Voopoo was nice enough to send me a Christmas gift box and inside that box was a sample of the new Doric 20 SE that they included so that I could provide you with a fair and honest review on this new product from Voopoo. The SE has a 1200mah internal battery that they claim will provide the user with three days of use. I know the new ITO cartridge has a 1.0 ohm built in coil but seriously doubt that most people will get three days of use in between charges. The cartridge is made of PCTG and has a liquid capacity of 2ml which is very common as far as capacity goes on most pod devices. The output range is 8-18 watts and the operational resistance range of .5-1.2 ohms.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Doric 20 SE is a simple box that opens from one end. On the front is a clear viewing window so you can see the actual device inside which I like. The Voopoo name is at the top while the Doric 20 SE name is on the bottom and in the background is what I would call some sort of color spectrum. The back of the box has the standard contents list and company information.

Once the box is opened then the SE can be seen in a plastic tray and the user manual, product card and USB-C charging cable are located underneath the tray. I know I always say this but am disappointed that only one pod was included in the kit. I know it’s supposed to be an inexpensive starter kit but if the included single pod is bad then it’s not starting anything. The pod does come pre-installed in the SE but has a clear safety seal on the bottom of the pod to keep it from accidentally firing before being filled.

The Doric 20 SE has a 1200mah internal battery which is really a nice size for a pod device like this. It has a charging rate of 5V/1.5A so you should be able to fully charge the battery in about 50 minutes. Voopoo followed suit in the design of the SE with the original Doric and kept the ratio of column height to column diameter at 6:1. The body of the SE is made of an aluminum alloy giving it durability as well as keeping it lightweight without making it feel cheap. The promotional information on the SE claims that it can last for three days of vaping but you know as well as I do that it totally depends on the individual user. I personally wouldn’t expect a 1200mah battery to last me three days.

On one side of the SE is the Voopoo name etched on it as well as the USB-C charging port. On the opposite side there is the Doric name etched on the body and near the top is a single indicator light that illuminates when taking a puff or charging the battery and indicates the battery level. The battery level indications are as follows.

• Green = 66-100%
• Blue = 33-66%
• Red = <33%

The Doric 20 SE also offers some safety features which are indicated as follows.

• Low Battery = red light will flash 10 times
• Short Circuit = red light is steady red once
• Check Atomizer = red light flashes once
• Time Out = red light flashes 8 times( 8 second cutoff)
• Temp High = red light flashes 15 times

The ITO technology pod included in the SE kit is interchangeable with the Doric Q. The pod is said to last 10 days of vaping. I am assuming that is calculated by refilling the pod 3 times between charging every three days that the battery is supposed to last. So in other words, I believe it means if you fill the pod once a day for ten days then it will be time to change the pod. Of course results could vary depending on the liquid you are using. I typically use a low flavor percentage mint recipe in most pods and I tend to get longer life from the pods than the manufacturer suggests.

The ITO pod has a built in coil and is not replaceable so when the pod fails then you throw out the whole thing and get a new one. It is my understanding that there is also an ITO pod that uses separate coils that can be purchased separately. The pod is tinted but not so much that you can’t see the liquid level inside. The ITO pod is a side fill pod and uses a standard rubber plug that must be lifted in order to fill the pod. I found it easy to fill the pod without making a mess.

The ITO pod does not use magnets to hold it into the pod opening on the battery. Instead there is a lip inside the opening that catches on the pod and holds it very securely in place. It really clicks into place. The inside of the pod opening has the standard two gold plated spring loaded contacts as well as the airflow sensor since the SE is auto draw only with no button. The bottom of the pod has two fairly large airflow openings that draw air in from the two airflow inlet holes in the side of the body of the battery portion. This airflow design has proven to provide a very smooth draw when vaping.

The bottom of the SE has a rubberized circle on the bottom to help keep it from sliding when standing it upright on a desk or table. There are also two battery vent holes for an added safety feature.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I always try to keep an open mind when it comes to reviewing pods. Sometimes one will surprise you that you didn’t really expect the best results from. Especially when it doesn’t have any extra features like airflow control or selectable output levels. I have to say that Voopoo has put out quite a few pretty good pod devices this past year so I have somewhat come to expect good performance even from their most simplistic devices. I was not disappointed with the Doric 20 SE. I very much like it. It has a little more battery capacity than the average pod device and has a 1.5A charging rate to get you back up and going quickly. I felt like the flavor production was very good for a pod device and was very surprised by the large amount of vapor produced with the 1.0 ohm coil. The literature says it has a constant output of 12 watts but it sure seemed like more than that to me. Maybe it was just the combination of the right airflow, constant output, and a good coil. Either way, I was very pleased with the performance of the Doric 20 SE. Not only does it vape very well and was a surprisingly warm vape, but it looks good too. I very much liked the orange fade on the sample that I received.

