Hi everyone at the V4L forum,

My name is Kevin and I used to smoke 2-3 packs a day. I started vaping one year and seven months ago. The reason I quit smoking was because I was about 21 or 22 years old, and I had a collapsed lung, and I went to the hospital for chest pain's and they said it was due to being tall and skinny. As I was in the hospital, I could only use dip/snus so that is what I used. When I was in the hospital, I was doing fine for nicotine.

The real world though, was a totally different thing. I saw people lighting up, exhaling smoke and I wanted one really bad. So what I did was I googled electronic cigarette's and I came across the ECF. I looked on the ECF and went into the chat room. When people were saying the KR808's are the easiest way to go, I decided to try to look for what a lot of people called a "Vapor King".

When I googled the Vapor King, it brought me to a site that had the Kr808's, and I decided to order the starter kit. As I did more research, I found out who I ordered from was a phony, and I sent the shipment back, but to no avail did I get my money back. I then found Vapor 4 Life and I rarely ventured away from them.

Once I found Vapor 4 Life, and placed an order, the first order was totally messed up, they sent regular Kamel at 0mg. I placed an order for 2 Kamel Menthol's 24mg. I am not sure if you guy's remember Val, but she helped me so much by sending me out the right order, which was still messed up. I did not want to call Vapor 4 Life again and annoy them, so I just let it go. It was off by a pack of carto's.

When I got my order fixed, I started to make a user name for here, and ask what people liked for a menthol, and to avail, everyone LOVED Smilin Menthol. So I placed an order for the prefilled cart's and I tried those. I also wanted a tobacco flavor and I had cuban cigar, which was not to bad.

As time went on, there were a few slight error's with the order's, but at this point I knew they would fix it for me. Plus we are all human, can't we all make mistake's? I did not hold it against them, did not flame the forums with slander, just wrote Val and she fixed it.

I learned from BornAgainstVape about filling carto's and how much cheaper it would be to do that, so he taught me along with Sawlight how to fill, and about 3 weeks into vaping, I was a juice junkie. Once the WOWboy came out, I was all over that like white on rice .

Now I had two every day all day vapes and I was quite satisfied and I did not dare venture to other flavor's, or sites for that matter, due to me getting burnt by the first place. Once I got some extra cash, I started to venture to other flavor's but came back to the same ones, Smilin and WOWboy.

As time went on, the forums were starting to fill with people being lazy and complaining on them, saying how Vapor 4 Life did this and that. Steve, Mark, Wade, Val, and Born all posted, told everyone the same thing... Send Vapor 4 Life an email and explain what is wrong. Once that started, I had to take a break from Vapor 4 Life's forums because the common sense of a lot of people had escaped them, and I have a short temper for that.

I came back and found everything back to the way it was, all joking, having fun so I started to come back, doing reviews again, getting the old camera back up and running, and really having a blast. As I started to gain more knowledge in vaping, I started helping the newbies out, giving them tips.

Then SnowDragon and Morandir came along, and can I say holy crap do I look like a newbie compared to them? I mean, if it was not for either of them, there would be a lot more question's being asked around here then ever before. Congratulation's guys you are a HUGE piece of this forum!

I can say that for me personally, it is not the fact of the hand to mouth motion that keeps me vaping, but the fact of having the vapor in front of my face. If it was not for Vapor 4 Life, I think I would still be using regular cigarette's even after my doctor said no.

To conclude this little blog, I would like to give a big thanks to Vapor 4 Life, Sawlight, Val, Jeffree, BornAgainstVape, Darr. Kimmy and Keyzy. Without you guy's I would have been lost and most of all to Morandir and SnowDragon for taking their time out of their busy lives to do the tests they have done. A HUGE thanks to Steve and Mark for literally saving either my life, or my lung by starting this company.

P.S: I want to thank all of you for reading this, and I hope this encourages you to write your journey, history, or story of vaping as well, to show the new guy's how vaping can lead to quitting or totally stopping smoking.

And you, Kev, have been a key player and all-around great guy in the forum since I found it in early 2010. I always appreciate your honesty and your willingness to lend a hand, and I agree completely about how important this forum has been to those of us finding our way, especially early on. Vaping without some warm support would have been a much tougher climb for confused blokes like me.

I started smoking when I was 14. Quit once at 18 for a few months after a serious car accident. Quit again during my 2nd pregnancy for 8 months. At 53 yrs old, thought I would go to my grave a smoker. I didn't have alot of interest in quitting and never thought I would attempt it again. I heard about e-cigs and started checking them out on Internet last fall. I thought it would be a great alternative when traveling and at work etc. ordered my 1st kit in December, didn't like the company, but saw the potential. Found v4l and ordered a kit. At this point I was smoking 2-3packs a day. I soon realized that if I had even the smallest interest in quitting, this was my best chance and it was all or nothing.
That was 10 months ago. I still have 3 packs of cigs in my freezer that I haven't touched since new years eve.
The 1st few months were a challenge, but can't imagine going back to cigs ever again. I feel better and smell better I doubt I would have made it with out the great v4l products and service, and my cyber friends on this forum.
In short, I thank you, my family thanks you and my new grand baby thanks you

