Hey all, just wondering what your opinion is on people (like me) who vape 0 nicotine purely for the flavours/ "illusion" of smoking?

I personally used to smoke a couple of analogs at parties, but then I heard of all the e-cigs and their flavours and I bought a kit, so I was 99% a non-smoker then I started vaping and still do, im not addicted at all, infact just recently I stopped for 4-5 weeks and now started again with some spare money for juice :)

so whats your opinion on non smokers like me who start vaping? I get the feeling a lot of people dont like the idea of it and only think people who use e-cigs should be the ones who are trying to quit smoking.

I think it is great. There are a lot of reasons to smoke or vape that have nothing to do with nicotine or addiction. When I was younger and hung out in bars smoking gave me something to do with my hands. It also kept people from getting in my personal space. I am a bit angsty so that was a big plus for me. Whatever reason your vaping, the point is your not smoking. I support your healthier choice!

Well, if it's vaping or smoking, vaping is the obvious choice. However, if I can't say that I'd recommend to anybody to vape just for the sake of vaping. We inhale enough crap into our lungs just breathing, so it seems wrong somehow to intentionally contaminate them. Like I said, though, vaping is the lesser of two evils. So if your choice boils down to, "I'm either going to smoke or I'm going to vape," then I say enjoy your tutti fruiti mix. Otherwise, I'd say get some hard candy.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but that doesn't mean you have to agree with them or make them 'right'. It's a personal choice, and not theirs to make for you. I'm working down to 0mg nic also, and may keep vaping after that just because I love it. I really don't care what others think. I used to care too much, and it nearly destroyed my life. People just like to try and control what others do. When they start paying my bills and taking care of me, I may let them make choices for me.... but then, maybe not. LOL!!! If you enjoy vaping, go ahead and do it.

ah fair enough, different responses than I expected

just out of interest do you think that:

an underage smoker who wants to get off analogs should be given a PV?

someone who is 17 and is thinking about vaping but isnt on analogs should be allowed a PV?

Personally my stance depends on the individual we are referring to. I began smoking when I was 15. I feel that, if a PV was an option back then, that it probably would have served me well to switch. I'm not certain that I would still be vaping today (almost 14 years later) and therefore it would have saved a lot of health issues as well as countless thousands of dollars. At the same time I probably wouldn't stand behind giving underage people access to flavors. I say vaping out an underage addiction should be about cutting the addiction. It should not be even remotely enticing except as a way to curb toward a healthier lifestyle. Again, that's just me...

I am not quick to sample out my PV to non-smokers because I don't necessarily see the benefits of turning someone on to a potential habit. Nary a person on this board would disagree that vaping is habit forming! Using that logic I *FIRMLY* believe that underage sale should be restricted. I also believe that PVs should be recommended by physicians as a possible alternative and there would be my loophole for your first question. *IF* the legal guardians AND a physician think that vaping is a viable option to assist in cessation then more power to the young'un. However I don't particularly like the idea of anyone who is not legally able to obtain a pack of cigarettes having the opportunity to just grab a PV from their local 7-11 and vape away.

Of course others are welcome to disagree with me.......

I think if you're an adult, you should be able to do whatever you want as long as you aren't hurting anyone else.
Yes, seriously, anything you want.

The question wasn't whether they should be able to; I think most of us here are pretty big on not having the government or anyone else for that matter telling us what to do. The question was whether we thought it was a good idea or not.

Ok, flat out. I don't feel the need or concern that I should ever stop vaping. There isn't some voice in my head saying "ok, I need to slowly decrease my nic level until I can quit." Personally I enjoyed smoking, I just didn't want to die from it. I enjoy vaping immensely more. To me vaping is a much more pleasurable experience than smoking, it just so happens to be safer.

I guess to answer you question, me having a problem with any non smoker vaping would be a little hypocritical. It doesn't bother me whatsoever.
