Mesh rtas

Old time user here but wanting to step my game up to trying mesh material for my coil. I do build my own regular coils so I want to try rta that uses mesh. question, with mesh are all of the coils cut to the same size? What determines the ohms? Where can I buy the material from?? Thanks!! Also I’m noticing these coils are in different sizes. How do I know which size will fit in my rta?

Hello

Hello, my name is Caique. I've been in the Vape world for 2 years now. I quit smoking thanks to disposable vapes , and currently, I'm using a Gen 160 + Arbiter 2 setup. However, I'm feeling the need to switch to an MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) device. As a backup, I have a Lost Vape Lyra pod, but I'm considering getting an MTL Atty (like the Kyfun or Pioneer, still doing some research). If anyone has suggestions, feel free to share! I'm Brazilian but currently living in Dublin, Ireland . Also, if anyone can recommend good juice websites to buy from, I'd appreciate it.

Vapefly Alberich II MTL RTA | Reviews by Z-Lee

Vapefly Alberich II MTL RTA

1689518926312.png

Hello ECFers! Today I want to share with you my testing and experiences with the Vapefly Alberich II MTL RTA that Sourcemore sent to me for the purpose of a review. The Alberich II is an updated version of the original Alberich which I never got to test out, but judging by what I'm seeing from Vapefly's site, seems to conceptually be the same. There are however a few upgrades in the Alberich II that I think are great changes and will hopefully continue to pave the way for future RTA's. Vapefly is a brand that continually puts out top tier products, and Sourcemore currently has a great deal on this RTA.

As per usual, I want to thank Joyi and Sourcemore for providing this product for review. As a reviewer, this critique will be conducted in a fair and honest manner.

Alright, let's roll!

◆ REVIEW TESTING & OBSERVATIONS ◆

Intro:

1689522050541.png

The Vapefly Alberich II MTL RTA comes packaged quite simply, but as you can see above, there are plenty of goodies that come in the box. It isn't very common to be supplied with two sets of coils and firebolt cotton (a single firebolt cotton can be used to wick both coils and then some), so that is a nice touch. Also, it should be noted that both coils are single strand 2.5mm ID and while I've not tried to fit a 3mm ID coil in this atomizer, I don't see it happening. The photos below will show you just how tight the 2.5mm coils sit when fastened, so adding a spare 2.5mm coil to the kit makes it that much more of a welcomed addition.

There are plenty of spare O-rings for both the atomizer and airflow pins shown on the left. The tank I received had a 1.2mm airflow pin already pre-installed, and 6 additional airflow pins ranging from 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 millimeters in diameter. Additionally, there are 4 phillips post screws and a 3-in-1 tool that provides everything you need to set up this atomizer.

The Alberich II:

1689528002072.png

Pretty much all of Vapefly's products have a medieval theme which I've loved from the start. The font and aesthetic stands out to me with a very classy design. The 510 drip tip is quite skinny, but appropriate and comfortable for an MTL device.

There's knurling around the top and base cap which looks aggressive, but is rather smooth to the touch giving you just enough grip to easily twist on and off. The top cap is a quarter turn release which makes refilling an easy task.

The two airflow holes you see just below the top cap knurling are fixed, which surprised me a little. I'll get into the airflow in a bit, but was expecting this RTA to squeeze down to the tightest of airflows which to me is ideal for an atomizer that is specifically aimed for just MTL vaping.

The pre-installed glass and spare glass are identical, and both hold 4mL of juice which is more than plenty for MTL vaping. I'm not sure if they're intending on making a 2mL option for countries enforcing TPD compliance, but there's no mention of it in the package contents or on Vapefly's site.

