Hello everyone, I am very new to vaping and so far... I love it.
I was wondering what your thoughts and comments on my story would be, so here it goes.

I was never a smoker, drinker, drug using or any "bad" substance using person. I have always had horrible stress on my shoulders, a very large amount of anxiety and ADD. When I found out about vaping I thought long and hard about trying it, I thought that it could be a good substitute to the constant eating and oral fixations I need due to ADD and possibly a therapeutic relief. After about 2 months of thinking I decided to go for it. I have cut down from about a bag of chips and 6 sodas a day to about 3 glasses of water and half a bag a day. It may not sound all that great still but it IS an improvement... right?

I only vape for the flavor, no nicotine because I still am that Little Goody Two Shoes. I understand that many of you will feel the need to tell me how "I am an adult and should make my own decisions" but that does not mean I don't need to ask for your opinion on all of this.

Thank you all for your time to read my boring post and any responses you may leave :)

You're an adult, you should make your...oh, sorry, you said you didn't want to hear that. :)

If I balance vaping zero nic against...well, that diet you just described...I think I land firmly on the side of vaping zero nic in this case. In addition to that half bag of chips, I think I'd add a lot of leafy greens, though.

As a person whose 4 mg/ml nicotine vape is firmly attached to his mouth most of the time, I don't feel I have much latitude to criticize. And having reviewed the data, I also don't feel I have much latitude to criticize. If vaping has negative implications, it would be splashed all over the headlines by now. The best anybody can manage is implications and innuendo against it.

I would not recommend vaping to anyone who was not trying to use it to replaces cigarettes.

Drink more water and less soda, and eat more healthy snacks and less chips. As far as your stress goes, learn how to deal with it.

Problems solved.

It's common to treat ADD with stimulants, like caffeine. I'm sure if it was as simple as that, OP would have done it. It's never quite so simple though. I don't recommend vaping to those who don't smoke either, but she is, and she seems to have done some hard thinking on it.

I quit smoking cold turkey 14 years ago and started vaping at the beginning of the year with 0 nic, largely to curb my appetite and sweet tooth and help with ADHD. I stepped it up to 6mg and now vape that all day every day. It works for me too. You're an adult... oh, nevermind. :) If it's working for you, go for it! There's a segment of people who think vaping should only be for smoking cessation, but I'm not one of them. Enjoy your vaping!

I have similar issues with my diet and such. I'm working on that right now. I do have a huge anxiety disorder and found that out the hard way when quitting analogs cold turkey. I was loading up on meds to keep the anxiety down. I went back to smoking and realized that I didn't have to take nearly as much medications because the nicotine was helping me stay calm. Then a year and some change ago, I found vaping. Quit smoking again and been vaping ever since. Now I feel a lot better and I don't take as much meds anymore. My dr, family, and myself are a lot happier because of it. Now my whole family of smokers are vapers.

Keep on vaping and of it helps you in any way, enjoy it for the better.

Other people who have ADD are vapers, you should try doing a search for it on here.
Apparently it's the nicotine that helps them, some sort of reaction chemical, instead of pills. I think it was in the "Whole Cigs" suppliers section I read about it.
Two wrote that they suffered from ADD, and vaping has helped them.

IMO it's better than soda and chips! You'll find your clothes getting loose on you though ;) Or maybe not if you're very active anyhow...I'm no expert, but do read what other ADD sufferers say, please :D

If your health improves because of the vaping, then it's a good thing. Your an ad... (darn) and you seem to have weighted your choice thoughtfully. It could be interesting if you could report once in a while on how you progress, since this is a different way of using e-cigs, perhaps by starting a presentation/journal thread for yourself in the new member section (that's what I did anyways, but your situation is not the same as mine). I have been thinking that there certainly be other ways at some point to use e-cigs in a therapeutic way other than for quitting smoking and who knows... this could be one. I can say I snack a lot less since I vape and I'm theoretically using the same amount of nicotine I was when smoking.

I also agree on increasing your water intake. I was waking up with a completely dry mouth at some point and drinking more water makes a big difference. Now I pee 3 times per night instead

I do have some questions out of curiosity, but don't feel obliged to answer:
What flavors do you vape?
What mix of e-juice do you use (PG/VG)?
How much juice do you vape per day?
How do you feel about throat hit?

Still very new to vaping but I will try and answer your questions the best I can:

As of now I only have Wild Raspberry and Lemon Drop. I have a couple on order from ECBlend:
Raspberry
French Vanilla
Dragon's Blood
Dragon's Tear
Candy Cane Twister

Not sure about the whole PG/VG thing, the flavors that I stated above though have different ones so I can test out and see what I like. Some are 70/30 where others are 30/70 and between, so who knows what I like!

So far I have been vaping around 5 ml of juice a day. (is that bad?)

Throat hit is another thing I am unsure of, but will soon find out once I get my high PG juices.

Kudos for looking and weighing your options. Deciding on vaping is a life choice and one that really is not all that harmful. Yes it is a reduced harm for smokers and I have a feeling that when all the studies are done, it will be found to be perfectly fine, if the FDA doesn't slam and lock the door on eicigs.

I can see a future where vaping helps loads of people with a lot of different issues. As was stated, nicotine does help with Attention Deficit Disorders of different varieties. You aren't the first that has joined ECF that is using the ecig for weight loss, eating habit purposes.

Psssssssssssssssst You are an adult and can choose to do what you want  Ain't it grand? :D

I imagine you put as much thought into trying vaping as I did, as smoker, thinking about purchasing my first ecig. Good for you!

Welcome to the forum :)

Good on you. Using vaping as a means to help control ADD and junk food consumption may not be othodox, but if it works for you, then good on you.

0 nic will mean it won't be chemically addicting, but keep in mind that prolonged vaping could still lead to a psychological addiction. And honestly, the most challenging addiction that I have to overcome, as an ex-smoker, is/was the psychological addiction to smoking.

Thanks for your response, I was curious as to what flavors would a non-smoker would be attracted to. Since you never smoked, you might have some preference for high VG content to avoid too much throat hit or you might get into it, that's yours to discover.

5mL of juice a day is pretty much average from what I gather, but there are some people that got into making their own juice because they consume so much it was costing more than smoking. Those are mostly hard core drippers, though.