My hubby and I both smoked since high school. Each of us smoked at least a pad. Four years ago he had a health scare and quit using chantix. I had no desire to quit and just tried not to smoke around him. Last summer I really wanted a new puppy as we had to put our cherished chocolate lab down due health problems. We also found out that we were going to be grand parents...a baby girl we got in March of this year. So I started on the e cig path, my first was a pen style and just didn't work, got tired of getting juice in my mouth. I found a KR808 system that I really liked and even got my 70 year old father to join me. The original KR808 helped us kick our smoking habit, but the hardware just wasn't reliable. Came to ECF, did more research and found Vapor 4 Life. Neither of us has turned back since and we have added my brother, sister in law and an uncle on our journey. Oh... by the way I did get my puppy since I was a good girl:) My little Libby is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and runs the household. I can't believe how much better we all feel and smell. I have met so many wonderful people on this forum and really enjoy being part of the family. Thanks to all here and to Vapor4Life for their quality products.

I'm glad krazie started this thread 'cause I was gonna start one along the same lines. If krazie doesn't mind I'd appreciate you all telling how your first few months went too. Did you take to vaping right away? Did you cough up a lung for a week, month? You know all the bad with the good.

Krazie if you don't want that I'll start a different thread i don't mind.
Mine was gonna be titled Your first time...was it good for you?

Received my box of vaping gear on Jan. 14, 2010, and got things ready. Stepped out onto my balcony at midnight, had one more cig for the road, and fired up my very first vape. My exact thought after my first exhale of vape: I can do this. And I did. Never had another cig and never will.

Most helpful to me early on was realizing that two issues could be key to my long-term success...

> having plenty of reliable gear on hand so that I'd never be caught without, especially early on. I'm talking extra batts, cartos, and juice in the home, car, office, backpack, briefcase, suitcase, and so on. Definitely some extra bucks spent up front, but more important, I've never had to use 'a lack of gear' as an excuse for grabbing another cig.

> having a variety of stronger carto/juice flavs and nic strengths available to soothe any strange cravings I've had from time to time.

Overall, I've had a few challenging moments, but not many. Adopting vaping and dropping cigs was far easier than I ever could have imagined, and V4L + this forum made the journey, particularly at the start, both successful and fun. Yeah, in the end, just another vape story with a happy Hollywood ending. :2cool:

Edit: Was thinking about things during the drive home tonight and realized I forgot something else that helped me keep vaping in charge. I've never again tried a cig just to see how it tastes. I know it's not a prob for some folks, but it certainly is for others, including someone close to me who flew back to cigs faster than Pavel Datsyuk on a breakaway. Being serious about the cig quits, I see no reason to find out which group I'm in.

Nana that is a GREAT idea!!!

I was coughing up a lung for god, weeks it felt like... When I first started it was the blah flavor's they gave you in the starter kit in the smoke shop... I was choking on it so bad, but I quickly liked it after a few more drags.

Kevin, I will post my story here. Soon. Just not today. (Too frigging exhausted! :()

Thank you for starting this thread, too. I enjoy reading others' tales re vaping. :)

You are quite welcome, I do to and that is why I wanted to start it, Wade may sticky it if it gets popular too! I want it to get stickied so other people and new people can see how much V4L and e cigs have helped us.

I would love to read your's because I never herd your story yet.

Mine is pretty sappy :violins:, but here goes:

I am the oldest of four sisters. One of my younger sisters has had a hard life; started running away from home and doing hardcore drugs when she was thirteen. It's a long, sordid story but in the ensuing years and for most of our adult lives, her myriad problems with drugs and run-ins with the law caused much grief not only for herself, but for her three sons and the rest of our family. She started turning her life around about 8 years ago after my mother died of lung cancer at age 63, but still we were a fractured family. I don't even remember why it happened, but she came to visit me one evening last April (very rare as I had chosen to keep a safe distance from her in the interest of emotional self-preservation) and she happened to show me her V4L Vapor King and announced that she had quit smoking by vaping and her emphysema had greatly improved. First she quit injected drugs and now she’s quit smoking?!?!? She has been disabled for a couple of years now from an autoimmune disorder and the havoc the drugs wreaked on her body. Her home health nurse introduced her to V4L and she bought her first kit. She gave me an extra battery and charger to try and the next week I ordered my own V4L manual starter kit. Since then we get together at least once a week to swap juices and talk vaping. My favorite V4L juice is Turtle, followed by WOW Peppermint and WoWboy Peppermint. Her favorites are V4L Wowboy Peppermint and Coffee, plus a variety of the menthol flavors and she has recently reduced to 12 mg. We both use the manual XL Vapor Kings and manual PTs. We both recently got the V4L USB plug-in for pass-thru vaping and we love it. We are both eagerly anticipating new battery developments from V4L! Vaping and V4L has been a much-needed bonding experience with my sister. She is in her late 40s and I'm in my early 50s, and I am optimistic that the wounds of the past are beginning to heal and our family is coming together again. Her son and his wife are now expecting her first grandchild (Tom Petty :)), and we are hopeful that now she and I both will have many years ahead to enjoy this new addition to the family.

That is one of the most touching family stories I herd. My aunt was on the same road as your sister, but the poor lady died from her addiction, I am glad to see your sister stopped.

And you are another turtle lover? Highfive! It is as good as WOWboy for me lol.
