For what it's worth...

I'm totally anti-tobacco and truly believe the nearly effortless switch to vaping years ago has saved my life. Yet, I recently spoke with one of my doctors, a lung specialist who told me that hot oil “cooks” your lungs. “Smoking cigarettes kills you slowly, vaping kills you quicker” he said. So, for what it’s worth, I think this is something people should know about.

New to all, saying Hi everyone

Hi All,
I have purchased a Voopoo Drag S w/ Coastal Cloud Menthol 35mg & 50mg plus Salt Menthol nkd. Not sure what mg to use, so purchased couple different. The guy at vape shop introduced me to the Salt. I have purchased a pen type vape and of course the cheap convenient store ones in past, both I couldn’t take too harsh, cough my head off.
I am new to vaping so I don’t understand what pieces are named or terminology yet.
What brings me here today is, every so often, my new Voopoo Drag S, usually when it’s sit a few minutes or so, if I push button it will make a pop sound, just once. First time scared me and I didn’t want use it, but picked it up tried again. Has anyone experienced this? It still works fine. The pop is not consistent so I haven’t figured out what to do or not do to stop this one pop.
Hope these help get me off cigarettes!
Glad to be here!

VooPoo Drag X - uneven power/heating issue?

Hi,

I just got a Drag X and I find sometimes when taking a hit the power seems to cut in and out for a fraction of second, a couple of times each drag. I can tell by the heat of the vapor (it gets cooler) and changes in consistency of the the sizzling noise. It does this for about 25% of the hits I take.

Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong?

I've got the 0.15 Ohm coil in, on Smart mode at 50W, (and the "P" symbol shows, whatever that means...). Firmware is 1.0.0.0. Battery is full.
Display format is like the attached photo (not mine).

It's weird too - I don't seem to be able to get into the puff interface by pressing +/-, and neither can I set the clock by holding all 3 buttons (it goes to chipset ID instead).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bench Test Results: LG H50 21700 Sample…performs same as Samsung 50E3, not a “super cell”

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
This is a new cell and I do not know its true ratings but it performs identically to the Samsung 50E3 and a lot worse than the Samsung 50S. It is not a 25A ultra-high capacity “super cell”.

This does not mean it is a bad cell though! The Samsung 50E3 is a great performer at under 10A, best at 5A-7A, and this cell performs well at that level too. This LG H50 should be a great option for low power use, under 20W.

The Samsung 50E is rated at 9.8A continuous and 14.7A non-continuous if you keep the cell temperature below 60°C. and that can be a guide to using this LG cell. You use this cell at your own risk though! Test the cell thoroughly before you use it and determine the current rating that best fits your application and your cycle life, performance, and safety priorities.

Hopefully I can find a datasheet soon and post the true ratings.

The two cells I tested delivered 4983mAh and 5016mAh. This is not great consistency for cells from the big manufacturers but perhaps these are preproduction samples and the final tweaks are still to be done.

Two cells were donated for testing by Vapcell (18650 batteries, Vapcell batteries, 18650 Chargers). Thank you!

VooPoo Vinci 2 Pod Kit Review - Z-Lee

N1pUKQVYThaJaA_wQEEWXQ.png

**Some pictures were used from SourceMore.com & VooPoo.com**

Welcome to another addition of Z-Lee's overly done reviews. I'd to say that this review will be quick and thorough, but I know the former portion would be lying. So, without adieu, I'd like to introduce you to the VooPoo Vinci 2. I was told when the product was being sent, that it was a Vinci X2, so when I started looking up pictures for the X2 and noticed that my pod kit did not look like the pictures I was looking at, I was a bit confused at first. I didn't even notice on the box when I opened it that it wasn't an X2, lol. The biggest differences between the Vinci 2 and Vinci X2 is the battery. The Vinci X2 is a bit bigger and has room for an 18650 with a wattage range that extends up to 80 watts. I'll get into that information regarding the Vinci 2 down below.

I want to thank @VOOPOO_Thea for arranging the giveaway back in June and having the product sent. I'm a huge VooPoo fan simply because their products are sleek and they fire instantaneously. For the price range their products compete in, they're hard to beat, although other contenders are quickly catching ground.

This review of the VooPoo Vinci 2 will be done without bias as I am not affiliated or gaining benefits from VooPoo, simply a lucky giveaway winner. Yes I enjoy VooPoo products, but nothing is perfect. Also, I abhor misinformation.

