Hey ladies!

Do any of you do yoga? If you haven't, and as long as you have the a-okay from the doc and lots of patience, it is an amazing experience! There are so many styles.

The reason I ask is because of the one time I went to yoga. I just started vaping, maybe two months into it. This was when I had the horrible $25 bottle of juice for only 20ml (I know, horrible ). My sister asked me to go to a Bikram Yoga class...

...THANK BOB I QUIT SMOKING. For those who don't know Bikram Yoga... it is a "hot yoga" style that is done in a 105º room that is ventilated (no humidity) and the class is 90 minutes. Sounds crazy, right? It isn't at all! It was one of the craziest, most invigorating, and amazing things I've ever done! If I hadn't gone to vaping I would easily have passed out! My body felt amazing and I have NEVER slept that good after that class in my entire life. :vaping:

Vaping has seriously changed my life because I'm going to take a break after the spring (when I graduate from my community college) and join a Yoga instructing school to become a certified Yoga instructor!

I never thought about the other possibilities I'd have when I decided to quit smoking. It just keeps getting better and better! If you haven't tried yoga, give it a shot. I'm not saying Bikram Yoga is the way to go; I used to be a contortionist and a martial artist, so I was born flexible. Just go to a yoga class and see how you like it. :vapor:

Raynen when you become a yoga instructor, you're going to gain a huge, awesome boost to longevity. I don't do yoga, I do qigong, stretching and rebounding. For yoga, I would have to get myself a DVD and go my own speed - I'll have to look into some form of yoga one of these days. I would probably pass out if I were to get a hot flash when I was in a 105 deg. room, though.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm glad it's working out for you.

I haven't tried yoga because it looked boring or too slow. I like vigorous productive exercise like mowing the lawn, stacking wood, anything that shows immediate results from my labor. I have a membership to a gym that I used for awhile but then slacked off because it was boring, boring, boring. The membership is free so I ride my bike there once a month and clock in and then leave so I don't lose the membership. When I reach a certain number on the scales that I don't like I'll go back. I know I'm bad but the motivation just isn't there. Oh, I did some kick boxing & karate classes for awhile and that was fun but it was expensive so I couldn't continue.

I love yoga, started when I was 20 but have been out of practice for the last 3-4 years. I have herniated discs in my neck and had gained alot of weight from the various meds the doc had me on. Six months ago I decided to forego all of them, dropped 46 pounds, and just started doing yoga again a few weeks ago. I've refused surgery until absolutely, undeniably the only way to function. Those meds helped me with my pain initially, but the extra weight was counterproductive, I always felt out of it, and I ended up not much better off.

I do have to avoid a few moves but yoga actually helps with my pain level.....relaxes all the surrounding muscles that stay tense from the disc issues. I'm also hoping to rebuild some of the muscle I've lost sitting around, that will help alot but I can't exactly just go hit the weights. Gentle progress, stretching, mental focus and relaxation.....it is exactly what I need and I never should have stopped! Funny it's the only exercise I ever did before to maintain my weight, the meds just made me not feel like doing much of anything.

I'm a book and dvd instruction kinda gal too. I did a few classes in the beginning and didn't care for the audience (or the walls of mirrors haha). Not that anyone made me uncomfortable - I just found it difficult to center and really relax in a room full of strangers.
