So after reading numerous methods and trying different things I was just bored and had some atomizers in need of cleaning. I was intrigued by Sattec's guide using crest pro and stating that it was the only method in which he visually saw particles of gunk broken loose and laying in the cleaning container.

I was wondering to myself what else might get down on those coils and physically help break this stuff loose. So I put a condem over battery end of one attie,, filled about halfway with water,,, put a condom over the other end and stuck in the freezer for about 1/2 hour. I just thought maybe there's a chance by freezing some type of substance over the coils it may aid in breaking this stuff loose. By the way, this method was used on a BE112 and 801.

I took the atties out and threw them into a cup of boiling water sitting on my counter. Swished them around for a couple of minutes and let them soak. I repeated this whole process 1 more time,,, blew them out then let dry. Tried the next morning and they hit like brand new atties.

Now I didn't see any particles in the cup and I have no idea whether the freezing helped whatsoever, as opposed to just the regular method I have always used. But I don't think I have ever achieved results quite this good. So maybe it helped. Just thought I'd share and hope some other suggestions will add to this to. I don't know how big of a chance there is to damage the coil doing this. Mine weren't hurt but ymmv. I don't think it will help much with getting down in the fibers but maybe using some other type of solution will help. I think sattec said there is no alcohol in the crest pro so maybe that would work.

Anyway just a thought...... HAPPY HOLIDAYS !!

Be careful. When water freezes it will expand. There is a chance the water can break the coil while expanding. I use my ultrasonic cleaner that I got off of eBay a couple years ago. It wasn't super cheap but it is used for many things. I fill it with hot water and run it for 5-10 minutes and blow it out with compressed air. And it is almost good as new.