I've been chugging on this puppy for about 3 weeks now. That is the extent of my experience with this mod, so any unknown information beyond that should be noted.

The not so quick and dirty.

What to expect in the box:

20210723_144231.jpg
  • VooPoo Vinci 2 Pod Mod
  • VooPoo Vinci 2 6.5mL Pod (2mL pod for TPD version)
  • PnP-VM1 0.3Ω Coil (Red)
  • PnP-TM2 0.8Ω Coil (Blue)
  • Type-C Cable
  • User Manual (Not shown)

Photo Storyboard:

Specs:

VOOPOO_VINCI_2_Kit_specification.jpg
  • Readable coil resistance between 0.15 to 3Ω.
  • Output Voltage: 3.2 to 4.2V (not buck boosted)
  • Output Power: 5-50W (Max wattage depends on coil used)
  • 0.8Ω could only reach 18 watts
  • 0.3Ω coil could only reach 40 watts.
  • RBA coil wattage cap will likely depend on coil resistance.

Coils in the Box:

czJdT4RSQ7iFnbqSH1BZ_g.png
  • PnP-VM1 will likely be more enjoyable for the RDL/DL vaper.
  • PnP-TM2 will likely be preferred by loose MTL vapers. There is no restricted MTL for this pod, more on this below.

Portability:

VOOPOO_VINCI_2_Kit_portable.jpg
  • The Vinci 2 is quite small and light.
  • Definitely compact enough to toss in your pocket or purse w/out being too noticeable.
20210808_054042.jpg

Standing next to a Smok RPM 2S for comparison

Key Features:

VOOPOO_VINCI_2_Kit_feature.jpg
  • [Auto] Mode allows for an inhale to fire the mod. [A&P] Mode allows for an inhale or button fire. [P] Mode only allows for button fire.
  • All 3 Modes operate very well.
VOOPOO_VINCI_2_Kit_coils.jpg
  • Coils not shown: TM1 (0.6Ω - MTL), TM2 (0.8Ω - MTL), TR1 (1.2Ω - MTL)
VOOPOO_VINCI_2_Kit_UI.jpg
  • UI can be arranged both vertically and horizontally by holding down the (+) and (-) buttons simultaneously
AFcontrol.jpg
  • "Infinite Airflow" is a one-size fits all. It doesn't achieve strict MTL or open DL very well. I'd say the range is very loose MTL to RDL.
  • Airflow valve is a small knobbed lever that you use to flip from open to close.
  • Top 2 pictures show fully open airflow for RDL
  • Bottom 2 pictures show fully closed airflow for loose MTL
  • For a more restricted airflow, covering the vent on the opposite side of the airflow control knob (bottom right picture) can help with this
**Type-C charging port location can be seen here as well**

A Closer Look at the Pod:

Vinci2pod.jpg
  • 4 magnets to securely hold the pod in. These are quite strong and you won't have to worry about the pod coming out unless you were to drop it from quite a height.
  • Refill slot is on the side with a rubber cap fancied with the VooPoo Logo.
  • Opening is about double the width of a Gorilla bottle nozzle - no problems getting it in or out or causing a mess.

The UI:

20210723_145238.jpg
  • Readouts from left to right and top to bottom: Mod, Battery level, Wattage, Vape Mode ([-S-]) for Smart, RBA will likely be a [P] and show up with a UI color change to blue instead of yellow), Puff counter (currently at 568 of 99,999), Resistance in ohms, Voltage (reads out when fired), Vape timer, Arching vape timer animation (arch meter fills at 5.5ish seconds), and Activation Mode ([AUTO] vs. [A&P] vs. [P]).
  • If you've own anything from the newer VooPoo PnP series of vape products, you'll recognize the User Interface. I have a Drag Mini that has a completely different digital output (it is 4 or 5 years old but still kicking), and I'm not sure at what model they switched to the new layout. I can confirm that the Drag X Plus is identical to the Vinci 2 layout, and that the Argus GT also uses a very similar colorful display output. A few Drag X Plus Pro's are on the way and I can only assume they will look the same as well.
20210808_144636.jpg

From left to right: Drag Mini, Argus GT, Drag X Plus, Vinci 2
  • The display on the Vinci has an auto-dimming feature at around 12 seconds, but offers the same bright display as the Argus GT and Drag X Plus when firing or adjusting.