The Components:

1689531268172.png

I realize there's a lot going on in the collage above, so I'll try to break everything down the best that I can. Two big changes were made from the OG Alberich and the Alberich II that I can see. The first is the type of airflow used which was originally bottom airflow that flowed through the 510 positive pin and into the deck. The original Alberich used interchangeable 510 with different diameter airflow pins to make adjustments to the airflow. In the Alberich II, the airflow has been switched to top airflow and this is where the second big change was made; the airflow pins are now changed on the deck as seen in the top right. This can be seen as both a positive and negative. On the negative side, the airflow cannot be changed without disassembling the tank. On the positive side, the airflow restriction converges right at the point of hitting the coil which most definitely means the airflow is almost completely hitting the coil. To me, this is where I'd say the Alberich II excels in regard to potential flavor output. The only way you could mess this up is if you position the coil completely off-center from the airflow pin. Restricted airflow means nothing if the airflow isn't hitting the coil correctly.

Another big advantage the Alberich II has over other atomizers is that the size of the chamber surrounding the deck is extremely small. If you look at the underside of the inner chamber, it has cutouts for the deck screws and airflow housing. There's even a small dome carved out for any height discrepancies you may have with the coil positioning. That's how tight this chamber fits down onto the coil. This heavily cuts down on the dilution of ambient air mixing in with the vape as you're drawing it in. This is why atomizers like the Nitrous RDA received so much praise in its reviews, because of its tight chamber size adjustable for both a single and dual coil build.

When the inner chamber piece is placed on top of the deck after you've built and wicked it, there's only one way it can go on. The deck screws have to line up with the cutouts, and the airflow hole must match up with the airflow pin, which you'll see below.

As mentioned before, one thing that really surprised me was that the two airflow inlets at the top of atomizer are static, and do not close off at all. Where this disappointed me most was when I installed the smallest airflow pin (0.8mm diameter), I was expecting a very restricted MTL draw, and instead found it to be a fairly loose MTL. I think a tight MTL or even a regular MTL draw would have been easily attainable had the airflow inlets been on an airflow ring allowing you to close them off a bit. Even plugging one of the airflow inlets, I didn't notice hardly any difference in draw; still a loose MTL. I think this was a missed opportunity, but leaves room for a third iteration of the Alberich. The 2mm diameter airflow pin is a very loose MTL, almost a very tight RDL. And if you want to open it up even more, you can simply remove the airflow pin altogether which is how I currently have it set up. I would consider this a tight RDL which is more in line with how I'd normally vape. I would not suggest changing or washing the airflow rings over an open sink or drain - the airflow rings are quite small and will easily be lost into the nether if they're dropped.

Everything else about this atomizer is pretty standard. The refill ports have a membrane that do a fine job of keeping the refills mess-free, and the 510 drip tip is pretty standard with 2x O-rings. The maximum width is 23mm which makes this a prime choice for skinnier mods and/or SbS mods.

If you have no interest in how I did my builds, feel free to skip to the concluding portion of this review.

The Builds:

1689537300393.png

(Please disregard my use of the Pulse V3 squonk mod seen in the collage above - I was testing it for review)

The build was pretty standard. As you can see from the top left picture, there really isn't a whole lot of room on either side of the 2.5mm ID coil. You might be able to get away with a 2.5mm ID clapton coil, but I'm pretty sure a 3mm single strand wire will be too big for this tight chamber.

I dry burned the coil and it ohm'd out at around 0.85Ω. I ended up thinning the wicks out considerably (probably pulled out 1/3 of each wick end) and then cut the wick ends at the outer edges of the base cap. You can probably cut them a bit shorter, but risk flooding your deck if the wick ends do not fully seal off the juice ports when you put the inner chamber on the deck. I used 3mm rayon which is a pretty tight fit in a 2.5mm ID coil however, rayon shrinks when it gets wet, so it works out perfectly. If you're using rayon, I'd suggest doing this as well. For regular cotton wicks, remember you want the wick to make the "creaking" sound when moving it back and forth inside the coil, but not so tight that you deform the coil.

Remember when putting the inner chamber on top of the deck, that the airflow hole on the inner chamber must match up with the airflow pin. When reassembled the atomizer ohm'd out at 1.05Ω.

After having vaped with the 2.0mm airflow pin for 400 or so puffs, I switched it out for the smallest airflow pin which you'll see below.