I know a lot of people are getting tired of seeing pod after pod released and get bored with them. Trust me, I have reviewed more pods last year than I can remember and sometimes get a little burned out reviewing them. The nice thing about being able to test so many is I can help sort out the good, mediocre, and bad ones and hopefully help people keep from spending money on poorly performing equipment.

The Doric 20 SE is not a fancy feature packed pod but it does what it promises and does a pretty darn good job at it. I personally very much like the airflow on this one even though it isn’t adjustable. The draw is very smooth on it with the long mouthpiece. I’d call it a drip tip but it really isn’t as the tip and pod are all one piece. So, if you’re looking for a simple auto draw pod that performs very well but is still small enough to throw in a pocket then I’d recommend this one. There is also a lanyard that I received in the gift box with it but don’t know if it is available for purchase. I personally don’t use lanyards so you won’t see any kind of PV hanging from my neck.

My question is what coil would be best for the fireluke 4 ? I was going to get 904L X2 coils but I can't find them anywhere in anything but .15 ohms and I'm worried the hits will be too hot for me and not have enough flavor. So now I'm considering which of the X/TX series would be best.

I was referred here by Z-Lee because I was wondering about how the ohm of a coil affects the flavour of e liquid especially the sweetness of a flavour.

Hello and welcome to another review today. I have to admit that I’ve been procrastinating on writing this one. I was sent the BP Mods Tomahawk SBS Squonk Mod by Dovpo in order to provide a fair and honest review. When I received the Tomahawk, it arrived in a plastic bag and there was no box, user manual, or accessories included. I have been trying to find out more information on this mod kit but have found very little so please bear with me as I try my best to cover this mod. It has not even been added to the Dovpo website at the time of writing this. I did find it for sale on a couple of U.K. websites but did not find much information on it and have not seen any other reviews that really covered the function of it. Here’s what I do know. It is obviously an SBS (side by side) mod that uses a single 18650 battery and comes with a squonk bottle that has a 510 male connector on one end and a female 510 on the other end with the center being open so you can squonk with it. The mod itself is made of SS and aluminum and weighs in at 120g which is really a pretty nice weight and gives it a good hand feel without being too heavy.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

Normally this is where I tell you about the packaging but I didn’t receive any packaging with it except a clear plastic bag and don’t feel like that is worth showing. Instead, I’ll start out by talking about my experience with the Tomahawk upon receiving it.

Without a user manual and not being able to find much about it when I received it, I tried to figure out how to fill the included squonk bottle. Keep in mind that I received this along with the rest of the BP Mods samples that I have already posted reviews on. I purposely waited to do this one last in hopes of finding out more or at least being able to download a user manual. I have gone to the Dovpo website many times to check for promotional images and a user manual but as of today it still isn’t up on the website and I’m not really sure why when there are online stores taking orders for it already.

I got a little off track already but going back to filling the squonk bottle. Other bottles I’ve used always open from one end or the other but this one does not. It took me quite a while to figure out how to fill it and I felt rather stupid after I did figure it out. I thought the top would unthread and you would fill from the top. That’s not the case. There is a round thick rubber seal on the top of the bottle that forms a seal with whatever rda you choose to use with it for squonking. I finally tried to lift that seal and discovered that it functions much like a rubber plug does on a pod type device and although it’s a little hard to lift at first, you can easily fill the bottle and push the seal back down to close it off. Once you screw the rda down on top of it then it secures that seal even more. Of course once I figured out how to open it then it was that I noticed the arrows molded into the top of the seal that show you where to lift to fill the bottle. The bladder in the bottle is replaceable and is very soft so you need to be careful not to over squonk when pushing on it. It moves quite a bit of liquid pretty easily.

Of course if you don’t like squonking then you can still use the Tomahawk as a standard SBS mod. I haven’t yet but want to try the bottle on some of my other SBS mods and some day may buy a few spare bottles. If you choose to use it as a standard mod then it will accept tanks up to 24mm in diameter. Anything much larger than that and there isn’t room to screw the tank onto the mod.

I personally do like squonk mods and so I decided to try it as intended. I chose to run a Dead Rabbit Solo RDA on it since the Tomahawk has a top end of 60 watts. I ran a single Ni80 fused Clapton coil at .35 ohms at 33 watts on the DR Solo.

As you can see below, the side of the mod has the round fire button near the top with the + and – buttons directly below it. The fire button is easy enough to find when thumb firing like I prefer but do wish it protruded a little more so it was easier to find by feel rather than sometimes having to look for it. It has a nice click to it when pressed and have never had a no fire situation when testing the mod.