The Cute ....-om:

20210723_150006.jpg
  • I thought this was a nice little add-on. No other VooPoo mod I own (or any mod that I own for that matter) has this little rubber gasket on the bottom that acts as a cushion. When setting it down, I don't hear the *clunk* like with other mods.
  • I do see this as being a possible hinderance in knocking the mod over more easily however, since the base of the mod is going to want to "stick" when accidentally hitting it, instead of the potential for it to just slide. Overall a nice thought. The mod is sealed up quite tight (no leaking thus far) and is quite light, so knocking it over isn't going to pop the pod out or cause much of an issue.

Observations/Impression of the VooPoo Vinci 2:

Coil/Vaping Style: I started vaping this with the 0.8 ohm coil in an MTL configuration since I've been trying to get myself to experience this type of vaping more recently. I'm a tester and love trying out and comparing new things. Being newer, I haven't quite figured out what I'm looking for, or I don't have a preconceived notion of a specific setting to start on like I would with a 0.1 ohm or 0.2 ohm coil on a regular mod. I tried settings from 8 watts to 18 (max wattage) and it wasn't cutting it. There was flavor, but it wasn't voluminous like I get with RDL/DL vapes. So, out with the 0.8 and in with 0.3 ohm coil.

The 0.3 ohm coil is a completely different experience. Night and day I'd say. However, I don't want to discourage loose MTL vapers from buying this product based on the 0.8 ohm coil, as there are settings I think you might find satisfying. For me, the 0.3 ohm coil works with the airflow control both fully closed, fully open, and everything in between. I have the mod sitting at 25 watts right now and the flavor is-a-plentiful. I am coming from a RDL/DL perspective though, so I can't say with certainty that an MTL'er will enjoy this. In defense of the Vinci 2, it does state that the 0.8 ohm coil is recommended for salt nic juices, and that I do not have. So take from that what you will. Product misuse!

Leakage (or lack thereof): I'm now at 582 puffs and I just popped the pod off to check for leaking. Nothing. There is faint airflow condensation where the air inlet to the coil sits, but there isn't any juice leakage which is what we should be worried about. I'm not even going to bother wiping it out because it's that minute. The coil seems to be seated in quite firmly. No leaking is yuge plus.

Puffs per battery cycle: I believe I've recharged this pod kit three times now. It arrived with a full battery, so I'm at about 4.2 battery cycles for 585 puffs. Calculating that out, that's roughly 139 puffs per battery cycle, given I did puff this for a while at settings other than 25 watts. 40w seemed to degrade the flavor a bit, and I don't see that much in loss, if any, of cloud chucking at 25 watts. It'll even cloud chuck at 15 or 20 watts, but again I notice a muted flavor. This is with the 0.3 ohm coil. With the 0.8 ohm coil vaping at around 10 watts, you can expect the puffs per battery cycle to probably double.

Recharge time: I'm not sure if it's stated anywhere how long it takes to recharge the battery, but I'd estimate it to be around an hour. Not bad for another 139 pufferonis.

Pros/Cons:

-Pros-

  • No leaking
  • Small/light weight; non-intrusive
  • Huge 6.5mL tank size for how small this is (that's how I like 'em :w00t:)
  • Vapes quite well for its wattage capabilities
  • Pod mod fires quickly which is consistent with other VooPoo mods
  • Offers a decent amount of features for a small pod kit
  • The [AUTO] puff is nice
  • Offers setups for both loose MTL and RDL vapers
  • Has an external airflow control, instead of being affixed to the bottom of the coil (first time seeing this on a pod kit)
  • Pod has a mouthpiece that's form-fitted for lips which is nice in creating a nice tight seal w/out having to make an "O" face
  • The buttons click nicely instead of being mushy
  • Recharges quickly
  • Fits nicely in hand
  • Pod is clear; juice level is clearly visible
  • Refills easily (disregarding the rubber plug - more in Cons)
  • Has the option for an RBA coil
  • Decent cloud production for those that want it
  • Rubber bumper on bottom
  • Price point is nice
-Cons-
  • It's a pod kit, most things regarding this product are proprietary
  • Battery readout is an active readout; when looking at the amount of battery left while it sits idle, it may appear that you have more battery left than you actually do
  • Airflow control doesn't have a tight MTL feel for those that might want that, it's quite loose - maybe an additional plug to seal off the vent opposite of the airflow control knob?
  • Rubber refill cap feels flimsy (or maybe too stretchy?) for how tight it fits into the refill hole - feels like I'm going to tear the flap off when pulling it out
  • Battery is 1500 mAh - a slightly larger capacity would have been nice.
  • Not a ghost vape - there will be no concealing the vape from this little puppy w/out some additional airflow sealing

