Hey guys, I apologize for sort of changing the subject but I'm not yet permitted to start a new thread.

here's my sitch...

I'm vaping for 4 days now with the 4081, no analogs. I bought an extra atomizer and 50 pre-filled carts with the original purchase. I also have juice coming from JC. I'm home for a couple of more weeks before I have to return to work so charging the batteries isn't an issue, yet. But, it will be. I'm a construction worker who won't have access to a charging receptacle. In essence, I'm going to have to be prepared big time to make the successful transition to vaping.

(note: I ordered a Jantystick which I'm nearly sure is going to resolve the battery issues but that device probably wont arrive in time)

Clearly, I'm going to have to be prepared to go to analog war armed with at least 4 batteries for a regular day. I dont think Im vaping very much but Im only getting 2 hours from each battery. Apparently, I have the non-SE batteries? Anyway, instead of buying separate spare parts like atomizers, batteries and a charger, it seems to make sense to me to buy another kit. (when "making sense" = spending more money on a product that I'm phasing out) Hoo boy. <g> E-Cigarcigarette has a decent kit for $70.

I mean, what do you guys do when you get set to hit the road for a 10 or 12 hour day away from home? I think I'd want to leave the house with 4 assembled, fully charged 4081s and a small bottle of juice. Does this seem excessive?

I noticed that some here are from Long Island. Are there any stores (of the brick and mortar variety) where one can purchase stuff in an emergency?

Thanks for the help. 'Tis much appreciated.

Hi Rich,

I can relate to you because at times I am on the road for the same amount of time.

Here is what I do:

I have 4 batteries fully charged when I'm out the door.

I also carry another model e-cig fully charged as a backup if in the case my batteries go DOA.

I plan on getting another Ruyan e-cigar for those long days on the bike. Those batteries and carts can last you about 2 weeks!!

Being that you're into construction, you do drive to work right? If you look at your charger, there is a input on the side for you to use a cigarette lighter charger plug. While you're working, what ever batteries need charging, leave them charging in your car while you use the others.

Also, you might want to get yourself a USB passthru for your 4081 and use a portable usb battery (example Keningston, APC mobile power pack etc). They are about the size of an ipod and can give you 10-12 hours of power for your usb passthru. I also carry one on real long days on the road.

On long Island, you can check out the guys over at e-liquidplanet.com They sell RN4081's (Solar Flare) and you can make arrangements with them for a local pick up for kits and/or spare parts.

Your last (and expensive) option for emergency pick ups are at the South Shore Mall. There is a Kiosk there that sells different models of e-cigs, carts, parts and juice. Also at the Roosevelt Field Mall is the Smoking Everywhere Kiosk that also has RN4081 carts, atomizers etc. The Westfield Mall on Sunrise Highway has a kiosk also I believe. They are expensive so it should be your last option.

Lastly, you local neighborhood vapors from the Long Island Vapors Club. We are here to help each other out in those times of emergencies for spare parts and juices being that most of us have an entire collection of stuff.

Great info, Max. Thank you. I've bookmarked this thread as the ultimate compliment. =)

Update -- I ordered an RN4072 kit today. In theory, I should be able to set out for a day's work with those 2 and the 2 4081s.

If I did my research right, the 72's carts and attys will work with the jantystick which is a couple of weeks away.

I commute to Manhattan (subway not the LIRR) so the car charger idea isn't viable for me. 'Twas a good thought though. TY

I always thought that DOA stood for "dead on arrival," meaning the part never worked from the day that you got it in the mail. But obviously if a battery can go "DOA" then that means that it had to have worked originally, so what does "DOA" really stand for then?

And are you sure the Solar Flare is an RN4081? Because the atomizers that they sell for the Solar Flare have an exposed bridge, while the ones I have for my RN4081 are internal.

:D dude, your funny. Good to hear from you again.

You are correct. "DOA" does stand for "Dead on arrival". I, however, used the word out of context. Maybe I've should've said "Kaputz!" :)

I'm not positive about the solar flare. I could've sworn that they were 4081's. I can't be 100% sure. I can't see why they guys over at e-liquid would sell the older model that in the past others have had problems with unless they got their hands on a new and improved version of that battery and atomizer.

You just may be right. If the Solar Flare has the exposed bridge, then it's not a 4081.

btw..how's the moonshine biz? :D

Also, I noticed that if you cover the two teeny tiny little holes along the gold middle band (the protruding edge of the atomizer) and then draw, it will be a very tough draw in that you won't suck out too much air through the ecig, but the result will be a very good hit with even more vapor.

The holes are for air flow. You can't cover both because you'll cut it off completely. Covering one, will activate the battery sooner, and cause the atomizer to burn hotter, giving you the vapor & hit. Running a hotter atty is not always a good thing though.

I keep my atty wet with juice, and draw lightly. I still get a good hit and loads of vapor. Using 36mg cut 50 / 50 with VG works great for me. I really believe it's mostly in the juice mixture.

I cover the holes and give a quick draw (~.25 sec, just enough to light the LED) followed by uncovering the holes and a normal draw. Punch.

I think if you keep the holes covered you'll burn out the atomizer. But I could be wrong.

I bought my SE Gold RN4081 from a mall kiosk three months ago. Honestly, I'm ambivalent about my decision. The money aspect sucks, and the cart is a little small, but other than that I don't really have any complaints.
Smoking Everywhere's brick and mortar operation is the reason I was able to quit analogs and the RN4081's physical similarity to analogs is the reason I was able to kick the habit. Some people, like me, are not really comfortable with ordering stuff on the internet, especially high-cost items and/or drug items. The in-person exchange at the onset gave me the confidence to buy supplies online later on.
Yes, the RN4081 has decent vapor--compared with an analog. However I got a DSE901 three weeks ago and its leaves my RN4081 in the dust. The pull is easier too. The initial downside is that its harder to switch out pre-filled carts and you have to adjust to the pen-style mouthpiece.

Most people started with one of the SE's or the super mini's, and have since moved on. I've tried many others, and I still sway back to my mini. I've done a little research and I found that I got a good hit and lots of vapor with standard batteries. My 5v passthrough was a little disappointing. Only a few puffs, and I got a burnt taste, although the carts were still wet. I dropped the voltage on the passthrough to a tad under 4v, and it was great. Good hit, good vapor, and the juice lasted longer.

I'm just a "back to basics" sort of guy. I'm really happy with my RN4081. As you stated, you've moved to another e-cig, but don't cast away your Gold. It will make a good little back-up, and 4081 parts are cheap. And if you ever have an emergency, you have the local supplier.

Howdy tigerin;

Dripping;
A person will remove the cartridge and remove the inner sleeve with the fiber so they have an empty mouthpiece. You can do this by using a paperclip, jewelers screwdriver, tiny Allen wrench, etc. Push the tool in the mouth end hole of the cartridge and push the inner sleeve out.
Then drip a couple of drops of juice directly in the atomizer. Replace the empty mouthpiece, and vape. When vapor decreases, remove the cart body, and drip a few more drops into the atty. Throat hit seems to be more intense when dripping.

CAUTION; Too much juice in the atty may run down into the battery, and possibly damage the vacuum switch or the battery itself.

Too much juice can also flood the atty, making it ineffective. If flooded, the atty should be cleaned out.

Too little juice could burn out the atty.
