Yup. I can’t work it out! I think that all I can do is put it in a drawer and keep it for spares

Cant you just use base of the new tank on the old tank (like you mentioned worked) and slip the original airflow ring over that base?

I may have a similar problem. The base in my zenith just spins and can come off the tank. The middle piece in the picture. The connection is not threaded. I'm thinking about gluing it on with Loctite since it might resist heat. It just needs to be aligned right. Any thoughts? Thanks

Does is bother you? I mean, does it leak or cause any other issues now that it's not stuck on the top part? If not, and you just screw the bottom piece on, I'd just leave it like that.
