Well are you talking about the new GenJoye cartos or are they still lost? Well speaking about the GenJoye carto... I have a special surprise coming later on.... a preview of a project with them ;) it is pretty sweet... so keep an eye out

... I know I am such a tease :D

You've been teasing us all day. I've been following your thread... I hope your project doesn't involve trying to remove the atomizer with a pair of pliers and an adapter. I almost broke my arm. Not everybody here is a big burly man, keep that in mind, will you? :D And bring back my green grinning smiley!!!!

You're a doll. I'm just getting ready; I was in the garage smashing my first Joytech carto to pieces with a big hammer. :p

BRB with full report.
i was surprised you went for the joye cartos. too inconvenient for you.
I bought three ego cartos to test last month. Used one and actually liked it (great TH) but just couldn't see myself dealing with needles on a daily basis.

I bought three ego cartos to test last month. Used one and actually liked it (great TH) but just couldn't see myself dealing with needles on a daily basis.

I'll try anything, well, almost anything, one time. I spent one day with a Joyetech cartomizer and I have mixed feelings about it. It was very nice out of the box, clean, crisp taste, nice vapor. A refill wasn't too bad, I have some prior experience with the Mega eGo cartos so I knew what I was doing. I used both a syringe with an 18 g needle and an oiler bottle, both work. The problem with the oiler bottle is that I don't know how much eliquid actually goes in, so that was a bit confusing. I threw out that inner cap--I'm not sure why it's there. Refilling is easier without it--I can stick my needle into the fill chamber without removing the end cap (thank you, Kent, for the tip.) Unfortunately, after a couple of refills, I started getting this dreaded off taste--plastic, chemical, burning, whatever. So I took my hammer to it and sure enough, even though the filler was clean, the coil was a gunky, burnt, smelly mess. I'm not sure what the source of that burnt taste was, but I found threads of the filler stuck to the coil. I have a feeling that when one sticks the needle several times into that polyfill, some of it is being forced down and into the coil, which cannot be a good thing.

My impression is that this is not an improved cartomizer but, rather, an atomizer and a cartridge combo made worse. I have a Mega eGo atomizer and a cartridge; they don't work out of the box, they need a bit of modding because they leak (well, mine did). But I had some blue foam squares and made a simple spring mode and that took care of the leaking problem. The filling was easy; I put 40 drops into the cartridge, added a piece of blue foam and I vaped for hours (thank you, Kent, for the tip). Cleaning is easy, I have access to all the parts of my atty-cart combo, I can remove the filler and rinse it clean, I can soak or dry burn the coil, and I don't need a syringe to refill. So, I think I'll be using this for special occasions, but I'll stay with cartos for everyday, on the go, carefree vaping. Tru-Vapor, Bauway and Boge are my current favorites. I had no luck with LR cartos--they run too hot for my taste and I burned a few, so I gave up on them, but I know that many of you use them successfully. It's just a matter of personal preferences; I like cooler vapes.

Besides, I can't imagine myself going to a meeting or dinner with a syringe and a gram scale in my purse. Or have those things in my car and try to refill at a red light, or in a traffic jam somewhere on the 405...;) [LGD, I want that blue winking guy back, too.] Not even in our laid back SoCal...

i think that just goes to show, 1 is never enough to form a good opinion. that or, QC sucks!

QC is not their forte...

speaking of... I spoke to Ross last night. He said he had just gotten off skype with the suppliers and they were looking into reverting back to the old filler. Ross doesn't seem pleased. Regardless, I bought more ;)

I'm going to buy more also, hopefully they go back to the old filler. But even with the new filler, the ones that aren't overstuffeed are really good.

I just got a bunch of new eGo stuff about an hour and a half ago (Thanks Loxmythe!). first thing i noticed, was the button sucks. probably gonna order rivas from now on. anyway.... had 2 new cartos. the first one took approx 1.8ml before flooding. gross chemical taste. carto #2 same story on 1.8ml. no chemical taste. but only been using it about 30-45min so im not gonna say much else about it. just waiting, less than patiently, for my T.V.'s to come in! ( nooo, not televisions. )

T.V.?

