How about the "sketchy pre-ordering practices"?

It's a bit shady to ask people for $25 when you've given no pictures, sparse details, and no final price. For all anybody knows, you could slap a $300 price tag on this thing. Are people going to be able to get their $25 back if it ends up costing more than they're comfortable paying?

I feel you... but you weren't following the thread. When I posted last night, I was being rushed to bed by the wife, but I wanted to get *something* up since I had 15+ people contact me about pre-ordering.

I'm hiding *what* the item is until production on the first wave is *complete*.

I don't want modders like you copying my design until I've gotten it out to the public. I've had several mods now that are appearing *elsewhere* because I showed pics before it was released. (Dual Pistols, NES Controller mod, and a few others)

Granted some people have *bettered* my ideas, but its something I've decided to do... so if you don't want to preorder, or order when its released because I didn't show you exactly what it looks like... then oh well. :)

I will be releasing a video this week... but again, the unit will be painted black as to prevent anyone from seeing the parts/layout of the inside.

So I got one thing to say...

For a clarification on PayPal and the possibility of accounts getting frozen. It's ignorant to think they will close down the accounts of *buyers*. Buyers have no worry about sending in payment. We are *not* selling juice till we get a merchant account. Here is the correspondence between me and paypal about the juice.

Not open to the public, and will be using a merchant account when I
sell. No worries. Just have up the buttons while I create a template for the
site. I have no liquids listed on the site yet, nor do I have I made any buttons for them to be sold.

If I sell anything via paypal before I get my merchant account set up, I
can assure you it will not be the liquid. I will only provide batteries and mods to start.

Thanks for keeping your eye out... but no worries here.

They never contacted me back, and have not troubled me since. I don't think there are any worries.

Oh... and if you have a problem with something on the forums, contact a moderator next time. Don't trash someone in their own thread. It's not professional, and it makes other modders like you look petty. I understand your concerns, and I'm sure many others do too... but that is something you should take up with me personally, or a moderator... not a post in the public thread! Just so you know, I had 16 pre-orders since last night at midnight... since your post I've had 2.

I think you caused more fear than is realistic or necessary.

I've been nothing but a positive member of this forum, and have many satisfied customers already. To insinuate that my practices are "sketchy" is such a display of immaturity and jealously.

From now on, I will offer the pre-order for free. The people that have pre-ordered can have their money back and stay on the list if they so chose, or don't trust me. That is the *last* thing that I want. If *anyone* wants a refund of their preorder, even if you do not stay on the list... let me know and I will refund it.

Might take me a bit to get to the site, have a few errands to run, and I'm posting this from my friends. When I get home, I'll make the changes to the site.

That's pretty low. I posted pics of my NES controller mod before you had it up on your site. I posted some questions about the build before your site even went live. Not to mention the fact that my mod is a full standalone PV with an internal battery and USB charging. It's not just a simple passthrough. I use the actual controller buttons, not a crudely hacked-in pushbutton. To imply that I "stole" your idea is both insulting and wrong.

As for the rest, maybe you should put a bit more thought into it next time. You have to admit, for anybody who didn't wade through 23 pages of the other thread, it looks incredibly suspicious. Your site's only been up for about a week, and you're asking for money up front for a mod which you don't show any pictures of, don't list it's main features, and don't give a final price. Step back for a minute and tell me what you'd think if you came across something like that on another site. Instead of attacking me for something I didn't do, maybe you should take the criticism and not make the same mistakes next time. Or heck, you could stop making the mistake this time. I've pointed all this out to you, but the preorder page still lacks any details or a price.

Call it what it is....

It's someone who:

a) Didn't read through any of the threads

b) a Newbie who hasn't done business with any of the retailers here

c) a ......ta*d.

At the end of the day, you guys offer a service, and the only folks who have whined about it haven't read the threads. Laziness does not equal Bounty.

Lastly, do NOT offer any pre-orders for free. You did the right thing. Offering Pre-orders for free gives reward to folks who choose not to investigate personal buying practices, and will ensure re-selling on the forums for inflated prices.

Here's my 2 cents on the whole debacle...

First off, Craig, DO NOT start offering pre-sales for free!!! Nothing you have done so far has been "shady" or deceptive in the least bit. You are selling a new product in a brand new and evolving industry, protection of your creative property is a high priority!!! ANYONE who disagrees with this obviously is one to regularly "tip-toe" the legal lines in life.

The whole modified e-cig market is naturally a place where any idea can be "copied" or "3M'd". Some people love to make mods and tell everyone how they did it. Others like to make mods for other people (i.e. Carlos) but don't wish to share exactly how they do their process for the simple reason that they DO make money doing this! They offer both a product AND a service. If someone doesn't want to take the time to make their own mod then they pay someone else to do it. With as new as this market is there will be many people trying to "get their cut". One easy way to avoid someone else getting some of your "piece" is to do exactly what you did with this product.... Don't give all the details away till the time is right!

I think candre23 needs to quit making assumptions and realize that there are other forums on ECF where he can discuss his, obvious, issues with you. Let me make myself clear in this statement. By assumptions I mean that candre23 is assuming that Craig is responsible for people making pre-orders. People, especially those from ECF, make their own decisions! That's one of the central foundations of this whole community, right? That we decide what we put into our bodies. The reason I bring this up is because this is a forum specific to the buying/selling of products. When anyone makes public comments regarding another person or business entity that are untrue AND cause harm or negative impact to that person or business that is considered slander. I am NOT saying that candre23's statements were slanderous but if I were in Craig's place I would certianly be talking to the mod's! I'm just saying watch what you say when your in a marketplace type forum and unless you KNOW it's crap don't try and postulate that it is or could be!

Ok I'm done with my rant now. Good evening everyone!

P.S.
My name for "it" is...... 42.
