I don't know about the 801 but I love the 510. Before getting it I had bought 7 kits of Nijoy Npro. After reading several reviews about the 501 I got one. I now have 8 units and would not change for the world. I don't use prefilled carts. I only use the drip method. I have tried several e-lqiuids but by far the Totally Wicked is the best.

Unless you use manual batteries, as happily mentioned, it really is a mute point. The 510 gives much better throat hit unless you use the 801 with a 5 or 6 volt battery. Then you have the good throat hit and 5-6 hours of battery life along with the largest cart of any device.

The info I'm looking for here is just this:

1. Which cart vapes longer before needing a top off, 801 or 510?

2. Which battery vapes longer on average, 801 or 510?

Bottom line...dont need info on throat hit or vape output or batteries (manual vs. auto) Just a time comparison.

Thats all....just looking for someone who has had experience with these models. Im trying to compare my 901, and all the time I spend on topping off and changing batts on the 901 with the 510 and 801. Maybe that narrows down my search for information here...Thanks : )

1. Definitely the 801.

2. I think the 801 has a longer battery life.

Short and sweet answers.

Perfect! Thanks for those answers. I've been kinda leaning toward trying the 801's. I'm not sure that any other models have the capacity of both cart and batt usage unless I go up to something industrial looking like the screwdriver...too big for me, Im just a girl...LOL I still want to keep the nice size of either 901 or 801. Do you prefer the 801 for yourself? What do you vape? Just curious and thanks again..C

Here will be a very helpful post :)...I love BOTH my 801 and my 510 and I switch back and forth.

The 510 has been my workhorse. It's always consistent. It does run out of charge much faster and you do have to top off much more often but...

The 801's taste can't be beat. When I really feel like vaping to the fullest flavor I pull out my 801. It does last longest cart and battery wise...much...but is just not as consistent as the 510.

I was and have not been impressed with the 901 at ALL. So my suggestion if you can is to get both! LOL

I have the Janty Stick, which is basically an 801 with a better, and even longer lasting rechargeable battery (and cheaper to replace), as well as a built in passthrough. I also have the 510.

Here is the thing... I love them both, for different reasons. Right now I am getting great vapor from both of them. The same flavor tastes differently on both of them because the 510 atty gets a little hotter. Some flavors taste better on the 510, some are better on the 801.

I'm actually thinking of getting the 510 adapter for the Janty Stick, that way I can switch back and forth between 801 and 510 depending on what juice I am using, and still have great battery life and a built in passthrough.

So if your main concern is larger carts and battery life, I suggest the 801, or even the Janty Stick if you can afford to pay a little bit more. And if you want to experiment with the 510 later, get the 510 adapter for the stick, and give it a shot. You may find yourself like me, and loving them both.

I hope that helps. :) Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any other questions.

Added: And just so you know, the Janty Stick is smaller than you would think it is just by looking at the pictures on the site. It's easily concealable in your hand... unless you have very tiny hands, then it's mostly concealable. :) So no worries about holding something large that looks like a big power screwdriver or such.

Good recommendation on the Janty Stick.:thumb:

I use the JS as my everyday device. I bought it almost specifically because it is easily concealed and for the battery life. But, it's not without its faults. Like every e-cig, there are occasional leaks. Whether that's attributable to user error or not, the JS will leak at some point and it is awfully difficult to thoroughly clean on the go. Sometimes, the JS feels slick in one's hand because of even a minor leak. Once every couple of weeks I crack the Stick open and clean the inside as best as I can and let it air out as I use another device. This practice, and never laying the JS down on the switch side has nearly eliminated the problem with the switch failure issues. But, it's quite a bit of maintenance and thought as compared to my pen style and 510 which require almost no maintenance at all.

Hence, I pre-ordered a Vapre51 from Litecig. Not counting the concealment factor, which I over-rated for my use, the Vapre51 *is* a JS in a few different ways. It's the same battery, albeit protected, which should provide the same endurance. Its native atomizer is the 801 and has options for the 510, et al, just like the Stick. It has a unique feature of being able to contour the draw of an m201 atty which is just a workhorse of an atomizer and my personal fav. The Vapre doesn't have the USB charging option nor can it be used as a PT like the Stick but I normally use a straight-up 801 PT anyway with a separate atty when I sit at the PC. Lastly, the Vapre51 is an all metal device.

Obviously, I don't have the Vapre yet -- but I'm pretty sure I know what I'm getting here. I'm familiar with every aspect of it.

I hope I didn't confuse the OP. But, I couldn't let this post pass sans a comment or four. Like you, Angus, I have a need for more than one device for different reasons. (the RN4081 has LOOOONG since retired though -- right, WV?) LOL

Richie, out of curiosity, do you have the v1 stick, or the newer v2? The reason I ask is because my v2 stick has no leakage or switch issues. I do know that Janty recommends that you open the stick up every so often and clean it out with a q-tip, but that's mainly just routine maintenance.

So far, my JS has been a great piece of equipment.

I didn't mean to imply that mine isn't. The damn thing has kept me from smoking a cigarette for almost 4 months now! LOL

It's a v1. I understand that the leaking issues were addressed via some sort of sealant near the atty connection? I *think* I read that somewhere.

The switch issues that I've mostly eliminated started about 6 weeks after I received it. I'm nearly sure that they were related to liquid leakage. If the leak issues are resolved the v2 should treat you right for a long time.

Best of luck.

I think the v2 stick addressed the major problems folks had with the v1. The switch is pretty solid and seated perfectly, and no need to worry about setting it down on the switch, the light weight of the stick won't make it budge a bit. Flooding the atty a lot may make it leak a bit into the atty chamber, but it's completely sealed off from the rest of the interior, and easy to clean.

I didn't mean to imply that the switch would go off accidentally. Through trial, error, experience and just dumb luck <g>, I found that if there is just the slightest amount of liquid that has managed to slip past the atty connector and inside the Stick it WILL find its way to the switch, especially if it's laying switch side down while charging. It's Murphy's Law with regard to the JS. =)

It's my opinion, which I can't fully confirm except that I rarely have (switch) problems now, that the minor leaks were at the forefront of the peeling switch issues reported by many and related to the same switch failures.

E-liquid is water based but apparently PG and VG have glue dissolving properties and act as electrical insulators, thus rendering electrical contacts inoperative. It can be frustrating but sort of funny in a sadistic kinda way. =)
