Buying a rechargeable electronic cigarette will be MUCH cheaper than buying disposables.
And buying bottles of juice to refill your electronic cigarette is MUCH cheaper than buying prefilled cartridges.

And if you are really motivated, making your own juice is MUCH cheaper than buying it.
I am not that motivated, and never will be, but many just love making their own.
:)

As long as the size doesn't bother you, I would echo the recommendations for the Ego Twist battery.
The hard part is going to be figuring out what juice delivery method you want to use with it.

When I think about it, I do want something that's not so cumbersome that I can't take it with me to bars or nightclubs. But on the other hand the eGo seems like so much of a logical choice that it may be worth it to buy an occasional disposable if need be. BUT... on the other hand, all I need is something to get me off these analogs for good. The disposables work (kind of... I'm drinking now and it's pushing my analog cravings) and if there's a rechargeable cig around that can do the trick I'm fine with that... but on the other hand it seems that everyone winds up moving away from those... lol I don't know it's still all so new to me but I'm taking it all in...

I've watched a few youtube videos and I must say that a lot of the eGos look really sweet, larger than an e-cig but really sweet, and the vapor clouds are nice too...

By the way, when you say juice delivery are you referring to carthos vs clearos? I'm still trying to learn the lingo and what is what.

Bottom line is as of now I cannot afford to buy disposables on a semi daily basis... and I'm trying my best not to go back to a pack of analogs at this point.... though I am a week away from having the disposable income to invest in the proper vaping tools.

Maybe I have to go analog for one more week? ugghh I sure hate the idea of that, I've done pretty well so far with just the occasional emergency smokes.

Wow I haven't roamed the welcome to ecf threads in a while glad to see everyone calmed down and don't start recommending provari and high end mods... Ego is a good starting point but for most who stay with vaping you either lend it out or it sits in your stash. I recommend you step past that and go with a VV device you can't go wrong and it opens up your choices such as what carto, atty, rebuildable you wind up using, chances are you will use them all..
Good luck and welcome to vaping..
O juice wow you can waste a lot here try to look at vendor sub forums read reviews (and not from there site) and sample packs is what I recommend to start with. A battery holder a battery and a device to heat it are all useless if what you buy taste like dog food.

Welcome to vaping Spainman! I'm 2 weeks without analogs! My tattoo artist turned me on to vaping and told me about a local Vape Store that sells all kinds of gear and makes their own liquid in house. I went and bought an ego starter kit for $75. I had no clue how big Vaping was until I stumbled upon sites like this. This site has been a wealth of information! I love my ego but only 2 short weeks later I'm wishing I had something variable voltage. I've spent a bit of time reading online but I've also been able to try different equipment at my local store and actually see and taste the difference! I would recommend getting an ego twist for sure and get some tanks! Also if you are like me and want to try a bunch of juices get yourself a 510 or a 306 atty and a tip so that when those sampler packs arrive in the mail you can sample away!!! I'm still trying to figure out the details with the gear but I'm know I'm much closer after just two weeks. The store I go to sells tanks with a carto inside and those work much better than the clearos with the wicks! I like the ego and the tanks because I'm always on the go and it is still somewhat compact but when I'm home I like dripping different flavs! Have a blast vaping there is no need to go back to analOGs. The vape world is much better!! Happy vaping!

The eGo twist is probably the best way to go for a newbie. The threads work with almost everything out there, and most people agree they are worth having, even in an advanced vaper's collection. If you are looking for a kit, try Valley View Vapes - they have a nice twist starter package going that comes with a nice collection of goods (a couple vision clearos, a nice polypro carto tank, two twist batteries, charger and case) for a decent price.

So, once you've got that set, juice is all you need. Tastes are subjective, so try a bunch of different vendors. There's a plethora of links around this forum, have fun. And relax, you'll for sure be spending less than you would on cigs, especially in the long run.

Welcome bud, and good luck on beating the stinkies :)

Dude! Great link! They have 1100 mah ego twists for $19.99. Best deal I've seen! Think I'm gonna grab one! It says the brand is SST is that just as good as joye?

I have the ego twist and it's awesome. I bought it as a kit and then got another complete one just in case something happened to it. I was a 1.5-2 pad analog smoker and when I took my first puff on my e-ciggy, I never went back to an analog yet and have no cravings for them either. I'm seriously liking the minty flavored e-juice and am pretty impressed that I'm now pushing 2 weeks without a real cigarette. YEAH

Yes, I am referring to cartomizers, clearomizers, tanks, dripping atomizers, bottom feeders, top feeders, and many others.
Don't worry too much about all that now, it will all come in time.

Thanks everybody for the great input, I'm doing my homework and following all leads, going to come up with something in a few days... I guess I'm worried about making the wrong call and trying to take in all suggestions, but at the end of day I guess I'll have to experiment and find what I like the most, especially with so many choices out here.

I'm glad to be here.

Quickly let me cut to the chase because I can easily churn out essays.... I'm a pad smoker (Marlboro Smooths) that still enjoys it but looking out for my health (and the smell of me and my belongings ;)), so ecigs, vaping seems like a logical transition. I first tried a 21st Century disposable (menthol) and HATED it. Very nasty... oh well, I tried, back to analogs.