1689538037077.png

One of the great things about this atomizer is that you can flip the atomizer upside down and remove the bottom cap with almost a full tank of juice. Having to remove the base cap to change the airflow pin is a much less daunting task than it first seems like. Unless the juice is higher than the outer chamber when flipped upside down, you're completely safe to remove the bottom base cap. I'd suggest removing the 510 drip tip so that you can set the tank down upside down w/out any worry of it tipping over.

To remove the airflow pin, I used a small screwdriver and pushed it out from the inside. From there, you can use the screwdriver to kind of pry it out w/out much effort. In the bottom two pictures, you can see the vast difference between the smallest airflow pin, and not using an airflow pin at all.

◆ CONCLUSION ◆

There are a few quirks that I'd like to see ironed out in the next Alberich iteration, but as a whole, I think they did many things right with this RTA. The machining and design of the Alberich II leaves not much to be desired, assuming you like the medieval aesthetic that Vapefly so often uses in their products. Yes, I wish the airflow tightened down to a tight MTL for the sake of those that like a very tight draw. The tightest draw is like that of an unpacked cigarette for those that are or were former smokers. This didn't bother me much however, because I like an RDL draw which is how I often vape MTL devices anyway. "Toodlepuffing" as some people on ECF like to call it, which is more or less how you'd puff on a cigar, is not particularly my thing.

Where the Alberich II excels is the directional flow of the airflow which makes it almost impossible to miss the coil, and the very tight chamber which creates a more potent vape. As an MTL-focused atomizer, I think it puts out quite a tasty treat, and should be taken into consideration if you're looking for a flavor burster.

One thing I will note is that during my testing, some of the sweeter juices I'm normally accustomed to were less sweet and/or tart, and had more of a rounded, aromatic flavor profile. I think this is something I've experienced with a lot of MTL devices and I actually like it. If you're a tobacco flavor person especially, I think this atomizer will treat you right.

++ PROS ++
> Pretty easy build deck
> Great machining
> Quarter-turn top cap
> Easy refill
> Top airflow (less leaks/mess is always great)
> 4mL tank
> Tight chamber
> Almost fail-proof directional airflow onto coil
> 6 airflow pins ranging from loose MTL to tight RDL (0.8 to 2.0mm diameter)
> Deck can be removed with almost a full tank
> Removable 510 drip tip (needs O-rings if using your own)

- - CONS - -
> Tightest airflow pin is a loose MTL/Top airflow inlets cannot be closed off

+- CONSIDERATIONS -+
> Skinny profile (23mm)
> No mention of a 2mL TPD option
> Deck must be removed to change airflow pins
> Airflow pins are very small - do NOT wash over open sinks/drains

Overall Rating:
8.5-9

And that's it folks! I hope I helped in shedding some light on the Vapefly Alberich II MTL RTA. Overall a great vape if you're looking for a mess-free loose MTL to tight RDL draw. The atomizer can be found on Sourcemore's page here, and if you use the code "almr2", the price drops down to $18.39.

Again, I'd like to thank Joyi over at Sourcemore for setting me up for this review, and stay tuned for more!

Thank you for reading and happy vape hoarding!

SMT's Frosted Cupcakes

Cupcakes.jpg

Frosted Cupcakes

FW Vanilla Cupcake 2.5%
FW Creamy Sponge Cake 1.5%
FW Cake Batter Dip 0.6%
WF Vanilla Cream Extra 1.5%
INW Custard 0.8%
OOO Powdered Sugar 1%

Steep time = 4 weeks / the ingredients dictate the steep time / as always, YMMV

On its own it is a very flavorful frosted cupcake. Smooth. Tasty. Moist. / See below for additions.

Cupcake base = FW Vanilla Cupcake, FW Creamy Sponge Cake and FW Cake Batter Dip. The cake batter dip adds moistness to the mix.

The frosting = WF VCE, INW Custard and OOO Powdered Sugar. I wanted a frosting that didn't scream "frosting".

