So I got my hands on this setup and I have to say you get a lot for the price this is going for. I don't know if the tank (Melo 2) will be sold with it forever, but for a beginner this is a nice one stop shop box. You get a mod and a tank (with extra Blue and Red seals) and charging cable for the price of a single tank from some popular vendors.
I think back to paying $40 for a KBOX early in the year and thinking "WHAT A DEAL!" that was and to now hold this TC60 in my hand as a 60 watt device with TC NI TI at the same price range just blows my mind. This could/would be for me an excellent light weight pocket device at work. I know this segment of the industry is competitive, but I cannot think that anything is missing other than including a skin or 18650 in the box.
Back to the setup, probably the favorite for me on this tank since I am not usually a "tootle puffer" haha, (yeah I know 60 watts is the top end of tootle puffing) was this well executed side fill design on the 4.5ML Melo 2. Super easy to use and large enough to accept larger droppers. Probably the only thing I "could" see happening is someone trying to bottom fill and getting a hand full of liquid (don't do that). It worked flawless for me and it makes me wonder why some of the "big dawg manufactures" have not tried this because we have had some really problematic top fills and this seems like a good "meet me in the middle" approach. I had no leaking or mess and clouds were excellent given the device's power.
I pushed the EC style standard coil (Eleaf iJust series I believe uses the same coils) and found about 40 watts is all the standard coil wanted to take (30 was the sweet spot) and the NI15 coil did really well at 600 degree's F. That is pretty much where I kept my usage at for the following hours. I have a short video clip of the vapor production in temp mode (600) below if you want to check it out (I am no pro - go easy on my vid
). Flavor was solid using my "The King" e-juice (Peanut Butter) and I could really taste the undertones of the roasted marshmallow and Bavarian cream.
The mod was easy enough to use with the lowest switch toggling it from Power to TI to NI and I found the screen to be easy to see in a well lit room. I also liked that it had it had the "New Atty Yes/No?" question on screen which gave it that re-calibration opportunity (like the Snowwolf) when a tank was attached. The fire button had a little bit of wiggle to it, but still had a solid click when actually engaging it. The magnetic battery cover (like the iStick 100) was very strong and we got a battery strap to help pull the 18650 out (which was missed on my last 75 watt device). Sexy enough, if I may say so & I can see both genders making one their own with the options coming.
Personally and I know some won't agree, but I am glad (again like my istick 100) that they did NOT put in a Lipo battery in this. I prefer to change out and or have the option to charge myself. However I did charge & vaped through the device on USB and had no noticeable issues or heat. I just feel better walking away while "my" 18650 batteries inside are charging.
Speaking of battery the charge life held up all last night and through this morning chain vaping. This would/could be a good replacement for my Sigelei 75 which I parted ways with a few weeks ago because of the battery life.
The bottom line is for the money you can't go wrong for such a robust temp control device with a tank in the box. I paid double this for just a device like this 8 weeks ago!
So below are some close up photos and a quick puff video from Windows Phone.
I hope this quick review helps folks shopping for their next device and in all things go try it out yourself at local B&M and make your own call. That is the way you should decide on what to buy.
NOTE: I want to say in FULL TRANSPARENCY I was able to get an early preview of this device for review from healthcabin.net who is an E-cig supporter. If you are a B&M this is a reliable shipped to the U.S.
