Katya.. you need to grab the tube at the base.. and grab the adaptor and twist.. use pliers.. just be careful though as not to crush anything :D

OK, I did. Piece of cake if the adapter is attached to a battery (kr808 in my case). I separated the two successfully and attempted a gentle dry burn. Guess what? I burned the wick inside the coil and the thing was ruined. Joytech doesn't use the same wick as the Royal Smokers does. :p The atty part in those cartos is flimsy and clearly meant to be disposable. It was not designed to be dry burned. Maybe soaking the atty in Everclear or some other cleaner would work, but I really don't want to do any of this. If I'm going to go to all the trouble of atty maintenance, Id' rather use the eGo atty and cart. They are big, hold twice the amount of eliquid and refilling and cleaning are a breeze.

Having said that, I really like those Gen Joye cartos. They taste great and vape great, but they don't last and are a major pain to refill. Once you get that funky taste, it's over. The coil is all gunk and the bad taste just keeps getting worse. For some strange reason, they go funky much faster than my other 510 cartos--Tru-Vapor, Boge, Bauway, SLB. Go figure.

The funny thing I noticed while doing my dry burn was that the strands of the filler attached to the coil didn't burn; it was the wick that got all charred. Maybe Janty should form a joint venture with Royal Smokers? We're clearly on to something, but we're not there yet.

What's stopping you?

How is that?

That is lovely, thank you, LGD! Over 100,000 views! Must be the new title! ;) [This winky should be blue, you know ]

but what about the blue winky, lgd [...blue winky.....]:p

Tib, we mustn't whine, lest we never get our winkies. We're on LGD's list! ;)

Well I have only done a couple of dry burns.. and didn't have ill effects, but I honestly didn't do a true "atty like" dry burn because it didn't really need it.... I guess I should have tried it harder... But in retrospect .. one can't dry burn traditional filler type cartos

yes the GenJoye wicks do seem a bit "weak" they are not long lasting , but I still feel the vape is great all the way through.. first>last

Someone will get there... and my likings would be something with the element below the filler... of course built stronger... and easy to access for element maintenance

You mean where the skirt meets the metal base? one or two of the 3 I've bought so far did. But I attributed that to the hack job I did with a dremel to remove the skirt. (it was after bowling/drinking) I kind of cut too far up and sort of whacked into the metal and everything ... doh. But what I did to fix it (maybe) was paint the seam/whacked area with some high temp liquid electrical insulator. Seems to have done the trick. I ordered a bunch more so we'll see. haha, I'm actually going to measure this time and use a small pipe cutter to remove the skirt. Should look just like downtown.

I agree. We'll get there. I'm also waiting for the latest revision of the E2 cartos. Right now, the Gen Joye cartomizers are on top of my list for taste and vapor, if not for user friendliness.

I had no luck with the eGo (mega) cartomizers. They tasted bad almost from the start. Considering the price, I gave up on them. I had no leaking issues, not from the seam, only from the bottom hole when overfilled, but Zelda had some serious problems with them:

BTW, is my post now a permanent part of your signature? If so, I'm thrilled. :p

Why, thank you. I'm proud of myself, actually. I'll try a soak in isopropyl alcohol next.

As for the video, don't hold your breath, dear. Have you seen the thread titled: Why Aren't There More Women Doing Video Reviews? (or something to that effect?) ;) I think Angus moved it to Outside before closing it...

Katya,

Good info.

Thank you.

The quote is from that show.... but you're response was still right on. Everyone lies in midterms :)

... I'll be trying them on Big Brother - if interested:

Hey Kent i hope you've tried the XL 510 version 2 to compare to these version 3. I'd love to know what you think of this new version compared to the previous one. I do like the version 2 so far.

I know :)

I know. I saw the trailer :) Hence my response. I know :)

I tried version 2, regular 510. I'm waiting for V4 :) Keep us posted. Are you going to try them on the eGo or are you going straight for the Wetbox/Big Brother?

I read your review last night. I have been thinking about getting the Little Sister for quite some time, I love the size, but my battery guru doesn't like the 10440s. So now I'm looking at the Big Brother... But that's a box; I was hoping to avoid getting a box. If I have to get a big battery, honestly, I'd rather get one that's shaped like the Buzz. Wouldn't that fit better in one's hand? I know you're used to boxes because you have a Bartleby, but I somehow can't imagine myself vaping a box.

zelda,

I only have the non-XL V2 and now XL V3. I have the non-XL on the Wetbox - same one for weeks now and it is performing fine. I do a dry burn about every 2 or 3 days - I just don't 'squeeze' and vape out most of it first. Works really well and frankly, unless I blow out the coil, I don't see changing it out. It's like an atty.

The V3 - first, even though I read about the primer, I disregarded it - the primer these days isn't half as bad as it used to be and while I still blow an atty out first, I'll just vape through any residue. Well, that was a mistake on the V3. And of course I filled it up with some good DV juice but I'm just now getting past the primer taste which is on the order of WD40. :) So .... highly suggest, rinsing out first - head slap - should have known, etc. lol.

However, it is now vaping well - no leaks, btw, which I've read has been a problem with some. It is 'XL' so with the longer delrin drip tips that I like, quite long from the connection on Big Brother. And it is nice to dial in for flavor on that - in fact, I 'pumped up the volume' @5.5Volts to help burn off the primer then backed down to between 4 and 4.5v for vaping.

That said, I really haven't had any problems with the V2's and might hunt around to see if anyone has any left! I still prefer the eGo attys/carts and the V2 is a great fit for the Wetbox - not needing the length of the XL there because of the internal bottle.

If I run into anything on the V3 I'll report it....

I really do understand that. Personal preference, ergonomics, looks....and while I like the 2AA box the 3AA box (5v Bart) is a tad big. I can cover the box with my hand and it ends up being more 'stealthy' than even the small protege. My idea mod would be a Janty Stick V3 with a 14500 batt and variable - it also has the usb charger built in like the Bartleby. :)

I put the XL on the Big Brother. And I had the same 'batt considerations' on the lil' sis. And as doots mentioned, I think, it didn't last that long and that's the 10440's for you. The Buzz might be for you. The BB, btw, lasted a long day before changing out batts, this morning. As above, XL not needed on the wetbox and frankly, that's working so well I don't want to change anything except batteries :)

a few quotes...
---
Dr. Milton: How bad is the insomnia? Let me quantify that, do you drink two or three Scotches before passing out in front of the TV?
House: You are so far off. It's bourbon!

House: You're asking me to condone a relationship based on lies and mistrust.
Dr. Wilson: Yeah.
House: When and where?

one for Scott:
[two cute twins argue a diagnosis]
House: Stop it! This argument is distracting every male and lesbian here.

@Cori

It's entirely possible it's 'not harmful,' or maybe is the equivalent of smoking an analog's part of the rolling paper (hopefully without the glue?). It would be nice to locate the original manufacturer on these, send some pics and questions along, or failing that, if one of the vendors of the 2 piece units would push this from their side..

Even if its not harmfull it changes the whole concept that e cigs are a safe alternative. Ecigs are supposed to be water vapor not real smoke.

Hey Kent. Thanks. I really like the v2 Xl 510s - the regular ones not so much. I'm getting some version 3.5 XL 510s in a few days. Curious to see what the difference will be.

I did have some leaking with the v2s but I'm impressed so far. And they do last longer than most cartomizers.
