It takes time to learn who you can trust… and I don't think there are a lot of people out there pushing crap. I think there's more self-deception out there and diplomatic reviewers than there are charlatans.

In 4 years, the list of people I know I can trust is quite small… and that's because I have particular or unique taste - and we all do… and the trick is finding someone who shares your preferences…

My favorite was David Dorn… in the UK… mostly because he's entertaining.

One of the biggest problems I see here… with this kind of post is that people tend to think that harsh or negative posts are somehow more honest than positive reviews…

This is neither true or untrue…

It's a lot easier to post a positive review.

There's little backlash or criticism… life is easier avoiding posting bad reviews…

…and people tend to be more enthusiastic about posting poisitive reviews…

I tend to only post positive reviews… I find something, I like it… I want to share it ----

Recently I bought some juice from a popular vendors that a lot of people like and I HATED the juice.

I don't share the same motivation to post a negative review… because I didn't like it.

I don't like nicoticket's cls or creme brulee… not a fan of any goodlife vapor… not a fan of "The Standard" or grenada… not a fan of 5 pawn's, mr. eliquid, Roar, or alice in vapeland...

Do I really need to post a negative review? All these vendors were top notch… and they make great juice… just not my cup of tea...

I love Innevape lately… mmm great stuff! it really tickles my taste buds… I have enjoyed GEJ, Halo, BWB and others for several years...

Point is… I am not going to zap clark at nicoticket because his custard is too sweet for me… in fact, I think I will be trying more of his juices as soon as he does a menthol… if he can putthe same quality and passion into menthol as he does desserts, then I am biting.

My lack of writing a positive review is my only protest.

I'll only write a negative review of a juice if I feel that the vendor somehow lied… like if they say their tobacco is made from the finest ingredients and it's just some flavoring squirted in… or if they use really inferior nic and base...

I dunno… you just need to realize that reviews are only as good as you connect with the reviewer….

and what's the point of a video juice review anyway? those are just stupid in my opinion… if the person is entertaining or attractive, I'll watch ;-)

I like Busardo… he does a nice review… I was on the fence about one of those Innokin MVP Itaste mods a while back… and he gave it a pretty good review… so I bit - I figured… if he likes it, I might...

I hated it… I think it's such a hunk of crap… I thought… how could busardo like this? the button is terrible… it had an incredibly poor fit and finish… it never kicked out the 5v that it promised… but hey… the guy has bigger hands and different taste…

I watched his review again and realized that he really wasn't pushing it - reading between the lines, he was being diplomatic… he wasn't saying it was crap… he was saying… for the money, it ain't bad… and I wanted to like it… so… no harm, no foul…

anyway… to anyone reading this… I think you need to figure out what you like and not rely on other people to make you feel good about buying something… because it is truly hard to find stuff that you like… we are finicky - and our tastes change a lot.

here's what I am talking about - with a MOD… I like lightweight… a button with some action and a great fit and finish… if any one of these three things are lacking, I'll hate the mod… even if it's one of those gorgeous super-T mods.

and with juice, you need to be even more careful… I know more about what I don't like than what I do like.
I look at all the vendor's offerings and I determine (based on my experience) if they are doing anything unique.
I look at WHO likes this juice… is it mostly people who have been vaping a couple months… or people who have been vaping years?
Frequently I email them… and I avoid them when they are secretive or flakey… I ask questions…
It's hard for me to find a new juice vendor I like.

It's ejuice… that's all it is… and as far as I am concerned… at this point in the game… there's no such thing as TOP SHELF… there's just horrible, vapable and really good… only so many ways you can create these flavors… no one is doing anything that unique… there are thousands of people out there making juice now and just a small handful of flavoring companies and nic companies… and chances are, if someone is smart enough to figure something revolutionary out - others will too.

I know many like Todd's e-cig reviews but I just can't stand his pauses when he gets that stupid half grin on his face and just stares off into space for a while.

No offense Todd, but ya. I guess I get impatient waiting for the pauses to finish.

<shrugs>

I dunno... I still watch his reviews though, I'm still subscribed to his channel! and I still take into consideration what he has to say.

Do you find him 'credible' though? I find he gives all those who give him free stuff a good review.
He might do a fav review but, they all get +positive.
I agree, some are entertaining.

