Well I have smoked for 28 years and I could not believe how easy the transition was to e-cig.Almost makes me a little weary, like it was to easy.I came down with strep throat and e-cig was bothering my throat so I went back to analogs.I was shocked that I did not feel sick or dizzy after not having one in two months.Made the transition back to e-cig easily again.I smoke med and sometimes low nic but maybe med is to high because I should have felt sick from analog.

I was one of those who never really wanted or planned to quit. However my wife developed COPD from 40+ years of smoking and on oxygen 24 hours a day and despite her quitting and taking all her meds she was still coughing a lot during the day.

I tried going outside for a smoke but with a 2 pack a day habit it didn't work out so I was determined to quit not for me but for my wife. I got a Classic Pen Style from E-Smokey Treats some cartridges and other stuff. Laid down the analogs on 3-18-09 and haven't looked back. My wife doesn't cough too much, I can smell things I never did before and have collected about 9 E-Cigs, RN4072 and DSE901s with parts etc. And must have about a pint of various e-liquids. Kudos to the inventor of the e-cig and this forum for all the info I have learned. Living a better healthier life.

For me, transition was easy enough. I'm still learning bits and pieces of the nature of vaping, but even with some major hick-ups, I don't have any urge to pick-up an analog anymore. I'd rather vape - not because of conscious choice, but more of a natural choice of tasting better.

In the beginning, I had some urges of analogs - especially the first couple days - but slowly went away. I don't have any urges for analogs anymore. Even though my e-cigs are little acting up, and they require constant care than ol' analogs - but I'd rather spend my time doing it than lighting one up.

I smoked about 1/2 pack to 3/4 pack a day for 15 years. I tried quitting 3 times - 2 with aid of NRT patches, which I succeeded about 3 month for the first time. 2nd try, didn't last over 10 days. I tried cold-turkey once, and failed within few days.

So far, I'm going into 2 weeks of non-smoking, only vaping. :) It's great to feel not to miss analogs anymore. It really is a wonderful feeling. :D

been smoking over 35 years
i started at about 14 years old and from 18 years old to present - smoked about 1 to 1 1 / 2 packs a day - started with winston reg - camels - then camel non filter - then roll my own top and bugler for the last 10 years or so - i have tried to quit many times and the few times i was able to quit only by chewing strong chewing tobacco - but that is nasty and i always got back on the smoking

after reading this forum i knew this was do or die for me so i ordered a joye 510 and extra everything to make sure i would not run out and then i got paranoid about not having electricity / batteries etc - so i also ordered an iolite portable vaporizer

so i spent about $ 500 on hardware and juice etc -

3 days ago i got my 510 and have not touched an analog since - i don't want them any more - i don't need them any more - with the iolite vaporizer i can put my leftover tobacco in it and get the vapors without the tar

i feel better - breathe better - smell better - and like someone else mentioned - i can go without for a long time and i don't get that desperation feeling that i got to hurry and get a smoke like i always did for the last 35 years

when i get up in the morning - i always had a smoke first thing - i would have to force myself sometimes to go get a glass of water or start the coffee first - but it almost never happened

now after only 3 days - i feel better when i get up - i lazily stroll around a bit - get a glass of water - start the coffee and have no urgent feeling to get started vaping - so i can wait a while with no problem and start my vaping whenever i feel like it

it is like a dream come true - almost a miracle to me

i know right now if i smoke an analog that it will hit me like a brick the bad feeling from all the tar and chemicals in the tobacco

that is the last thing i want to do and i think as long as i have the e-cig that i can stay away from tobacco and since i have a vaporizer that even if the e-cig quits - i can vape tobacco and still stay away from the tar

funny the first 2 days - i found myself - out of habit - reach down and pick up the rolling tray and start to roll a bugler - then i realized - hey i don't want to do this - and easily and thankfully put it back and picked up my 510

then one time when i was typing in this forum - i put the ecig in my mouth - just holding it - and - again just out of habit - reached over and picked up my lighter and started to light the e-cig -

hahah - i can finally laugh a little at my own habitual stupidity

i remember what someone told me a long time ago about cigarettes

' if you are tough enough - they will kill you '

i am glad that because of e-cigs - i am not tough enough to keep smoking tobacco any longer

These stories are so interesting! I smoked a pack a day for almost 40 years. Tried to quit several times, but never made it far at all. When I saw a TV clip about e-cigs I went right to the computer and started researching. So glad this forum came right up on Google! Anyway, got a 901....couldn't wait for it to arrive. Day one I smoked 10 cigarettes, day two 7, day three 4, day four 4, day five ZERO, and haven't had one since. 18 days and counting. I never would have believed it!

I'm by no means a veteran smoker OR vaper, smoked for 7 years at a pack a day, started vaping May 29th. Funny thing is, I set out intending on just substituting every other smoke for the e-cig. since I opened the box at 3pm on 5/29 I have not had one cigarette.

Two weeks in I feel great! No cravings (as long as your batteries dont die on you lol) only crappy symptom was a pretty rough cough for about a week and a half (my lungs screaming for joy I believe, and cleaning the gunk out).

Good luck! Have fun with the WEIRD feeling of walking into a 7-11/getting gas WITHOUT getting a pack of smokes! :D

I'm still not fully switched over, but that's okay. Some days I only have a few, occassionaly I've gone back up to nearly a pack (but that's still 1/2 what I used to smoke). Yesterday I had 1/3 of an analog, another 1/3-1/2 of one, 1/2 of one, and then when up late working on site had 2 whole ones. The day before i had zero. Today I've had 5. So, all in all I'm doing okay, even with the occasional entire pack relapses.

With me, the biggie is keeping the analogs out of reach, because an ecig doesnt fully replace that lungs full of smoke feeling. If my pack of analogs are at my desk, I'll smoke quite a few of 'em. If theyre in the freezer and I only get one at a time out, I can keep the numbers way down. Right now I'm craving one and the ecig just isnt quit doing it, even with some liquid that has a good throat hit. But theyre in the freezer in other end of house, so I'll be able to keep from lighting one up for a few more hours.

Mainly, I started with the e-cig because it seemed like a superb way to quit smoking--as I've tried everything else over the past few years. I'm still learning how to play with it, testing liquids, etc. I do notice that when I'm home, if I make an effort to use the e-cig instead of smoking cigs, I smoke about half as much.

Please tell me about your experience in being done with tobacco altogether. Was the transition easy, rough?
Do you occasionaly crave cigarettes?
How many packs a day did you smoke before quitting?

Tell me everything! I want stories, good & bad as well as tips for someone who's tried everything to quit smoking.

Hmmm.....I was up to between 2 and 3 packs a day 8-o I got my first e-cig just to help me cut down on analogs....I had no desire to quit. It's now been over 3 months since they day I started vaping (which was also my last day of smoking analogs). I was amazed how easy it was for me to switch over (after 41 years of smoking). I still don't feel as though I've quit since I feel no sense of deprivation. Who would have ever thought I'd be a non-smoker?!?!