The Finale:

With the compact size/weight of the pod kit, decently long battery life per cycle, quick recharge, large juice capacity, and overall pretty good performance, there isn't much to complain about here. I can't say I'm a fan of internal mods unless they can offer something special that I can't get with an external battery mod, but this little guy held its own pretty well. I could very easily see this as a quick grab-n-go on the way out the door to work or running errands. It's difficult to compare this pod kit with other pod kits in flavor production since I'm using different juice, but if you've used the VooPoo PnP coils in other products, you can expect the same performance in flavor and cloud production. I have other pod kits that may produce better flavor, but they leak. I can't reliably carry them around without ending up with an oily puddle at the bottom of one of my pockets. I also have other pod kits that have a 510 adapters and external batteries - I don't think it's fair to compare them with this kit either since this is pod only with an internal battery. Taking all things into consideration, this pod kit definitely has way more pros than cons.

-Overall Rating of the VooPoo Vinci 2-

9.0 vs. Other Pod Kits
7.0 vs. Other 510 Kits

I got the Aspire Favostix vape, but there's little to no throat hit.

The device goes up to 30 watts and I'm using the .6 coil with 9 mg of nicotine ejuice. Did I get the wrong type of coil? I don't know much about different coils, so I took my best guess, but I'm disappointed wit the lack of throat hit. If anyone can tell me what is going on, I'd rely appreciate it.

Am I overcharging my batteries?

I have 18650 batteries. My charger is a Nightcore Q2. Sometimes I put batteries in the charger for the day and forget (hey I'm 60) and they also sit overnight. The last time, they were in the charger for 24 hours. I'm sure it has some protection (reduces charging rate) but not sure it actually stops charging. It's a simple charger (no screen... just LED lights) so I can't check actual voltage. I also remember a video by Mooch saying it's better to only charge them to 80% (in fact, it also mentioned only letting them get down to 20%) Any thoughts on this?

GEEKVAPE OBELISK 200 KIT REVIEWED BY BIGBOB2322

Hello everyone and welcome back for today's review that comes to me from Geekvape and is on the latest in the OBELISK lineup of devices called the OBELISK 200. I was sent the sample version OBELISK 200 Kit that also includes the OBELISK 25mm 5.5ml Sub-Ohm Tank that has a childproof top cap lock design, the retail version will include a spare bubble tank that is not in the sample version. The OBELISK 200 mod tops out at 200 watts and is billed as being the smallest dual 18650 device made, I'll have to take Geekvape at their word because I can't verify that but I will tell you it is the smallest dual 18650 device that I have ever come across. The device is made from a single block of aluminum making it also a very lightweight device as well. Before the review lets check out all the bells and whistles of the OBELISK 200 Kit.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Opening of the sample version that I was sent revealed the usual packaging from Geekvape, a box inside a outer sleeve. Inside the box rests the OBELISK 200 device in it's foam cutout enclosure, underneath is a box containing your user manual, type-c charge cord, coil removal assist tool and your 2nd coil that is a Z-COIL 0.4Ω Mesh rated for 50-60 watts, the pre-installed Z-COIL is a 0.2Ω Mesh rated for 70-80 watts.

Along side the box containing the above mentioned items is the OBELISK 200 Sub-Ohm Tank resting in it's own cutout piece of foam block.

Attaching the tank for a quick look of how it matches up with the device and to take some photos I was very happy both matched up and complimented each other very well. Geekvape ships the OBELISK 200 device with 3 clear protective stickers that cover both light refracting sides and the display screen, Try to at least keep the side stickers on as long as you can, I'll explain why later on in the review.

