As several others, I have been visiting this forum for a while before making myself visible. But now it’s time, I guess….
I am an Italian living in the US. I have smoked every single day since I was 21 (which happened 23 years ago), and I never thought about quitting. I like smoking, despite everything, and all the pressure against it (especially here) makes my contrary spirit shine so bright that it always seemed a pity to extinguish it…. But - I was smoking too much.

Recently, I heard of an upcoming ban in my workplace (outside, because inside it is already banned), which would extend to the whole property (more than a mile all around), so I figured that I needed not to be caught unprepared with a 22-a-day habit. Fortunately, e-cigarettes had arrived, because any other nicotine delivery system I had tried -to cut down on my habit or survive international flights- was no fun at all.

I got myself two pen-style kits from Puresmoker (excellent service, as others have commented). It took me a couple of days to start liking the taste and feeling of the e-cig. After that, I went from 22 to 12 cigs a day in the first week, then to 8 and, for the last 10 days, I have been down to 4 or 5, which seems about right for now.

I still like real cigarettes better but, all in all, I thought this would be a lot harder. I did not feel any weird effect from e-smoking (although I think I am getting less nicotine than before), nor do I feel better or worse. But I am pleased with this cut, and with the freedom that comes with it. All my friends in the US (not a single smoker among them) have been very supportive about the e-cigarette. But most of them were pretty nice about my smoking anyway, as they would often come outside with me while I smoked real cigarettes and all of them thought that the tobacco ban outside was way too much.

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and, especially, thank the members of this forum for all the useful information and the interesting discussions I have seen here - I wonder whether the nicotine blood level of the participants has anything to do with the lively exchanges....

Welcome aboard Schroedinger's cat...I won't open the box just in case!

A sneaky indoor smoke/vape doesn't set off the fire alarms in my place, so you should be able to save that mile long walk. As for Nicotine hit - you can buy 36mg (or a lower) e-juice to top up with - that should do the trick.

Anyway good luck. I've been e-ciggin over a month now, straight swap from 25ish real to 2/3 carts a day. And feeling great.

Thank you for your welcome, GOAQ - and I appreciate you not opening the box....

I have vaped inside my workplace, and nothing happened, as I had hoped. I don't do it particularly sneakily - but neither do I do it very openly. Let's see how it goes....

As for the nicotine, I deliberately chose medium and low, as I think that some nicotine would do me good, but I would also like to become less addicted. My main accomplisment so far has been to give up real cigarettes in the morning, as that was a very strong hook. I now wait until about 3 PM, and often that is all I smoke for real until after dinner, when i allow myself 2 or 3 more. So far, it works, and I have not bitten anyone yet.... But I do vape quite a bit during the day, especially when I am not at work.

Let's hope that we are not breathing in something worse this way, such as weird chemicals or obnoxious particles from the cart material. If that is the case, one may not need to open the box to figure out how I am doing....
