These tests below only note my personal opinion for the ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, EVE, Lishen, BAK, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C to help lower the risks and extend cell life, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
It’s been a while since I last tested the Molicel P30B and it now has the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) required wrap printing showing the model number, polarity marks, minimum capacity, nominal voltage and “CCC”. This certification requires the cell to undergo additional testing if manufactured or sold in China and is a good thing to see.

These 2024-dated cells are incredible performers, doing even better than the last time I tested the P30B. The P30B is replacing the P28A (P28B was never a production cell) and is now my top choice for any use at above about 7A or so. For about 5A or lower the EVE 35V runs for a bit longer.

In the Moli spec sheet the P30B’s 30A rating is temperature-limited to an 80°C max cell temp but the cells I tested only reached about 78°C at 30A down to 2.5V. This seems to be a true continuous 30A rating.

Some other results and info…

• At 5A the P30B equals or runs for a bit longer than the VTC6, MJ1, and 30Q6.
• At 10A-30A the P30B outperforms every 18650 I have tested, sometimes by a little, sometimes by a lot.
• The Moli web site mentions a 36A max current rating and 100W max power rating. Stay under 80°C cell surface temperature!
• P30B’s do not have the laser-etched QR-style code box on the bottom like the P45B and P50B. But they do have a tiny laser-etched code on the side of the can with the last six characters seeming to match the date code on the wrap. This appears to be a great way to authenticate a cell…until counterfeiters buy laser etching printers.
• DC IR for the two cells I tested measured 9.4mOhms and 9.4mOhms. This is extraordinary consistency and is what makes Molicels so great, especially for pack building.
• Capacities for the two cells was 3007mAh and 3008mAh, also also extraordinary consistency.
• The standard charge rate is 3A and the maximum rate is 9A (temp-limited to 60°C). Like all cells I’m sure that the cycle life will be shorter if charging at the max rate a lot.

Hello and welcome back for another review. This time I was sent the YiHi SXmini MQ Class Mod by Sourcemore in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The MQ is a very compact mod that uses a single 18650 battery for an output range of 1-60 watts. It can fit a tank up to 24mm without any overhang and is made of stainless steel and aluminum via a CNC process. The output voltage is 1-8V so it is obviously boosting the output voltage.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

I was really surprised by how small the box is for the MQ. I thought that if the box is this small then the mod had to be really small and it is. The front of the box has both the SXmini and the MQ Class names printed on the front along with a large warning on the bottom. I personally think this warning is ridiculous as everyone knows that there isn’t any nicotine in a mod but the manufacturer is just following the required laws. The back of the box has a contents list, some features, and a second large warning.

Once the box is opened, the MQ is visible and there is a USB cable, user manual and warranty card. I have to hand it to SXmini when it comes to the user manual. It is probably one of if not the best manuals that I’ve seen. You can see in the picture below that the nice sized fire button is located on the wider side of the mod instead of the end like we see on many mods. Below the fire button is the display screen which I will cover in detail later, followed by the + and – buttons.

In the second picture you can see the MQ beside the Gen SE which is also an 18650 mod. The MQ is much shorter and a bit less wide. The third picture also shows the mirrored center strip on the back side of the MQ with MQ Class etched into it.

The MQ can fit an atomizer with a base of up to 24mm without overhang which is really good in my opinion for such a small device. The top plate is held in place with two torx head screws. The 510 center pin is plated and spring loaded. There are four airflow channels cut into the top plate. It is my understanding that some older tanks actually drew airflow from the 510 connection so those would work on this mod. Also I think the cut outs look cool.

The MQ makes use of a threaded screw in battery cap like many mods are using these days. The cap is partially open which would allow for battery venting should something happen. The base is also held in place with two torx head screws like the top plate. The plate has the SXmini and MQ Class names etched on it. In the second picture below you can see that battery polarity is clearly marked inside the compartment with a large red +. The threaded cap has a raised center to help make contact with the battery negative. The bottom plate also contains the USB-C charging/update port. One thing to take note of is that if you charge the battery in the mod then it will automatically reset the puff counter so if the count is important to you then you will want to use an external charger. It seems like a really odd feature to me.

