For the past 2 days I have had a very sore throat and a burning sensation on my tongue when vaping. There could be a couple of reasons which i can think of that might have caused that but I'm not sure so I need your help.
  • I recently got 2 new liquids both of which have a PG/VG ratio I'm not used to (I've been using 70PG/30VG and one is 50/50 the other one is 30/70)
  • I'm not sure why but I have a feeling it might be the atomizer
  • Because of the fact that I got new liquids and they're very good I've been vaping a bit more than usual lately (maybe I should cut it down?)
I've been vaping for about a year now and it's not a new feeling for me, also it's not from dehydration because I always have a glass of water beside me.
I'm using an iTaste VV V3.0 with a Mini Protank 3 at 8 watts. Every bit of help is appreciated. Oh yeah, I've been looking around the forum for quite some time but I couldn't really find anything that helps, just some sore throat from dehydration cases and I already had that problem :p.

Oh, I almost forgot! I've started to do lung hits recently if that makes any difference.

It would make a difference if you were using high nicotine strengths. When I started doing lung hits, I had to lower my nicotine down to 6 mg. I tried it at 12 and I woke up in the morning with a massive sore throat.

If you're used to 70/30 PG/VG and 30/70 is hurting your throat, I'm gonna venture and say it's not a PG sensitivity. Personally, I can't vape high-PG juices without mixing some VG in there. They're way too "peppery" or something, it just wrecks my throat and is incredibly uncomfortable.

Is there discomfort actually WHILE you're vaping? You know, it is possible you have a sore throat entirely unrelated to vaping. Changing of the seasons, etc. In fact, I'm more inclined to say it's this over anything else. Nicotine is the next best guess though.

The Mini Protank 3 doesn't have sufficient airflow to do lung hits effectively. Believe me, I own 3 of them. :p Another thing to note is that when you use juice with more pg than vg you are going to feel the nicotine in your throat much stronger. Maybe when you buy higher pg juices you could try taking the nic level down some.

I'm not sure if a doctor is necessary yet haha, the tank is full and I put a new atomizer head 4 days ago so that's what's confusing me. I did have a sore throat before and it wasn't from dehydration either but it got away the next day so I never wondered what happened there. Is it possible that it could be because of vaping too much and too often?

Entirely possible -- you've gotten accustomed for a while now, doing it one particular way, so exceeding that could certainly bring on unanticipated results -- just like, most people had a certain number of cigarettes they smoked daily, but if they were to smoke a lot more than that "usual" for whatever reason, the next day, they'd notice, probably right when they woke up.

I've always been a high-PG vaper, right from the start around 80%-85% PG, so I didn't think 90% would hurt me -- I was wrong; after using 90% for a week-ish, my throat was cherry-red and terribly sore, and my sinuses and nasal passages were equally burned and painful -- yet I had no fever, so I didn't have strep or anything like that -- just the higher-than-usual PG. When I went back to 80%, it gradually got better.

Maybe I expressed myself wrong but that feeling is only while vaping, and I have thought to myself also that maybe the sore throat is not because of the e-cig. Yet again it doesn't feel like a regular sore throat and I don't even feel it in the morning when it's supposed to be like "the strongest" but just exclusively while vaping. And I am using 12mg nicotine which might be the reason. Anyways thank you all for your help, I'll get some lower nicotine level liquids and try again in a few days.

Have a nice day everyone!

Oh wow I'm not really used to using forums so while I'm writing a post I don't realize that two more were written. As for the Mini Protank 3, it did work for me quite some time and it did a really good job so far. The thing is that even though I have been vaping for about a year now I don't really know anything about e-cigs. It's because vaping is not really a money making industry in my country so there are not many stands with e-cigs and not to mention actual shops. And it is really expensive so the Mini Protank 3 is my best choice for a good price and quality. And another thing is that I can't go up to the man at the stand and ask him pretty much anything about e-cigs because he doesn't know anything and he's just there to sell. That's why I'm glad that there are forums like this one, otherwise I would have given up. And believe me it's hard not to give up and get back to analogs. Every time I have some kind of a problem with the e-cig the people around me are like "Man, I don't have that kind of problem. I just light it up (regular cigarette) and when I'm done I throw it away."

I don't know but it feels so good to talk about my first world problems with strangers. Maybe I'm just an attention seeker. Anyways thank you all once more.
