got this person at work says they heard on the "news" that the government doesnt regulate what is in my "electronic cigarette". this same person was sitting there smoking a nasty cheap res cigarette, a "niagara". i didnt really know how to respond. i told her that her nasty cigarette has hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, tar, benzene, and 4,000 other known toxic chemicals and that my juice contains roughy 10 indigents that are non-toxic. she said how did i know that my ecig did not contain these same chemicals, i told her that the vendors that sell juice would never intentionally poision their customers. she said some more ignorant bs about how she new smoking has bad for her and that she enjoyed it, i said good i enjoy vaping and that is probably isnt going to kill me but the cigarettes very well may kill her. i wasnt going to continue to argue with this uneducated ...... its my fault i have to put up with these stupid people i didnt finish college and i work in a factory.

i wanted to add that i told her the government doesn't care if you smoke and they want you to only have 2 options
1. continue to smoke, spending mad money on cigarette taxes
2. use a government approved smoking cessation device

she said that the goverment doesnt want you to smoked, i told her that is foolish to believe that. tobacco companies contribute huge dollars to election campaigns and the government makes a huge amount of money on taxes. the same is true with any products that pharma releases for smoking cessation.

I am assuming by res cig you are talking about a reservation brand cig? If you are you can tell her the government doesn't regulate her cigs either. Why does she think they are so much cheaper? No taxes on them, no regulation on them, no oversight etc....

Lots of regulation going on in that pic

government "regulated" cigs are no better, think FSC and EVA. great stuff isnt it?? she was trying to convince me that my PV is as bad for me as cigarettes GOOD LUCK. if she would put those nasty smelly things down for a few months then she would realize that the smokers cough that she now has would disappear as would the shortness of breath sense of smell and the stink that follows behind her kinda like "pig pen" from the peanuts. as some who has done both, smoked and vaped i can tell you that since i have quit smoking and traded my cigarettes in for my vape i feel much better, i no longer wheeze at night and i can smell things i wouldnt smell bofore (thats good and bad, lol) i can also go up my flight of stairs and not fell winded.

i can sit here and tell you that vapping does not compare to smoking since i feel my different and in a good way.

As a vaper, I don't argue with smokers. they are not my enemies. I am not in competition with smokers. I want to prove nothing to them, no crusade against their habit, no movement against what they do. Options exist and should exist. There's no reason to berate smokers or to defame smoking in general just because you believe your habit to be less harmful.. this is precisely what people who don't vape or smoke are doing to the whole lot of us, and I want no war with non-smokers either. I think a world without the option to smoke a cigar or cigarette at a bar or at a casino is a lonely and depressing one. It takes all walks of life...

i was sitting there quietly vapping and she opened her big mouth about how she felt that my PV was as bad as cigarettes. if she would have kept her yap shut nothing would have been said. this woman is notoriously right about everything and she has something to say about everything. very annoying person.most of the time i sit there quietly vaping and say nothing, sometimes someone will open their mouth and start spewing nonsense trying to justify their smoking habit. look, they dont have to justify anything to me i dont care, its their body and they are putting chemicals into it, its their body to damage. only a few people in my life did i give a hard time, my wife was one of them.

people that smoke need to keep their mouths shut just as much as people that vape. they are not going to convince me to return to cigarettes and im not trying to convince them to quit......... unless they want help. this is something that if they ask positive questions i will give the information and help them on their quest. i just bought a lavatube for my friend and he gave me the cash, but he had asked me to buy it for him since he is interested in quitting cigarettes

Oh but they do...

The PG used is pharmaceutical grade - the same PG used in a variety of medical applications.

The nicotine is also pharmaceutical grade - the same stuff used in approved cessation products like the gum and patch.

The VG is food grade - production of that under the watch of the FDA.

And all the flavors - all food grade - all approved/tested/monitored by the FDA.

The end product itself isn't regulated, but all the ingredients themselves are.

You could say the same thing about a batch of homemade cookies (or any homemade food/meal - hell, even the coffee you make every morning). The gov't doesn't regulate what you do in your kitchen, but all the ingredients and the production of those ingredients has been.

i wasnt going to continue to argue with this uneducated ......

Since you're right, you can take the high road. Print out a short explanation of e-cigs, approach her with a smile, apologize for the argument to cool her off and disarm her, thank her for pushing you to do some research, then share what you found in a constructive way.

I would offer her a wager, if she thinks that vaping is just as bad, let her prove her confidence, you both can write a will that specefies that in the case that she gets a smoking related disease that leads to her death that you inherit all of her worldly possessions, and you could do the same. I've offered this same bet to some of my poker buddies who still smoke, needless to say they don't talk that BS anymore.