20210808_054052.jpg

The OBELISK 200 Sub-Ohm Tank has a characteristic that puts child safety at the forefront by using a childproof top cap that must be lifted up and then slid outwards to reveal the fill port that is a membrane which acts like a one way valve and seals itself up after the bottle tip is removed, I'm beginning to see this type of fill method more and more from different vape manufactures. You have to lift up the top cap and look for a white dot that is not visible until the top cap is lifted and then push/slide outward at the white dot marking to reveal the fill port. If using large 100 ml bottles you will need to remove the drip tip when filling, you also might have to break the seal of the membrane by inserting a juice bottle tip ( I NEEDED TO ).

20210808_080829.jpg

The Z-COILS are a simple push and pull with 2 tabs that extend out and must be lined up with the 2 small indents of the tank on installation of the coil, remember to prime the coil with a few drops of juice prior to installing and after filling let the tank sit for 5 minutes to ensure the coil is well saturated with juice. The OBELISK 200 Tank is a thirsty one so keep a eye on your juice level and fill just as the cotton in the coil becomes exposed to air.

20210808_081804.jpg

The top plate of the OBELISK 200 device is screwed in using 3 screws and has a attractive brushed look to it. The OBELISK 200 Sub-Ohm Tank is a 25mm and fits the device perfectly, there is a little bump out at the 510 connection on both sides of the device that allow a 26mm atomizer to fit without overhang.

20210808_082740.jpg

Turning our attention to the bottom and the battery door or should I say cover that actually comes off to install both 18650 batteries, this is a first on a Geekvape device I believe. A arrow is located at one end showing you the direction to slide the battery cover off, there are ripples in the center of the cover aiding you. Push down when removing or installing the cover back in place on the device. Don't lose this cover or your SOL.

20210808_082845.jpg

Battery polarity is clearly marked inside both battery tubes as well as on the battery cover. There is also a magnet that helps keep everything in place, I have no rattle period within this whole device, the battery cover seems to be solidly connected and has not came off unintentionally in the many days of use. Another thing to mention is how snug the batteries are inside the tubes ensuring no battery rattle.

20210808_083948.jpg

20210808_083538.jpg

20210808_084242.jpg

Both sides have the Geekvape name stamped on them, on the right side of the device located at the bottom is the type-c charge port. I mentioned early on that the OBELISK 200 ships with 3 clear protective stickers, one on the display screen and 1 on each side of the refracting panels. You can see it in this photo, try to keep these side protective stickers on for as long as you can because the refracting panels are serious fingerprint magnets.

20210808_083326.jpg

Working our way to the colored front display that has the same one as the LEGEND 2 that I reviewed a short time ago. The display is vivid and bright also giving you 5 choices of a background color, your choices are blue, green, yellow, orange, and a color that I can't describe it's kind of a golden color to me. I normally have blue as a background color but changed it to match the color of my juice ( LOVE IT ).

SCREEN LAYOUT TOP TO BOTTOM

* Power Mode
* Dual Battery Bars
* Wattage / Temperature
* Ohms
* Amps
* Volts
* Puff And Time Puffed Counter

20210808_085004.jpg

The menu system in the OBELISK 200 is a very easy one to navigate as I said it's the same one used in the LEGEND 2.

MENU SYSTEM

* Five clicks of the fire button turn the device on/off

* Three clicks of the fire button to enter settings mode

* One click of the fire button in settings mode moves the cursor to select parameters

* Up and down to change parameters

* Long press the fire button to exit settings mode

* Up and down to change wattage or temperature

* Fire and down at the same time to decrease brightness

* Fire and up at the same time to increase brightness

* Three clicks of the fire button then hold both up and down to change color

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

I have to say that I have been waiting to review the OBELISK 200 since first hearing of it and I have to say I really love this kit as a whole. The OBELISK 200 Sub-Ohm Tank is a good sub-ohm tank with more than enough airflow for the air lovers and can be dialed down to a good RDL vape with no whistle or goofy sounds heard.

The Z-COILS give a great vape that has plenty of flavor and more than enough vapor, be careful using in a car, keep your windows down. The new child safe top cap is not bad to use but I wish a dot on the outside was possible to know where to lift and slide open but because the top cap spins it's not possible. ( understandable ).

The 810 drip tip is perfect for my taste and fits snug inside. I will say you will get a warmer vape from the 0.2Ω coil and that's my preference of the 2 supplied coils.

