8 wrap on 1.2mm ID NI200
0.5mm X 0.1mm NI200 ribbon annealed then twisted till "folded" then 3 of those strands twisted together in the opposite direction till interlocked.
(MM style)
0.07 ohms
RM2 on a GDibi DNA40
Very nice vape.
Next time I will try a larger diameter to get the resistance up into a little more optimum range.

Anyone got ideas on how could i get the derringer clone with philips head screws to work with temp control? Neg posts are fine but center one stays a bit loose how ever tight i try to screw it. Would it work to feed the ni200 around the screws kayfun style or not?

Stick a little piece of Kanthal in that post hole with the Ni200 leg.

Thought I'd share one I just built and am enjoying. It's a Veritas knockoff, 28 gauge Ni200 wrapped on a 3.43mm mandrel. It's the first time I've had my dna 40 at 40 watts and temp's at 460F on the .13 ohm coil.
I thought I was going to have problems building in the Veritas with Ni200 but this was my first effort. It's actually heating up the RDA pretty warm and producing extremely well.

    It sure does!

Awesome, but how does it work? :) What wire gauges you used and what ohm you got in the end?

The main thing I'm wondering about is the outer wraps shorting. But from what I understand the inner wire is the one with lower resistance and carrying the load anyway. So normally the outer wire only reduces the resistance a tiny little bit but it might be different with nickel because it doesn't have an insulating oxide layer. Expanding with heat you could change (lower) the resistance when firing which could mess up temperature protection.

It might be better to use thick nickel wire (28 awg?) as the core for temperature measuring and really thin kanthal (36 awg?) as the outside. That way the outer wrapping should have minimal impact on the electrical properties. Afaik the outside is really only used as a heat sink and to increase the surface area drastically.

I'm only speculating here! I never build a claption coil. I only watched twisted messes fused claption coil tutorial and rip trippers claption coil video.

Sure thing! 30ga outside with 28 up the middle. I have a unique way of wrapping the outside, it makes it insanely tight and almost impoosible to thread through the 28ga. I have yet to see a short, still works as well as it did when I first made it. It reads out to ~.26Ω. I havent had any problems with the Hana Modz 40 I've been using from a friend. I will be trying it on my VaporFlask when it gets here either today or tomorrow.

So I said a few pages back I have been hunting for a good RDA for nickle, I have to say, this Holmes V2 is fantastic. The airflow is great, I am using the smallest setting and it is still airier than the Magma. Holds a ton of juice (by dripper standards), my 28g 12 wrap fits perfectly into the post holes, didn't need to file down the screws, but I also put 28g kanthal through the holes with the nickel. Anyone looking for a good 2 post RDA that is really easy on the vape funds, give this one a shot.

Randy, Please do me a favor. Set the Holmes V2 for max air flow, block one of the air holes, and compare to a Magma both holes wide open.

I don't have my Magma any longer to make the comparison, but the Holmes V2 has 4 holes that feed the 2 inner airflow tubes. So when I say I am using the smallest setting, I am using 4 - 1.5mm holes. There are 3 more airflow options that I'm guess go up in increments of .5mm, but you will always be using 4 holes on whatever setting you choose. When I had my Magma I used it with the airflow ring off and it was still tighter that the Holmes V2 using the 1.5mm holes. If someone wanted to tighten the Holmes up the best way would probably be to block one of the inner tubes and run it single coil.

Just FYI the Holmes V3 is going to come out in a while.

I will be keeping an eye out for that.