Even though he is my neighbor (he is in Seattle I'm in Tacoma...whatever), the only time I believed him was recently when he got a bunch of Iclear 30B's in the mail. Before he realized that he had other (free) stuff he tried it......he was giving his real opinion as to how he really liked it. He was like a kid at Christmas morning just elated and could not stop puffing. That was the only time I really believed his opinion was honest.

I still have not found out if these reviewers are making money off their links. I think if it is, anything they have to say is biased and should not be trusted. Does anyone have the answer to this?

I would say there is a reason why all ask you to Subscribe and follow/stalk/whatever. There are youtuber's like a Jenna Marbles who I'm sure makes into the 10's of thousands yearly. Each one of her weekly videos get a million++ views. Not saying any vape reviewer is in her league. Of course she's on the high end. Then there are folks like me who got a 200.00 check for 1 video.
No one is going to tell how much they receive.

Never asked anyone to subscribe :)

I switched on adverts for the first time in December, think it made about 140 dollars for a month.

That's all I have ever made in the past year from reviewing.

You want to put time against reviews, emails, Facebook, editing, research, believe me, the freebies don't begin to cover it.

I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm just a guy in a shed, watch one video by any reviewer, your gut instinct should tell you what they are in it for, if you don't trust them or me, don't watch :)

    P.Busardo, especially after his video:

A PBusardo Video - The Genesis Epiphany - YouTube

Pete finally gets gennys, and I was quick to congratulate him on it. He pulls no punches, he is honest, simple, and direct about what he says. I've watched the others, and PBusardo comes out on top. God bless him.

GrimGreen, eh, not so much. He got down on gennys because he just can't build them right or use them right. If he can't figure it out he's just not my YT guy on vaping.

I had to look her up.

How to put your makeup on when you're drunk, Drunk Hair tutorial, etc. --- (F word every other word interspersed w/other swear words)

THIS is the role model for young teenage girls these days w/the most YouTube hits?

God help us. She makes Paris Hilton look like a Ph.D. :)
Hope she invests the $$ well, cuz I don't see much future there.

If you mean we do not have to pay to watch? True. Do you think that is something that you and I should take into consideration?
For me, absolutely not. Please keep in mind, youtuber's with high view and subscriber numbers are benefiting in 'big' ways.
I'm talking cold, hard cash, plus the devices they keep. Even on my stupid youtube page, which is mostly for family, I got a 200.00 check for the number of view I got for a Monkey Joke!!! 200.00!! I told you the amount I made because it is a relatively tiny amount. I doubt if any of these folks would post the amount the receive, nor are they obligated to.
There is money to be made. Please don't go to any extremes though in your thinking as if I'm saying all these people do is show a face/get a check.

Maybe I should buy a camera:)

Todd, PLEASE note that I was not even hinting about you.
The money thing has just come up after 8 pages of this thread. I will admit that I am guilty of hinting and referring to IndoorSmokers when I say credible. It's MY opinion and we all know what that is worth. I think the money question is
a fair question, whether I care or not. If a subscriber wants to know, it's up to them I guess to pursue it.
Don't defend yourself. You don't have too. As a matter of fact, perhaps there has been enough info gathered in this thread
and as the op, perhaps it should be closed? I intended no wars or rallies when I started the thread I simply wanted to know.
I've found the folks I want to follow. I'm good! :)

That's ok John, I can only speak for myself mate and take no offence :)

I'd quite happily answer any questions regarding reviewing as I don't have a thing to hide (maybe the fact I really like BDC heads!).

I was just going to get back to my movie but, I have to ask??? Is it not 'hip' to like BDC's. I know diddly about the subject. I just made sure I bought that type because not knowing, I feared I'd have to tip all the time??!!

You're cool mate! I hope you are OK with some of the criticisms made? Maybe they will even be useful :)

I like Todd because he's a dork like me who really enjoys this stuff and is willing to share his experiences and opinions in a charming accent, and he has an extremely cool dog which I think is an excellent indicator of good character :). I also tend to speak haltingly which I think is a sign of thoughtfulness, although I tend not to get the goofy grin that Todd breaks into that seems to irritate some people. I find his reviews interesting and entertaining and often very helpful, and the quirkiness is like icing on top of the vapecake. I also like Busardo, Rip, and Grimm, but Todd is tops.