I am glad to see the one way filling membrane on the tank even though I have to remove the drip tip when filling with 100ml bottles ( no big problem ). This is a very thirsty one and a bit on the louder side also but within limits.

I also think the tank matches up well with the device, they do look like a matched pair. So in closing on the tank I have no real complaints to address.

Coming to the OBELISK 200 device my only real complaint is that it's a very bad fingerprint magnet that you will be constantly buffing out the prints.

I really like the appearance of the device as a whole and being made from aluminum keeps the weight to a minimum and being as small as it is makes it a take out device.

I'm not crazy happy about the battery cover coming completely off the device but understand that in order to make it as small as it is sacrifices had to be made and that was one of them. Just don't loose that cover !!!

I loved the display on the LEGEND 2 and I was thrilled to see it on the OBELISK 200. I have to say this is a fantastic device with just a couple of shortcomings and I suggest you folks pick one up for yourselves.

I would like to thank Allison and Geekvape for providing the OBELISK 200 Kit for the purpose of this review and I hope this review answered any questions you all might have had.

THANK YOU

Thank you New Hampshire

Living in Mass and have been getting juice by mail for years, then the ban, very lucky to have NH nearby.
Only problem is I had to change my vaping habits, never knew things had changed so much, nobody stocks higher PG than VG, in fact the stores don’t know what I’m talking about, was using a provari with a nautilus tank for years with higher PG, now had to go sub ohm with an Ageis with Ajax and Voppoo tanks to get some sort of hit, I also noticed many juices don’t even state the PG/VG on the bottle or should I say VG/PG as that switched as well.
Love the flavors now but miss the Provari, whole new learning experience for me.
Thank you New Hampshire or I would be screwed.

These were limited edition, the white engraving. Kimaster R by SVA, LE n4 electro DNA60 BF Mod

I paid €629 + shipping, which meant paying import charges and GST since it was over $1000 AUD. So it was around $1300 aud for the mod. The hypnotic battery tube was €70 and the SS battery cap was €20

I don't know what profiles or TC settings it has in the firmware. I use VW only

It is not getting the love it deserves

I am asking $700 Australian Dollars. Or $730 with Stumpy with the white tip. Of this, $500 is for me, and any additional is for 5 Freedoms Animal Rescue. Who got hit with and sustained substantial damage in recent storms Log into Facebook Anything above the asking price goes o them directly

This mod takes an Italian Supersoft, a dee mods silicone, or one chinese silicone bottle no longer in production. The surroundings around the bottle cap mean the cap needs to be thinner than 95% of the generic 17.5mm bottles

I have had spa treatment on this one time, when I tried ill fitting bottle. Modder cleared out liquid ingress and replaced the circuit board

I hope that covers everything. Feel free to ask questions

Problems with Innokin Endura M18

I bought two Innokin Endura M18's, and both seem to have problems.
The lights have gone out. There is no way to know the battery power, when they are fully charged, etc.

And now both of them don't seem to vape very well, like there is a air leak. I am using the Innokin M18 tank/coils with them.

Does anyone else use the and how has your experience been with them?

Uwell Aeglos P1 80W Pod Mod Kit 4ml - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at the Aeglos P1 Pod Mod Kit from Uwell. The Uwell Aeglos P1 Pod Mod Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Sourcemore.

Uwell Aeglos P1 Kit 80W Pod Mod Kit

yG4FGFX.jpg

Introduction

When Uwell released the original Crown sub-ohm Tank many considered it the tank to judge all others by but then they seemed to have a sketchy couple of years before the release of the Caliburn which once again saw Uwell much talked about but this time they followed the Caliburn with many well received products although I must admit I personally have not used many!

The Aeglos P1 Pod Mod combines a tubular form factor with classic C-frame allowing for a pull off spine for battery installation. It's a power only simple device which has 2 different lock features and smart coil recognition to restrict the power dependant on the coils resistance. With a type C USB connection, 2A charge rate and coming in 5 different colour options lets check out the Aeglos PI Pod Mod!