I'm pretty much over the 808d-1 though. I prefer the durability of the 510 batteries. and the variety of affordable cartomizers. i am planning to switch to SmokeStik to satisfy my Auto battery needs, pending the PitBull Beta test. (won't be long now!!! :D [he's still yellow huh?])

Ditto.

Still yellow and ugly. Who's in charge of the smileys around here?

but it tastes more like an atomizer than a carto. give that a + or - as you see fit. oh, and this button sucks. ;)

Might as well just get an eGo atty. :p And yes, the button is nasty. Rivas' buttons are so nice and soft to the touch...

Ah, Ross at Vapors Etc. sells Rivas a la carte. I have one of his and it's working great. So does Travis at Vapor Junction, but his shipping is 7 bucks. Ross ships first class.

Got my 3 eGo? ginormous, whatever they're called Joye 510 cartomizers from Cignot last night. Exactly the same needle config for filling, Cigar tipped -- very nice. Also got a couple of delrin drip tips for the smaller Joye 510 cartomizers (just don't like the smooth straight tube thing so much. Delrin drip tip will be better). Haven't tried them to see if they fit yet. Looks like it though.

These eGo things are outstanding! Wonder how the reviewers are going to describe them since they've used up all their superlatives already :). It was after bowling (drinking is involved) and I used a dremel cutoff wheel to remove the skirt so I can use them on my mods. ...bit of a hack job there, lol.

Oh, my lovable and squeezable Ducky! How can I go to step 2 when I can't complete step 1? I can't separate the two, I tried last night and I was sober. Another video? I have my adapter and my pliers, no go. Now what?

But maybe I could do it with my eGo Mega atty/cart? Would be a nice mod. Any thoughts?

As long as your fingers are intact...

My VaporsEtc order is lost somewhere too. :( Last seen...Rochester, NY. If seen, please kick it my way. In the meantime, I'll keep using the adapters but I'm anxious to see how well I like the Tru's.

Ask Vinny! Good luck with your Tru-Vapors. And remember, they take a lot of eliquid, so fill them up and let them sit for a while. If you underfill and/or start vaping too soon, they'll burn. Just my :2c:

That's a significant vid, imo. Nice work! And people can see why you can't use the joye carto on the wetbox ;-) I was seeing two turns through the epoxy to the coil - there's a 'tier' on the one side. But I didn't push through like you have - different purposes. Anyway thanks! I see madvapes has some nichrome 60 wire, and I've seen a 36 reference - is there any consensus in the atty mod forum on what to use? Still have to do more research there for getting to a specific ohm rating too. Have you looked into that?

Katya,

That's exactly where my attention went for this procedure. No need to mess with the filler just make the atty coil replaceable, and let the gov't do what they want :) I think the innards are a bit different though....

Here are some rough numbers for you to ponder. When talking about Nichrome 60 (NiCr60), you get about 17Ω per foot when dealing with 34ga and about 70Ω per foot when dealing with 40ga. With 36ga it is about 27Ω per foot.

Ok so the stuff at madvapes is 36ga from the description of the Ω/ft. Although I don't know enough of how that would translate into making a coil for an atty, but I'm figuring they're going for the 510 atty version ;-) ... this isn't the forum for that.... but Thanks! it helps that part of the puzzle.

TruVapors', Silly.

And i tried a couple ego atties. barrel style. pretty much, its a big fat atomizer. i switched to cartomizers, cuz i dont like atomizers. i dont care how big it is.

and youre right (i think it was you that said that), the joye (ego/510) cartos are just atomizer/cartridge combos. they just removed the bridge, and fused the 2 together.

i also have pics of the bauway carto on the way. neat design. i'll probably order some of my own.
