I worked with a paranoid schizophrenic once.

He was a real PITA and a handful.

During lunch one day he was trying to figure out his car troubles.

Another guy that worked there told him he had to check his distributor.

"Pull off the spark plug wire
Pull back the insulated jacket
Hold the terminal with one hand add the spark plug wire with the other

I'll turn the key and you tell me if it's working"

The schizophrenic was holding on to the wires yelling when I had to stop them.

Probably not the best idea confirming to a paranoid schizophrenic that somebody's actually trying to kill him.

Just proves that some people do not belong ... vaping using MOD's with removable batteries.

SOMEBODY...

Gets it.

And this is why my mother vapes with an MVP 2.0 and an MVP 20 watt.

She doesn't want to learn batteries.

So these LiPo equipped mods are actually SAFER for her than a PROthingy and some IMR cells.

Just proves that some people do not belong doing things like diagnosing a misfire or vaping using MOD's with removable batteries.

Just because something can be done it doesn't mean by everyone.

Bingo!

And there you have it.
100% spot on.

Ill repost this:

i have to agree that some people cannot be made safe. this leads me to believe that the only solution to battery incidents would be the development of some sort of vent proof battery technology. i don't know if this is possible.
the sad part is i cannot look away from a pyrotechnic display.
if i make a mistake i will probably keep it under my hat.

Stored energy will always present a danger for carelss improper use.

For perspective:
Its far more risky and dangerous to pump gasoline into a car.
It only takes a bit of self education to learn to do it safely.
That and a little common sense

Exactly!

Miseducation is a serious issue.

For example I can't tell you how many people lost their minds and warn me about smoking at the fuel pump.

Little did they know it's almost impossible to light gasoline or even gasoline fumes with a lit cigarette.

As far as I know the number one cause for Fires at the fuel pump is static electricity discharge.

And statistically the elderly are nearly impossible to cause this phenomenon.

They tend to grab the a pillar in the b-pillar of the vehicle as they get out discharging any static electricity before they even get to the fuel pump.

I used to keep a 5-gallon Homer bucket right outside my front door with a quart to a half gallon of gasoline in the bottom of it as an ashtray for people that put their cigarettes out in.

That little puppy provided years of amusement.

Didn't matter how many times you showed certain people that it wasn't going to light the gasoline they still flipped out or jumped or got scared or ran the other direction every single time.

this is why women are more likely to catch fire at the pump- it's the clothing material
but... that gas can you refuse to take out of the back of you vehicle to fill... yeah that's the
other cause... typically they're sliding etc and yep static.

oh and smokes can cause fires... same with anything that can cause a spark, but the air to gas ratio has to be just right... and no dropping a smoke into gas, while stupid, isn't an instant fire either, it's more likely to just put it out. i've actually seen old gas put out a bonfire lmao.

yes i drive a pretty big dodge ram and a baby truck... why no, i'm not a redneck... lmao just rural...

BTW; I wasn't going to mention how insulting it was that "people aren't born with this knowledge" yet we're somehow special by atmospheric osmosis.
I'm not sure how you felt insulted by that.

People most certainly are not born with this knowledge.
And I'm quite sure you gained the knowledge by your own efforts.

That was exactly my point in fact.

I thought of it as more of a compliment.
Sorry if you took it some other way.

You know...

When I was homeless...

I would do odd jobs for maybe decent meal and maybe a shower.

Fix a washer and dryer here build the deck they put up some drywall over there you can install a ceiling fan replace an alternator do a oil change and a tune-up help out with a dog during a breech birth build and repair computers cooking special dinners for people teaching them how to cook for themselves...

I would work all day for one damn single meal.

And at the end of the day I would go to bed hungry dirty and under a dumpster for shelter.

Yet after working my tail off for nearly nothing I appreciated every single thing I got.

So yeah...

When somebody advocates nannying and baby another grown individual because they don't want to take her responsibilities for their actions and go the extra mile it's insulting.

Perspective.

I appreciate the apology.

Though I have to admit it's the last thing I would ever expect.

Understanding the perspective that you're looking at this situation through I wouldn't expect you to understand that that could possibly be insulting.

Therefore I knew from the beginning did that was not your intent.

Maybe I shouldn't have even said anything.

I apologize for the formatting on this post.

Everything is written in speech to text.

Yes, I know because I am the guy who goes out on site to diagnose the issue. Best is when I find down systems and a 5 or 6 foot cord on a power strip that someone unplugged because they needed power. Never replaced the plug they took out or the person who said it was plugged in bothered to check the other end.

I don't see why some people dislike the term darwin awards.
It's not like we live among predators anymore, natural selection must still do it's thing.
Others dive in Yellowstone for an acid bath, others do headshot selfies, some cut the branch they are sitting on and some carry charged batteries in the same pocket with coins and keys.
It's not like he didn't know how batteries work,he charges them everyday.