1* FeCrAI UN2 Meshed-H 0.6ohm Aeglos P1 Coil(RDL + MTL)
1* Pack of O-rings
1* User Manual

_________________________________________________________________________

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The Aeglos P1 came in cardboard box packaging with outer cardboard sleeve with a raised picture on the front and contents etc on the reverse. The device has that Drag X form factor but is combined with a C-frame allowing the Leather covered spine to be removed for battery installation. A combination of Zinc Alloy and Aluminium is used for it's construction and the colour choice refers to the colour of the Leather on the spine, I received the Olive Green, the options are Wine Red, Dark Blue, Olive Green, Reddish Brown or Saddle Tan.

The flattened face has a slightly protruding large square fire button top followed by a colour screen, underneath the screen we have a horizontal navigational rocker followed by a Type C USB port. Embossed onto one side of the Leather we have "AEGLOS" and on the opposite side "UWELL". The base is featureless then moving up top we have a cylindrical collar with airflow slot either side, this collar is the bay for the tinted pod with integrated mouthpiece to be installed.

The curved spine and compact size allows the device to feel great in the hand! Even when vigorously shaking the device we have no rattle whatsoever, it's a nice looking, well made device!

What You Receive?

Actually not a lot! The device comes with a pre-installed pod which in turn has a pre-installed 0.2ohm mesh coil installed and you also receive a 0.6ohm mesh coil. You then receive some spare O-rings for those coil heads and a manual and that's it! You don't even get a USB cable which fair enough most would probably already have a Type C to type 2 cable and also most would always charge externally but if you have a device with Type C connection and you are advertising 2A quick charging how about popping a cable inside the box!

cyVTHuy.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Pod

The Pod for the Aeglos P1 is rounded, tinted and one complete moulding including integrated mouthpiece. Most of the pod protrudes out of the device for good visibility of your juice so no issues there.

wA3xj6W.jpg

Looking at it's circular base we have 3 evenly placed strong magnets and a silicone flap with fill port bung which stays attached when lifted. When the Silicone is lifted a generous fill port is exposed so most nozzles can be used for a quick, mess free fill, the standard pod holds 4ml of juice while of course the TPD pod holds 2ml.

BHPB4KF.jpg

At the base of the pod we have two protruding sections facing each other which will allow for airflow adjustment when turned against the airflow slots on the collar of the device.

_________________________________________________________________________

Fitting The Pod

The Pod Bay looks quite different to other bays as it incorporates part of the condensation recycling system which Uwell have used for a while. We have an upper metallic shelf for the pod magnets to attract to and then the protruding sides of the pod slip down the outside of this shelf to line up on the same level as the airflow slots. We have that central condensation system fixed to the positive plate and to one side the raised negative.

The pod snaps into place and fits very securely, the design means the pod can be fitted without it needing to be lined up a certain way apart from making sure the protruding sections slot down into position, good design!

swqmKpR.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Coils

With the Aeglos P1 we see the introduction of 2 new Aeglos coil heads which are the 0.2ohm mesh coil head rated between 45w to 52w and the 0.6ohm mesh coil head rated between 23w to 27w. The Aeglos P1 is also compatible with the previous Aeglos coil heads which are the 0.23ohm meshed coil head and the 0.8ohm coil head!

nYsIpv5.jpg

The base of the coil heads like the pod connection inside the device look a little different due to the Uwell condensation recycling system called the "Pro-FOCS flavour technology"!

bVtJc4G.jpg

The coil heads like so many of these pod mod coils just get press fitted into place!

r1FZApB.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Airflow

I have used a couple of Pod Mods which give as good adjustability as the Aeglos P1 but they have been designs with an airflow ring fitted on the base of the coil head which means the pod needs removing from the device to adjust which can be inconvenient, instead the Aeglos P1 uses the same design as on the Voocean 80 from Oumier.

We have seen adjustable airflow attempted on a few pod mods without needing to remove the pod with the benchmark being the Drag X but the design on the Aeglos P1 works so much better, it works no different to dual adjustable bottom cyclops on a standard tank with the only difference being the outside slots remain stationary and it's the pod itself that gets turned.

We have an airflow slot either side and then the protruding sections either side on the pod which are the same size as the slots. When the protruding sections are lined up with the slots airflow is fully closed and when the protruding sections are turned to allow the slots to be fully open we have full airflow. What Uwell have done so well is how the pod fits so securely yet can be turned with a perfect tolerance to adjust airflow.

