On my first build the flavor and vapor was great. But after the second refill flavor is not there, plenty of vapor (just no taste).

That is very strange... Take the tank off and check your wick???
After a re-fill I always hold mine to the side, slightly inverted so the air in the top travels to the bottom, than open the JFC half turn or so and finish adjusting upright as normal.
Not sure if it does anything, but always hear a little noise when first opened, so figured can't hurt and it doesn't leak.
I always saturate the coils and do a pre-burn couple of times before I put the tank on.

I take the smooth strips off each side.

I notice the coil is in there at an angle.Any reason for that?Just curious because I always run mine perpendicular so the wick sits even in the cup.Great shots I will take pics of my build. I am certainly glad I grabbed this SXK version before they ruined it.lol I have had zero issues so far with it.Almost through 32ml. This is a tootle puffer on steroids.
She has less waste of wire between the coil and screws having no waste of power to the coil that way. Really doesn't amount to much waste but I've seen a lot of builds like this over the years.

He is right on the money - comes from old habits from my dripper dayz. Close legs to the pos/neg = less issues with resistance I have found. I normally keep my same coil in for months and rewicking can take its toll on the legs of the coil tugging and pulling. I don't know if it makes as difference or not but makes me feel better
It looks like a lot but see where the bulk of the cotton is? Right by the coil. This is what I have found to be the best for my looooong MTL hit. I need juice saturated at the coil and less cotton on the ends of my tails makes the juice travel up to the coil wicking and rest there.
If you want to see how well your wick is wicking - drop juice in the channel and let it soak up to your coil. This I have used to make sure I have enough/or too much cotton making the flow of the liquid choke. This is how I came to start thinning out the tails. Made sense in my brain LOL
Just did a 2nd build, and still not getting the flavor. 28g, 2mm, 9 wraps (lost count- new to coil master), 1.5 ohms. Here are some pics (sorry- I still haven't learned how to do macros!):

I'm done with this- at least for today. Just did a 3rd build, shorter coil, 1.4 ohms, still not getting good flavor. It's not "bad", it's just not there. I get wonderful flavor from my KFLs, but this thing just isn't doing it. Still getting some leaking from air holes after a fill. Would never take this thing outside the house! Thus far, very disappointing.
I use 2.5mm id coils on my 2 with 30g kanthal evenly wrapped 7/8 times wicked with Japanese cotton pads. My liquids are 100% PG which are pretty thin also. As far as your leaking from the air holes, try changing the 2 o-rings on the base. I think maybe they are at fault there.
I'm in the exact same boat: Love my KFLs- great flavor! I just did my 3rd build on this thing, and, like you, it's no comparison- very low flavor. Please post if you find build that works well for you!