The battery is loaded from the top of the mod and have to admit that I don’t love the battery cap on this one. I have never been real crazy about battery caps that are not solid and let you see the top of the battery. The battery is loaded with the positive side down so as you can see, the negative is on top and you can see it through the battery cap.

In the second picture below, if you look at the bottom of the mod on the back side, this is where the USB-C charging port is located. I know it’s not recommended to charge batteries inside of the mod but as much as I don’t like the battery cap, I have to admit that I am tempted to just plug in the mod and charge the battery.

The display for the Tomahawk mod is on the front and is somewhat small but still able to be read fairly easily. It shows the Set Wattage, Output Voltage, Coil Resistance, and Battery level indicator When in Power mode. The Tomahawk mod does offer some different modes such as the normal TC modes and Bypass. Rather than type out the button functions like I normally do, I found this really handy chart online that is the second picture below and clearly explains the button functions for the Tomahawk mod.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I would like to say that it’s been a pleasure doing this review but honestly it was quite the pain since I feel like I may have left some things out due to the fact of not receiving proper packaging and a user manual. On top of that I do not understand why Dovpo wouldn’t take the time to put this fantastic mod up on their website. Actually using and testing the mod has indeed been a pleasure. The mod gives off a feeling of a high quality made device. It’s very comfortable to hold and use without being too heavy even after the bottle is filled and an rda is placed on top. It really has quite a natural feel to it and can definitely see myself using this one long term.

I do like the design idea where you can use it as a squonk mod or as a standard mod by simply unscrewing the bottle. Even with the bottle and an rda installed it doesn’t seem too tall to me at all. Also being able to take the bottle and use it on any mod with a 510 connection is a nice bonus. I have a handful of SBS mods and could see myself using one of these bottles on those mods also.

I felt like the Tomahawk did a good job of battery management while using only an 18650. Running at 33 watts was a good fit for me and the battery seemed like it lasted a good while. I don’t know much about the chipset on this one so can’t really tell you about it other than it seems rather user friendly and has decent features.

So, with what I know at this point, would I recommend the Tomahawk SBS Mod for you? If you like SBS mods whether you squonk or not this is a well built and well-functioning mod and I would definitely recommend it.

Anyone can point me to a tried & true "Jamaican Rum" recipe but one that doesn't contain the vaping ingredients most say to avoid, i.e. Acetyl Propionyl, Diketones etc??

Way before I started making my own juice, I had tried an Jamaican Rum flavor at a vape shop that I absolutely loved. Best I could describe it is, it was a "warm" somewhat "heavy" flavor.

I have other mixes that I'm happy with, but everytime I've tried making a Jamaican Rum mix, I simply cannot get it right.

Also anyone know diff between the various Jamaican Rum or Rhum concentrates, TFA, etc?

Above all I seek in vape is flavour and stuff that will last, like a good box mod with great battery life/capacity, an rta tank that will give out max flavour and consume minimal e-juice and coil and wick that will last longest.

I like to diy alot, for me the best about rta is the endless possibilities to experiment. Atm I am working hard on oxva arbiter solo to find the perfect setup for tcr ss316l coil.

Eleven years ago my wife came home with a blue cig-alike that she got from a coworker. She gave it to me to try because I was smoking two packs aday and blues we're the new hype and they even had commercials on tv supporting vaping at the time.

I immediately took a liking to the new technology and did alot of research. Shortly after I purchased two started kits with cartomizers and ego pens. One kit for me and one for her. The learning curve was a little rough with all the leaking in the pockets as supposed to smoking but I was determined to get it right. My wife decided that she couldn't vape because it was to difficult to maintain. I offerd to do everything for her, cleaning, refilling and purchasing everything necessary for us to continue vaping.

She was adamant that it was easier to smoke and that she didnt like the vaping. Over the course of the eleven years I have been vaping I've tried over and over to get her to stop smoking and vape with me but to no avail.

Here's the kicker, I feel like she saved me from smoking but couldn't save herself from the addiction. November 30th 2022 my wife went to the hospital to get a cat-scan for a small hernia in her stomach and an annual breast check up. The xray tech must have been heaven sent because he noticed something else and ask her to get back on the machine. It was bad news, she has renal carcinoma from smoking with high blood pressure. The cancerous tumor has consumed her entire right kindy with very little good tissue left. She is so so lucky that the cancer hasnt spread into her lymphs and veins. November 30th 2022 was the last day she had a cigarette.

Shes going into surgery mid January and it sucks that this had to happen for her to quit smoking. Do yourself a favor if you still smoke and cant quit, vape and dont quit learning about vaping. Its probably bad too but it will never be as bad as smoking. I rather have a little lung inflammation then cancer or an organ removed.
