you mean that wasn't allergies?

So, last night I realized that my wet cough was gone. For about a month or so I'd been having this really wet cough whenever I lay down to sleep; the kind you get when you inhale some water at the pool. It never produced anything much, no brown chunks or whatever, just sort of a half hour of coughing before sleep. I really, honestly, thought it was some sort of allergies or something because other than that smoking never really seemed to effect me much; i could still do the AIDS walk each year (6 miles)no problem, climb stairs, run or jog, no wheezing or shortness of breath or any other of those symptoms. But last night I noticed that I haven't been coughing when I go to bed at all! It seemed to clear up right around the time that I got my 510 last week. I suppose it could be a strange coincidence, but it really got me to thinking. All these years of smoking I sort of thought I would be one of those old, old ladies that you see smoking who seem perfectly healthy. One of the lucky ones. Now I'm starting to think that maybe I found e-cigarettes just in the nick of time! WHEW!

I used to get that cough Rosa - and tbh it scared me - it started off 'before sleep' then it became 'when I woke up' and also 'woken in night'. I never coughed up anything more than clear or slightly milky phlegm (TMI? lol) but I knew that much coughing wasn't 'normal'. Oddly, never having had bad allergies probably, I never thought 'its allergies'. Perhaps if I'd been a person who had other allergies (I just get mild hayfever at the beginning of sumemr, so I don't call myself a person with allergies) I would have thought the same as you - I hope this 'new habit' is healthier - I figure it can't be worse.

Me too.... the first probably 3 months of vaping I was wet coughing BAD - it was so bad my family was telling me that vaping was killing me lol, even though the difference was that when I smoked it was a dry cough... I was coughing more when I first started vaping though. It went away after a bit though - I think tossing in an analog once in a while in the beginning actually helped for some reason but then again that's bad if you're trying to quit!

I smoked analogs for about 10 years, in my 20s and I never really developed a consistent cough, but I would randomly cough a few times during an average day, and it felt/sounded "wet" although nothing generally came up.

in the mornings, however, I would cough up some mucus sometimes, or like in a theater or airplane trip, when I hadn't had an analog in a few hours, I might sometimes have coughed up some phlegm... I took this as my lungs starting to clean themselves. this never happened when I smoked at least once every couple hours, only after I was forced to abstain

after starting vaping and stopping smoking I no longer cough, or if I do its a random non-vape-related irritation and its a totally dry cough, which is something I still notice months later...because as an analog smoker, all my coughs generally had some 'wetness' to them

anyway about allergies, I never really associate coughing with allergies. I do suffer from allergies, but for me its itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing attacks. never coughing. smoking during an allergy attack was murder. vaping isn't nearly as bad and therefore my suffering is diminished during an allergy attack

I remember last year that I was coughing alot (I never coughed when I smoked), and I took it as my lungs healing, and expelling the crud out.

One thing that i noticed GREATLY and that I loved to death... I stopped having to clear my throat. This is very important to me, because I sing. And to have to wait for a pause in the vocals to clear my throat really quick was very annoying.

It is taking a little longer this time around for the healing to begin (I am thinking it is also because Mike smokes inside the house now)... But either way, I am happy about my choice to go back to vaping :)
