Friday, 03 June, my NET “stews” hit the three month mark and I filtered them over that weekend. Four of these are definite keepers.


Rattray’s Marlin Flake:
A little weak at 10% so I increased the mix to 12%, then 15%. More steep time might change the mix, however. Definitely a straight Virginia, yet I detect hints of honey and vanilla. Tobaccoreviews.com lists this as a Virginia/Perique blend, but I taste no Perique. I like this.

Kingfisher:
This was my favorite Burley/Virginia/Perique blend to smoke and I’d even reserved a pipe for it. Discovering I disliked the vape was a huge surprise. It’s got a smoke-cured flavor that is too reminiscent of Latakia for my taste.

Escudo Navy Deluxe:
This was one of my favorite tobaccos to smoke, perhaps because of the novelty of the coin cut. Still a worthwhile extract. I’ve bumped to a 12% mix. A candidate for more steep time.

McClelland No. 2010 with 15% Perique:
I’d highly recommend this except it can’t be reproduced now that McClelland has closed their doors. I’m fortunate to have about a pound of the tobacco left. First vape puff was wonderful! The liquid has a very pale color mixed at 10%, but the flavor is plenty strong. Spiced apricots is a flavor I get on occasion. So far, this is my favorite.

McClelland No. 2015:
This is a Virginia/Perique blend of McClelland’s own. Very much like my No. 2010 with 15% Perique. It’s good, but I need to spend more time with it.

Gawith, Hoggarth and Co. Louisiana Flake:
This one was an experiment with almost assured failure. This tobacco had the manufacturer’s distinctive floral, perfumey flavor when smoked and that carried over to the extract. I couldn’t finish one tank, but I’ll let it steep a month and retry.

► Dovpo 220W MVP Box Mod; First Impressions:
MVP 220W Box Mod is electronically regulated and is the latest product released by DOVPO. MVP Mod uses a classic design very popular in the dual-battery sector, the frame is entirely made of sturdy zinc alloy like the side doors which are covered with a carbon fiber texture. Despite the zinc alloy the Mod is quite light and weighs only 110g and the ergonomic form factor makes the mod quite handy. Only one regret for the color received (Carbon Fiber-Pink), I have nothing against pink, but I would have much preferred any of the other basic colors, including one of the "special" ones that are full of grit and that they portray tigers and demons.





► Dovpo 220W MVP Box Mod; Battery compartment:
In the back of the mod there is a recess indicated by the word "Open" and an arrow. This recess houses a tab integrated into the cover / batteries, so just lift with a fingernail to access the compartment / batteries.



The inside of the lid is partially coated with a black and insulating adhesive strip. In internal cover are two invisible magnets which are effectively attracted to the internal metal edges of the Mod. The slots for the batteries are made of flame ......ant material, the polarity symbols are marked and the contact pins are gold plated, furthermore the lower pins are loaded with spring and with the presence of the cord it becomes very easy to extract the two 18650 cells.



Initially I was wondering where the USB-C port was, so I turned the Mod in my hands several times before finding it, then I eventually found that the USB-C port was hidden inside the Mod, next to the slots for batteries, protected from dust and humidity !.



► Dovpo 220W MVP Box Mod; Bottom Base & Thread 510:
The presence of 4 tiny feet and a generous "footprint" guarantee a safe support base for the Mod. In this sample there are not the usual writings on the bottom and there are not even the safety vent holes, however air passes abundantly between the junction of the cover with the frame of the mod and this should be enough or at least Dovpo believes it.



The stainless steel plate is screwed onto the upper edge with two French screws and is cleverly raised to prevent scratches on the paint when inserting the Tanks. The pin on the bottom of the thread is gold plated and is spring loaded. MVP Mod can accommodate any tank up to 26mm in diameter, without external protrusions. Dovpo indicates his Blotto V1.5 RTA as perfect for the Mod! However I have the complete collection of Blotto RTAs! ... These Tanks were just waiting to be paired with a Mod like this to produce big clouds of vapor.





I had a lot of fun alternating my Blotto RTAs on the Mod and I would say that the Blotto obviously goes divinely well with MVP, but incredibly the aesthetic result with a 22mm MTL tank is not despicable, good!





► Dovpo 220W MVP Box Mod; Screen and control keys:
the Mod is electronically regulated and offers a maximum power of 220W, with increments / decrements of 0.5W at a time from 5W up to 100W, and then passing at increments / decrements of 1W at a time from 100 to 220W. The chipset interfaces with a 0.96 color display and supports multiple modes; Power, Voltage and Temp (which includes Temp NI, Temp TI and Temp SS). The display appears pleasantly bright, however some fonts are too small for me and I have to wear glasses to tell them apart. The keys in total are three and they all share the same circular design, they are precise and comfortable to press. The fire button is the larger one and is positioned above the screen, the "+" and "-" buttons are located at the bottom below the screen. The various key combinations allow the adjustments of the Mod as follows;

• Power On / Off: 5 clicks on the Fire button
• Press the Fire button three times to access the menu. Scroll through the menu options with the "-" or "+" buttons. Press the Fire button to confirm the settings.
• To lock / unlock the "-" and "+" keys, keep the same "-" and "+" keys pressed together.
• VW mode: Press "+" or "-" to adjust in increments of 0.5W from 5 to 100W and 1W at a time from 100 to 200W
• VV mode: Press "+" or "-" to adjust in voltage increments of 0.1V at a time and from 0.8V to 8.0V.
• TC mode (NI, TI, SS316) In temperature control mode, press or hold the "+" or "-" buttons to adjust the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
• The submenu, “STATS” shows how many Puffs have been totaled since the last reset.
• Brightness adjustment; Go to the "BRIGHT" submenu to adjust the screen brightness.
• To choose the background color you have two options between green and red and you can find them in the "Color" submenu

* Dovpo 220W MVP Box Mod integrates the most important safety functions and they are the following;
• Protection against battery reversal.
• Short circuit protection
• Open circuit warning
• 10S "Time out protection.
• Over temperature protection: If the card temperature exceeds 75 ° C / 167 °
• Low voltage protection: If the battery level is below 6.4V or one of the batteries has a value below 2.9V.



► Final conclusions:
The classic design of MVP Mod does not have unnecessary decorations or intrusive writings, the form factor is manageable, the choice of colors available is wide and the side panels (depending on your choice) strongly characterize the final appearance of the Mod, so you can choose between; understated look, sporty look or gritty look. The choice is yours! The finishes are up to the Dovpo brand and also the dimensions of the Mod are rather contained for being a dual battery. Thanks to the conformation of the upper plate, MVP Mod can elegantly accommodate various types of 25 / 26mm tank, therefore, if necessary, also 22 / 24mm tank for MTL. The proprietary chipset is responsive and accurate in wattage selection, manages batteries well and offers correct and robust power delivery with any wattage set. Ultimately MVP Mod 220W is certainly a good choice for cloud hunters.

What is one to do. I started using e-cigs to stop from smoking and for years, I've done just that. Now, the main shippers USPS, UPS, FED-Ex and DHL are refusing to ship anything to do with them to Oregon.
