSTICK 3FVape Clone - Elektronisches Rauchen Forum", visiting that forum on the fourth page, you can see some photos shared with the chip taken out. It's a german forum and i have zero knowledge in the language so I'm only using google translate to assist me understanding the text.

got everything soldered and put together, tested with bottom plate off. worked perfect. hastily putting the bottom plate on to start using i crunched the screen. still works amazing, and can read most of the screen as it wasn't the worst screen crack ive seen, not ideal, but man the dna40 makes the difference.