The display screen for the MQ is pretty basic. It has a battery level indicator, puff counter, set wattage, coil resistance, and output voltage. The MQ has a maximum output voltage of 8 volts. I really don’t mind the simplistic display. Normally I set the wattage for the tank I am using and don’t really change it or look at the display much except for the occasional glance to see where the battery level is.

The button/menu operation for the MQ is as follows.

• Press the fire button 5X to turn on the mod or access the menu where you can select from Wattage, Voltage, Temperature, or VT Coil modes
• Press the fire button 3X to lock/unlock

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I have really enjoyed testing the SXmini MQ Class Mod. I very much like the small size of the mod that almost disappears in the hand. The basic display and easy to operate menu system is nice in a world of way too complicated operating menus that some mods have. It is small but has a feeling of quality being made of good materials. I don’t mind the limited 60 watt maximum output. I tend to use small mods like this with MTL tanks and the 24mm atomizer capacity is a good fit. I ran the Hellvape Dead Rabbit MTL 2 tank during my testing with one of my favorite NET tobacco mixes. The battery management seemed very good and ran almost 400 puffs with the wattage set at 23w. I really don’t use any modes besides wattage on any of my mods but it is nice that the MQ can do TC, Curves, and has VT Coil mode if that is something that you like to use. VT Coil mode is a dry hit protection mode intended for use only with VT coils. I didn’t have any for the review so wasn’t able to test that.

I've smoked cigarettes before a blood test but this last test was the first time since I started vaping. I don't know if that caused the issue or not but I was fasting before the test, other than a cup of coffee and vaping.

The Diplomat, Ulton version, is a fairly well-known MTL atomizer in Italy.
It was gifted to me by the producer NK , or NK Coils, who, in addition to supplying wire and complex coils, also has a shop where they sell various interesting products, which I will link at the end of the text.
I came across NK wires by pure chance, as I imagine anyone who uses Aliexpress or Asian eshops has seen the NK Coils alluminion box or spool in the recommendations. I purchased my first spool of wire last January (2024) and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the wire, which is a very important factor. After introducing it to other Italian friends, they confirmed my impressions.



Initially, it was conceived by a group of Spanish vapers who later had the project manufactured in China.
Italians and Spanish people don't always see eye to eye when it comes to food. Their national dish is paella, while the closest Italian equivalent would be risotto. However, pizza and pasta are far more famous worldwide.
But when it comes to organic tobaccos, it seems we have similar tastes, as many of our tobacco extracts were also sold in the Iberian Peninsula.
The Diplomat is inspired by a pipe of the same name, featuring 3 different bells that take the shape of 3 additional pipes. Despite this, it is still suitable for use with creamy and VCT liquids.
The Diplomat made by Ulton has a diameter of 23 mm and a height of 40.5 mm (without the drip tip), weighing 57.5 grams (also without the drip tip) and a capacity of 4 ml. Made of SS304L, the finish tends to be slightly more matte compared to other atomizers. The Ulton packaging includes the Diplomat, the 3 bells (one installed) from the first batch (Rhodesian, Hawkbill, Duke), a PSU tank section to replace the PC one, plenty of O-rings, two spare screws, and a U-tool to unscrew the bottom.



The drip tip is entirely made of steel, with a 4 mm wide hole. Its height, excluding the part that inserts into the atomizer, is 13.2 mm, while the diameter of the hole measures 4 mm. It is also possible to unscrew the base of the drip tip, which is held in place with threading. The 510 drip tip slot on the Diplomat Ulton is of standard size, so any drip tip, with thicker or thinner O-rings, fits without issues. The top cap, if it can be called that, does not unscrew, as the refill is exclusively from the bottom.



The tank of the Diplomat Ulton does not have threads for attachment to the bell section, but it is held in place by two O-rings. Instead, there is a threading to keep the steel and plastic parts together. By default, it comes assembled with the polycarbonate section, but it can be replaced with the PSU section included in the package.



