What mods have you guys been using? I know a lot of users have reported their Opus 200 having the same issues. We're you using those or some other mod? Only curious because I got a militiamods dna 200 on the way and wanna see if there's any reported issues with it.
Mine was a DIY job.

somehow the fuse blew though I don't know why since that fuse is meant to protect the chip from reverse polarity(which definitely didn't happen) or serious battery failure which I doubt. Nothing was touching the battery leads. same for pretty much any lead. Still blew.

the worst thing is that the fuse I need is either shipping from the US so costs about 30 bucks to get ONE fuse. one place sells by 10 but only ships to the UK. all the other places won't ship untill a minimum of 100/1000.

Guess il have to suck it up and do that frankenstein john from evolv mentioned which is essentially taking one of those mini car fuses and soldering it with lead onto the board.

Any Hana V200 owners having issues with the enclosure screws? I was just vaping on the V200 this morning and flipped it around to find that the top two screws have disappeared. :) I'm not sure when that happened as this mod has never left the house. Has anyone else had this issue? Hana is sending out new enclosure screws, so not that big of a deal, but shocked me this morning to see 2 screws gone.

Ron
Screws are all intact. My screen just went out though. Looks like a software glitch though. It comes back when I reboot it via Escribe but goes dark as soon as I fire, like being in stealth mode but can't get out of it.

KTMRider,

I can't really tell from the photos, does this have a recess on the top for atomizers like other Hana Modz?
Give me a few mins, I'll post a pic of it.

Could also use a micro dean.....good size for a mod like this. It's what is used in the variant.... And they have held up well to the amp draw
Micro Deans is rated at 10a (15a tops). I just installed my XT30 connectors and they're pretty sweet. 30a rating and really easy to plug/unplug. I need to order a few dozen more for everything . No, seriously... I need to order about 20 pr more. They're really that good.

Wel il be out of a DNA 200 for a while. fuse somehow blew. so now I need to find that fuse online somewhere and then hope I can resolder the new one.

Hell I can't even get the old one off :(
Send it into Evolv, they'll take care of you. Int'l shipping sucks but talk to them to see what they can do for you.

I have been talking to john on the evolv forum. Seems like I will just have to cope. He helped me alot in terms of finding the issue. That is what sucks about being european. We can't just send a chip to evolv. The cost of shipping to the US can easily be 35-40 bucks for a one way ticket. double that maybe to have it shipped back with maybe repair costs. Bam I might as well buy a brand new chip.

I am just sitting here holding my head thinking about HOW I blew up that fuse.

It was the tiny little metal spider that did it. It crawled in your mod and shorted your battery. It happens quite often.

What amp rating fuse do you need?

Edit: I just checked, 25 amps

I sent my dna 40 for rma a few weeks ago. International registered shipping was like 30 bucks so I thought, screw it. I sent it back as international simple airmail... 1.90€

I did this because I wasn't going to pay almost the same price for shipping as a new dna would cost. If it would go missing, well, it only cost two bucks to ship and it was shot. I decided to risk it.

It arrived at Evolv two weeks later, was repaired /replaced and sent back. It's now somewhere over the Atlantic.

Regards
Tony

Sent from my keyboard through my phone or something like that.

This is how false rumours start, John said today:
Off the top of my head, think there are about 350 Opuses out right now, so the mortality rate is still in the single digit percent. Still very concerning. Replacing the fuse isn't hard once the board is out of the case, though.

You'd have to discuss that with Opus, though, I can't make them do or not do things.

All right, this is it. I think I can't hold it back any more.
The master plan is:
Board from Evolv directly
Evolv DNA200 (90x36x23 Battery) enclosure from slutlab @ shapeways (a mutant reference box/Hana case incarnation with deeper battery compartment if I get it right)
Turnigy nano-tech 1500mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack for reasonable battery life (16.65Wh nominal)
Turnigy 16AWG Silicon for battery with Male XT60 connector for input
Turnigy 14AWG Silicon for output
Varitube (most likely)
Heat shrinks, screws etc
Any thoughts?
Or any ETA/battery option details on Boxer DNA 200 perhaps? I would rather have the Boxer just loosing patience..

GV has the DNA200 Boxer up for preorder right now. I was told it would be mid-late August when they start shipping. Oh, and it has a 1000mAh 3S 25C Zippy lipo.

Also, the battery will be removable, but I forgot to ask what connectors they'll be using. If they're not XT30's, I may be replacing them.

Thanks for that.
Now I just need to figure out to wait for the boxer a month or build the slutlab or both:)
Especially that this Alumylon option sounds pretty interesting but would like to see it on pictures first.
Anyway, gonna keep me busy thinking during the weekend:)

XT30 connector in my BRD200. I know some are new to soldering so I tried to take some pics of the solder. I tinned both connector and wire.

After the drama with GV, I don't think I'll have a Boxer DNA unless it's sold somewhere else or available on one of the 3d print shops. Too bad because the mod is pretty nice. Just not with a SX350j.

Yeah, I hated to see that whole situation unfold... and I was a YT subscriber of his from a month or so ago. After reading both sides of the story and giving it some thought, I came to the decision that I liked the design enough not to let that keep me from owning the DNA200 version.

So I have decided to just chip my chip to evolv. I can send the box it came in with a enveloppe which is pretty cheap. No idea what type of shipping they use to return it though.

John said the repair is free and so is return shipping.

Wow I am seriously impressed by the customer service of evolv. Jesus christ. free repair for a screwup I most likely did? Free shipping to boot.

John sent me a replacement DNA200 board overnight because mine had a resistor that was knocked off (not sure if I did it or not). He didn't ask for proof of purchase or anything, just my address. He sent a return label so no out of pocket shipping either way for me.

I knew they would take care of you :thumb:

Following the Early Adaptors Forum I have been astounded how generous their customer service is, I expected it to be very good but they just swap boards for people when everyone else would be claiming user error.

I wanna say it's because the DNA200 is still in "early release" but that's how they've handled issues before so I tend to think they're just an awesome company that really support the enthusiast community.

This +1
People crying out loud (not many but a couple) about evolv, on other forums to. I said exactly what you just said a week ago or so on ukv.
They even reparing or completly swapping boards from obvious user end F* ups, wich other company does that these days, exactly 0.
This is the good stuff about being able to monitor and record the board, because i bet they did get alot of slack on the dna40 to for some cases they didnt deserve it as alot (not all, im not dumb) was user error IMHO.

On a sidenote

I cant make my mind up on wat mod to go for next. I wish evolv would just release some ready made boxes already with couple battery options, alto they must be very bussy atm to care about making/asembling mods themself lol. That militia mod seems properly made inside and has a nice battery, wish someone in the UK or EU would make something like that. Realy need a second one to have in rotation with my opus (if some decent modmaker/DIY'r from the EU feels like it dont hold back to shoot me a PM :p )
