My great great granddaddy moved to the area that I live in 1850 and his last name was Porter. This unincorporated community was named Portertown after him and the road that runs though it is named Portertown Road. I am the fifth generation to live here and my daughter is the sixth generation to live here.
So, I use Portertown as my forum nickname.

Bbs! Ahh those were the days.. Waiting hours for a jpg to dl. Playing power hungry sysop.. Realizing long distance charges still apply to modems... Ahhh...

Via a possessed phone thats autocorrect is just silly

Dont forget pissing off your parents because you decided to start your own board and your phone was ringing constantly at 2am haha.. When I lived with my grandparents for awhile in 93, my grandfather would get so ...... at 3am when my little FIDO mail thing would call me to deliver that days batch of mail haha..

My username is the same one I use everywhere. Its my band name..

A character in Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle. I like big book and I cannot lie...

Me too! Stephen King has a new one out, I just saw yesterday; not quite as hefty as Under the Dome or The Stand, but not skinny either. Ooh, it's Monday, Under the Dome on the tube tonight! Yay!

I wanted to use kaytastic...its a nickname my friends gave me, but it was taken. I happened to be vaping on a juice I had picked up that was an ry4 blended with something or other and I was really loving it, so ry4love.

Is that your kitty, in your avatar? Beautiful! Now I gotta find a white collar for our tuxedo... ;)

That was the great thing about Atlanta, in the BBS days... and it's STILL the largest local dialing area in the world!

But I got tired of running a BBS when it turned into "Andria's Free Tech Support Board"! And got tired of paying for a 2nd phone line, too!

That's either a pic I screenshot to send my sis as an idea for her cat, or the pic she sent me of him after he got his new outfit. Frank looks just like the first cat, same big, round, green eyes.

I was into Under the Dome the first season, but they're taking too much liberty with the story and dragging it on too long. That may just be my opinion, but I kind of lost interest.........Now True Blood, that's one I've never lost interest in and I'm going to be sad when the series ends next week for good..........

I was extremely skinny when I was a young boy. My father said I looked like Gandhi which he pronounced like Randy. I hated the nickname, which gave him much joy. He was the only one to ever call me that and he did so until he died. He was an alcoholic and alcohol made him mean. It was the booze that killed him. At some point, I came to terms with my late father.

I started using gandy as part of my email addresses. I'm a member of another forum using that for a nick. I tried to use it here but couldn't so I added marsh because my hometown is Marshfield.

One thing that is curious to me is that many people, in replies to me, want to capitalize gandy or gandy and marsh as if it's my name.

Are you even OLD enough to remember BBS????????? Either I'm really old (NO COMMENT), or your pic makes you look like you're 18 (I couldn't go younger than 18 because if you are, you shouldn't be vaping ;) )