The three bells included in the kit are always inspired by real pipe designs.

- Rhodesian (conical)
- Hawkbill (round)
- Duke (the flat one)

You can easily see that they vary in volume, and their weight ranges between 21 and 22 grams. The connection with the chimney is well-made, both in terms of execution (aesthetic) with no imperfections and because there is enough steel to prevent the bell from heating up easily. They are internally threaded, and once screwed onto the deck, they represent the only point of sealing between the two parts.



The three bells included in the kit, which are composed of a single body with the chimney and top cap, are, always inspired by real pipe designs: from left to right:

- Rhodesian (conical): internal width 14.5 mm
- Hawkbill (round): internal width 15.5 mm
- Duke (flat): internal width 15 mm

They vary significantly, even internally, to alter the perception of tobacco. As an atomizer, it was designed to vape a specific tobacco called Latakia, both solo and in mixtures (famous English blends or the so-called Balkan blends). However, as I mentioned earlier, it is also possible to vape VCT and creamy liquids without any issues.

The chimney diameter is 4 mm for all of them: it's truly a MTL atomizer.



The deck has a very good thickness, preventing overheating or transferring heat to the bell. Its seal is also supported by the O-ring present on the deck itself. The design is simple, with no liquid control and two permanently open rectangular air holes. During cottoning, be sure to cover both holes to ensure a constant and abundant liquid flow. To prevent flooding, the air hole, though not entirely clear, is sufficiently raised from the deck, "encased" by the positive post. The posts have horizontal notches relative to how the wire should be passed through, helping to keep it in place. The cross screws are well-made.



The airflow ring is removable from below. With the Diplomat installed on the box, there is half a millimeter of space between the bottom and the ring, allowing it to rotate freely without the risk of scratching the box. The airflow ring features a single hole, with options of: 0.8 mm, 1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.4 mm, 1.6 mm, and 2 mm. It also includes a stopper, which is very convenient for unscrewing the deck.



To unscrew the bottom, it is not necessary to unscrew the pin first. Simply insert the tool into the two holes to release the entire structure and, if needed, remove whatever is necessary.



That curious "nut" in the middle is the bottom with the two holes, and all that mechanism serves to stabilize and tighten the draw. In MTL vaping, silence and the right amount of resistance are very important factors when judging an MTL atomizer.



For a thorough cleaning, it's possible to unscrew the pin-airflow, which also allows you to replace it with aftermarket MTL versions. The PEEK insulator is well-fitted into the pin, and mine still seems reluctant to be removed, so rest assured it isn't loose. Removing the pin also takes out the positive post and its insulator, which requires attention. Reassembling everything is simple, as the deck has a recess where the post is easy to hold in place with your thumb or by flipping the deck onto a flat surface while screwing in the pin.



Being an MTL atomizer, for me the maximum usable wire is 27 gauge. A 26 gauge generates a really hot vapor. But I know that but I know that in the rest of the world is normal to use even complex coils. Despite the cultural differences, NK Coils offers both single wires, like the one in the picture, as well as many pre-made MTL complex coils or complex spools at an affordable price and excellent quality.

Aromatically, what changes with the three bells?

- Rhodesian (conical): the one that most highlights the tobacco, intensifying the top notes.
- Hawkbill (round): probably the most suitable for creamy liquids, VCT, flavored tobaccos in general, and even fruity ones. Very smooth vapor, tends to soften the flavor (in a good way).
- Duke (flat): the most balanced, with a fairly wide aromatic spectrum, capturing many of the ingredients and nuances of an e-liquid.

This is a bit of the world of those who vape tobaccos, but also of those who truly elevate MTL atomizers to the level of pipe or cigar smoking.
I also hope to have introduced a truly excellent wire manufacturer. When vaping tobaccos, which contain a high sugar content, I regenerate the coil once a day; with one coil, it is possible to vape 4 ml of extracts, and it can be cleaned once, but after 8 ml, it needs to be discarded. Over the years, I've gone through a lot of meters of wire, and NK Coils is one of the best I've tried.
