Two Florida men file lawsuits alleging injuries from e-cigarette explosions
So court filings are to the point where there are some actual details to look at. May be some of the court documents are online. My first impressions are the lawyers on both sides probably don't have a good grasp of the fine points, which would be typical. One case involves a regulated mod where the battery vented in a pocket. The second case sounds like a mech that burst when the fire button was pressed. It would be interesting to read the court documents so far. There is a hint in the article that a fake battery might have been involved in one of the accidents.

In this article about the same story Man left with severe burns after an e-cigarette exploded in his pocket | Daily Mail Online the attorney for the injured person says the Kangertech product was not adequately ventilated. That's dead wrong because it uses a magnetic battery door. The ventilation can't be any better than that.

The filings by the plaintiffs are linked to their names.

Yes, an unregulated mod caused one of the injuries... the other (Kangertech subbox mini) seemed to use an efest according to the pics. As far as I know, Kanger doesn't use efests.

So again, it all comes down to 3rd party batteries or rather... batteries that most likely didn't come with the units themselves.

Horrid injuries by the looks of the pics. Not sure how far up the pipeline responsibility lies.

Wonder what states the suits are from. here in illinois, everyone is sue happy....

Both sound like user responsibility/fault, not using a battery designed for the device and/or some mech shortage from not looking over your safty checklist(no shorts in atty, burs in 510, ect)

Situational wise, id be similar to someone putting the wrong type of gas/fluids in their car and something blew. "Im suing the car company for damages"....

Dont think these suits will get very far. unless of coarse the lawyers are uneducated on the subject of batteries and ecigs to begin with...