Originally I mixed this minus the powdered sugar. Flavor-wise something was missing. It was good but the cupcake was lacking a more polished, or complete, taste. I shared this recipe with someone on ELR and they suggested adding the powdered sugar. She said it delivers a more finished product in nearly all bakery mixes.

I mixed another batch with powdered sugar. Tested mine minus the PS and then the one with PS. Her idea won out (Big Time). It truly delivered a more complete cupcake profile. Interestingly the powdered sugar didn't make any difference in the level of sweetness. I learned something new with using powdered sugar in bakery mixes.

Any single fruit or combinations of fruits will work with this mix. Start low with the percentages, you do not want a fruit overtaking the main profile. I made a batch with 2% FA Juicy Strawberry and was rewarded with a very nice strawberry cupcake.

1% of a chocolate flavor will give this a chocolaty tease, like a swirl, or a true chocolate cupcake at 2%. That very much depends on which chocolate flavor is used.
I mixed a version of this using SSA Chocolate Mousse at 1.25%. That gave the cupcake something like a chocolate swirl. The chocolate mousse was noticeable, it sat slightly back in the mix.

Add 1.5% WF Chocolate Frosting for, ummm, a chocolate frosted cupcake. If used, then skip adding an additional chocolate. Unless a bold chocolate forward cupcake is desired, then by all means, add another chocolate flavor.

WF Crumble Topping at 0.5% will add a nice streusel-like topping. Or, adding a nut flavor at 0.5% - 0.7% will add an interesting nutty twist.

INNOKIN KLYPSE ZIP POD KIT review by hittman

Hello and welcome. It’s been a little while since I’ve done a review for Innokin but here I am today with the Innokin Klypse Zip that was sent to me by Innokin in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Zip is a new version of the original Klypse that I reviewed in the past and liked very much. The original was more of a stick type pod with a magnetic cap where the Zip has more of a square shape and the dustproof cap is not magnetic. The Zip has a 650mah battery and comes with a 1.2 ohm empty pod but there are pre-filled pods available for purchase. The included pod has a capacity of 2ml which is pretty standard in the world of pods. The Klypse .8 ohm pods are compatible also with the Zip but not included. Unfortunately only one pod is included with the Zip and no charging cable is included. I assume this is to keep cost down on the kit.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

From the pictures I had seen, I thought the Klypse Zip was going to be much smaller than it actually was. It is kind of square in shape and similar in size to other “Nano” sized square pod devices that I have tried. I guess at 67.8mm * 44.5mm * 17mm it is really a rectangle more than a square but I think you understand where I’m coming from.

The packaging for the Zip is simple but nice. I believe that most if not all of the box is recyclable. The front has the Innokin and Klypse Zip names near the top followed by “Refillable pod kit” underneath letting you know what type of kit this is. I haven’t seen any but am guessing there will be kits with pre-filled pods available since they are offering different flavored pre-filled pods for purchase separately. Also on the front is a nice color picture of the Zip and the color version name. I received the Pearl version for my review. There are also three features with icons near the bottom of the front.

The back side of the box has a contents list which is just the Klypse Zip, one 1.2 ohm fixed coil pod, quick user guide, and a warning booklet. There is also a fairly lengthy warning on the back side followed by the company information. One side of the box does have an authenticity code in case you were wondering.

The bottom edges of the box has two paper stickers holding the tray inside in place that holds the Zip with the pod pre-installed. Innokin was also nice enough to include a two pack of the pre-filled pods in a Rose Lychee flavor. I have never liked floral flavors so had a feeling about these but went ahead and tried one. The flavor was pretty strong and just not for me. I like Lychee flavors but the Rose just didn’t agree with me.

The body of the version that I received is silver in color with a black dust cap. Unlike the original Klypse, the dust cover for the Zip is not magnetic. That was one of the features that really sold me on the original but can see why they didn’t do it on this one with as big as the dust cap is. You can see in the picture above that there is a loop molded on the right side where you can attach a lanyard if you like those. One is not included. The dust cap also has a hole in the top which I am guessing is to run the lanyard string through but to me is kind of counterproductive for those like myself that don’t use lanyards and just want to keep dust and pocket fuzz away from the pod. The hole is pretty small though so much shouldn’t get through. The cap is basically a pressure fit cap and stays on very well. It takes quite a bit of effort to pull it off.