Last week circumstances led me back to an attempt at ecigs (date with new lady lol)... well, the Blu brand looks sleek, let me try it.

I loved it, since then I'm already down to 5-7 regular cigs a day, and I probably don't need that many.

The problem now is, what's next? Buying disposables almost daily is not cheap, yet I don't want to go back to buying packs (only been buying loose Newports in times of emergency). I've actually been contemplating this all day today til I came home to find my free Apollo disposable in the mail. And I actually like this one the best so far... very pleasant.

So here I am, pouring through all this information, looking for any help, ideas, tips or leads I can gather. I'll be doing my due diligence as well. I'm also curious as to what to expect financially in switching from a PAD to full time vaping, I plan on taking the dive and buying a starter kit in a week.

Thanks!

I'll give you the same recommendation I give everybody, because this is what worked for me...I'm a former 510 system user. (Well, I'm a former every vaping system available user.... :)

My vaping tastes have evolved radically over the past few years but I've found the "GO-GO" Starter Kit a good bet for the following reasons;

* Cost - $59.95 for complete two eCig starter kit with (five) pre-filled Cartos or (three) pre-filled Go-Tanks: GO-GO KIT

* Batteries last up to two days between charges (depending upon how heavily you vape)

* Go-Carts - (Go-Carts hold 3ml of Nic Juice & Go-Tanks can hold up to 2 ml. (I vape all day on 2-3 ml) - The Carts are really no muss, no fuss but once you've acclimated to vaping you should really switch to the Go-Tanks (GO GO PREMIUM TANKS) as the vapor, flavor and throat hit are unparalleled. I really do insist that in time you do this :thumb:

Be sure to order the PRE-FILLED Go-Carts when you re-order. (Five pre-filled Cartos will come with your Kit but you'll need to specify the flavor and strength. I recommend 24 mg nic strength so you resist the urge to go back to analogs. I also recommend the flavor "EASY-BORO-USA Mix" as I personally believe this tastes most like regular Tobacco. I loved Menthol when I was smoker... hate it with vaping, so this natural Tobbacco flavor would most likely suit you. You can obtain that here: EASY LIQUID 10ML BOTTLES 24MG

Wishing you the best of Luck.... hope you find your Vaping Nirvana as I did :vapor:

Just weighing in here to say that what worked for me was pretty no-nonsense and relatively cheap.

2 ego twists (1000mah)
2 Kangar T2s (the T3s are out now and apparently better but the T2s are still awesome.)
2 usb chargers (1 for back up since these fail pretty often)
a 5 pack sampler of juices. 6ml each for 30 ml total (this is a lot of juice and will get you through at least two weeks while you learn the ropes and find what taste you like.)

Pick the juice you like and find a vendor to buy in larger sizes.

Enjoy your new found freedom from tobacco, your new lungs, and your nifty new habit/hobby.

This start up kit is under 70 bucks if you find the cheapest vendors and build it yourself. Not that hard to do. Trust me, if my dumb ... could figure it out, anybody can.;)

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping spainman :)

First to answer one of your first questions. Cost of vaping vs smoking. We are all different in what our smoking cost and how much we invest in our new vaping habit. I tell newbies not to expect to save any money for their first 6 months while they are experimenting and discovering what works best for them in their new vaping world. Yes some people certainly will save money in that first 6 months if their smoking cost were high, BUT its better not to expect it and be pleasantly surprised then to be shocked that one is not saving tons of money to start with ;) Once you have found what makes you happy in your power supply holder, juice delivery method and juice you should be able to spend half or less then what you spent smoking. Again, it greatly depends on what your smoking cost was and if choose to be a collector or simply spend money to maintain. ;)

You are wise to already understand that you will need to experiment to find what works best for you :) There are so many choices today that I can't imagine how hard it is to make a decision of where to start. But honestly, the important thing is getting started and using the experience gained to find what works best for YOU. What you purchase in the next week may not be what you are using 6 months from now BUT whatever you purchase will give you valuable experience and in the long run THAT is what is really important. :)

Good Luck :vapor:

You might try the Smokeless Image Volt in place of when you would use the disposables, like in a bar or wherever. SI does also sell the X2 which is a bigger battery. You could use the X2 at home so that your smaller batteries are always fully charged for out and about. Or just get the PCC for the smaller Volt batteries.

I think the Twist or the Spinner are the best choices otherwise. They're compatible with everything 510 or Ego, which is most things out there. Just keep in mind that the Twist is a VERY long battery. If you want to be even minimally discrete, buy the 650mah. It's still long, but not ridiculous (like the 900/1000mah Twist).

I use a lot of big batts. I'm used to using a 900/100mah eGo. So much so that the 650mah has become little and cute to me. But, the 900mah Twists that I bought are just plain embarrassing to use in public. I'm not sure how long the Spinner is. I haven't really checked them out yet.

Thanks everybody for the great input, I'm doing my homework and following all leads, going to come up with something in a few days... Like grandmato5 said, you're absolutely right! The only way to know for sure is to experiment. What works for one of us won't work for all. It's very individual. And, only experience will tell you for sure.

But, in the end, you will find something that works, and you will save money (if not right away, then eventually). You can't help but save eventually, unless you really get into collecting just for the sake of collecting.