FZOQgjt.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The 510 Adaptor

Not included but available as a separate purchase there is a 510 adaptor! Personally due to not being able to turn off the coil recognition feature it wouldn't interest me but who knows if there will be a future software upgrade that allows standard variable wattage with no upper limits right up to 80w! Also the high protruding collar on the device with a standard atomiser fitted would look quite funky!

cQABBOk.png

_________________________________________________________________________

Fitting The Battery

The Aeglos P1 has a C-frame with pull off spine for battery installation and the first thing I like is beneath the Leather covering the main material of the spine is metal not sure on the device which parts are Zinc Alloy and which are Aluminium as the device to me looks to be made from the same metal.

We have an hidden magnet towards the top but to be honest the precision fit is that snug I really don't think it needs it as this spine is going nowhere and takes quite a tug to pull free. The device accommodates a single 18650 battery and once fitted we have no rattle or movement whatsoever!

1BIudAT.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

The Display

I like the display on the Aeglos P1, it's very well laid out with everything easy to read and it's bright, sharp and colourful!

Top left we have the mode which is power as this is the only mode available, top right we have an horizontally positioned battery status bar. Below we have the wattage and then underneath a four digit puff counter. Moving to the bottom half of the display we first have Voltage followed by the Resistance and finally at the bottom vape duration.

dQOo9Xf.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Operating The Device

The Aeglos P1 is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on fire and left together locks the whole device while fire and right together locks just the navigational rocker. Pressing both sides of the navigational rocker at the same time resets the puff count and both sides of the rocker and fire together resets to factory settings, that's it!

yQJMMsk.png

The device has a top wattage of 80w but it has smart coil recognition so limits the wattage dependant on the resistance so with the 0.6ohm coil installed it adjusts in 1w increments from 5w to 30w and then round robins back to 5w. When the 0.2ohm coil is installed it adjusts from 5w to 80w in 1w increments and again round robins.

PLXtIpf.jpg

_________________________________________________________________________

Charging

Of course most would charge their battery in an external charger but if you do need to charge in the device we have a Type C USB connection and it's claimed a 2A charge rate. Unfortunately if you do need to charge in the device or update the device in the future no cable is included which i get on one level but still has to be a con!

Starting with the pod I always find it a con when the drip tip can't be removed so alternative drip tips can be used, after saying that the moulded mouthpiece on the included pod is a little narrower than with most of these round pods and quite comfortable. Again i don't care much for bottom fill so needing to be removed from the device to fill but it's usually the case with this style of pod and on the upside it can be filled quickly and mess free!

Some people who already have a collection of Type C to type 2 USB cables will probably not care less that no cable is included but i think it's very poor, after all this could be someone's first type C device, just unnecessary penny pinching! I usually like coil recognition on devices sometimes called smart wattage but only if there is an option to also run in standard variable wattage plus the coil recognition on the Aeglos P1 seems sketchy as the point of it is so you can't run the wattage too high for the coil being used, when using the 0.6ohm coil it only allows the wattage to adjust up to 30w which is fair enough but then the 0.2ohm coil which is rated between 45w to 52w allows it to adjust right up to the full 80w, not being able to turn the coil recognition off would also put me off getting the available 510 adaptor!

Apart from the Caliburn i haven't used any pods or tanks from Uwell so didn't realise how good their sub-ohm coils are, flavour is right up there with Freemax and Horizontech coils and longevity is above average also. The 0.2ohm coil is suited to fully open airflow as that great flavour can suffer when adding some restriction, it's a medium RDL draw, i found this best at 45w. The 0.6ohm is just slightly down on flavour fully open but this coil likes restriction so closing the airflow down to about a quarter open i found made this coil shine for a very restricted RDL draw, i found this best at 20w which is lower than it's rating, for those interested if a MTL is possible then a very loose at best but not for me! One thing to point out is the airflow isn't turbulent but is quite loud especially with the 0.2ohm coil head!

It's also the first time i have come across Uwell's condensation recycling system that's seen with these coils and it was refreshing to not worry about a full pod of liquid being left overnight as I suffered no leaking or condensation either when left unattended or in use! The fire button is nice and clicky with a short travel and the device fires without delay, during testing I had no issues with performance!

The final con I have is I did charge a battery in the device to check things like pass-through vaping which it does support but noticed the charge rate was not even close to 2A I would estimate 1.5A max! Finally the simplicity of the devices operation will be liked by many along with it's ergonomic shape and size!