The Zip has a 650mah battery with a charging rate of .75A which allows the battery to be fully charged in just under an hour. The Zip is auto draw only and there is no button and not airflow adjustment on the device. One welcome addition to the Zip that the original Klypse didn’t have is a battery indicator light. It does however seem odd to me that the light stays green until the battery is below 30%. To me that would make me want to charge the Zip as soon as the light turns yellow at 30%. Then it doesn’t turn red until the battery hits 10%. That battery level makes emergency lights go off in my head if it’s the only device I’m carrying with me. I would have liked to have seen a more even spread on the batter indicators.

As far as branding goes, the Innokin name is printed on one side while the Klypse Zip name is printed on the opposite side. It’s a little hard to see on the version that I received and appears to stand out more on darker colors.

The USB charging port is located on the bottom as well as the battery level indicator.

The pod opening on the Zip is pretty standard with two spring loaded plated contact that transfer power to the coil in the sealed pod. The coils are not replaceable. There is a magnet in opposite corners of the opening that hold the pod in place very securely. My hands are usually a little dry from my work and actually had some difficulty getting a grip on the pod and pulling it out of the opening. It was a mix of my hands and the portion of the pod protruding being smooth. There is also obviously the airflow sensor intake in the opening since it is auto draw only.

The single pod that comes with the Zip has a side fill port with a blue rubber plug. I had no difficulty filling the pod from a gorilla bottle without making a mess. I like the plug can be rotated out of the way while filling. The pod comes with a safety seal covering the coil connection to protect from accidental firing before filling.

The bottom of the pod has two magnets and two airflow inlet holes. When I looked at the bottom of the pod, the two holes looked to me like they were different sizes so I thought that perhaps there would be a difference in airflow depending on the way you insert the pod but I really couldn’t tell the difference. The 1.2 ohm Klypse pods have a fairly tight draw to them. I wasn’t sent any for the review but am told that the .8 ohm pods are also compatible but will obviously cut down on the battery life. What was included was a package of two pre-filled pods that are sealed and not refillable. In the third and fourth pictures below you can see the difference in the two pods and the difference in the mouthpiece shapes. The refillable pod is on the right in the last picture.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Like other Innokin products that I’ve used before, the Innokin Klypse Zip has a feel of a quality made product to it despite being targeted as a starter kit for smokers. Let me start by saying what I don’t like or agree with. I never agree with only including one pod in any kit. Perhaps one 1.2 and one .8 ohm pod each could be included. Either that or one refillable and one pre-filled to get the person started. Secondly, I really feel like a charging cable should have been included. They are a dime a dozen and should be included in my opinion.

What I do like is the looks and design of the Zip. The dust cap is an excellent idea for a device like this that will most likely be carried by most people either in a pocket or purse. I also feel like the 1.2 ohm pod is a good choice for a device with only 650mah rated battery but like I said, should have come with two. The battery level indicator is a great addition but have issues with the large range on the green light not turning yellow until it is down to 30%. That’s just my personal opinion.

The Klypse Zip performed wonderfully. I decided to use a custard cream tobacco with the 1.2 ohm pod and the flavor production was very good. The draw on the pod is a little too tight for my tastes but should be a good fit for smokers making the switch. I tended to draw too hard on the pod and every once in a while would get a tiny bit of liquid. That was my own fault for wanting more airflow. I do wish an airflow slider could have been included in the design but it is a starter kit after all.

Overall the Klypse is a pretty good starter kit to help smokers make the switch but am not sure that seasoned vapers will enjoy it unless they prefer tight MTL or are just looking for a small device to pocket carry with high mg liquid for out and about.

I’d like to thank Innokin and Alisa for sending the Innokin Klypse Zip pod kit for my review. As always thanks to the readers for sticking it out to the end. Below is a link to the website where you can check out all of the wonderful Innokin products.
