Greetings

Been vaping about a year on tanks. Just got my first RDA and was hoping to up the flavour over subtank mini.

I got a kennedy tobeco clone as I didnt want to drop baller dollars on a first one. Dual micro coil 26g kanthal. Cotton bacon, sitting on evic vtc mini. Tried 15-35 watts. Crazy clouds obviously but flavour is weaksauce compared to my tanks.

Take a look and toss me some advice if you could. I cleaned the hell out of it with mild soap and water and rinsed a tonne.

Thanks!

Hi!
What is your ohm readings? What was your voltage at 35watts? Reason I asked because on RDA's i have this formula i used to have results on not only clouds but also flavour.

I can see that your coils are not identical looking. One end is tighter then the other end. Try your best to make the coil to look identical to each other, the coils are spaced but not too lose and not too tight. When u did all that. Instead of 6 wraps, try 8 wraps. Instead of 2.00mm id, try 2.5mm id. The coil should glow simultaneously together when u dry burn.

Now when thats done, try to reach about 2.6-3.0volts. I think if your ohms are about .2 u might be playing around 40watts.

Thanks for input. Reads 0.48ohm. 4.1v at 35watts.

My initial guess was that the vapour wasnt dense enough cause this atty has crazy non-adjustable airflow.

It isn't enough power and that gauge wire is a bit high for that kind of airflow.

My Kennedy Comp is setup right now with 4 24g coils, one over each of the airflow openings. It is so warm and flavorful. I was just dripping some one hit wonder milkman in it and loving the milky strawberry, its so good. If I was going to do it dual coil, I would be building using 22g kanthal, roughly 6 wraps per coil.

These builds are on mech mods, so it is somewhere over 100 watt with either of the builds that I mentioned. This is the way to make an RDA like this work really well.

Ok, hmm...
I can suggest one build for you and its basically easy. You can try it and let me know what you get. I used 24g kanthal at 2.5mm ids. Clocks out at .21ohms and its nice to have it around 60watts, 3.3volts. If i am not mistaken i did 5 wraps.

As u can see my airflow is much more limited lol. But i get really good flavors out of this and pretty dense clouds!

Its a parallel coil build. A little tricky at first to pull off but trust me, with patience and a little tweaking, some coil pinching, a little bit more dry burns, trial and errors, the vape is superb!

Wow that looks pro. I will do exacty and report back. Gonna pick up some 22
Too much wicking for starters. Also the Kennedy is airy as hell, and favors very hot low resistance builds in my experience.

Heres how I have mine built. Comes in at about 0.18 ohms

Sick. I will give that a go. Will take a steady hand i guess.

Wait, y'all... OP is coming off a kanger tank, and you guys are preachin' 0.2 and under without knowing the mod, batts, any of it? Way to make the nightly news...

@killasmitty what mod are you running, and what batteries do you have in it? Let's make sure it can handle the amp draw before we make a pipe bomb here ;)

I mentioned the mod is evic vtc mini. Single 18650 (samsung).

I think i will keep the kennedy to play with but will go for a variable airflow atty for flavour.

At my LVS is mutation x v4, twisted messes, el cabron, cubed atty, derringer, tugboat clone.

Anyone got a recommendation from that lot? All under $45. Thanks again for y'alls input.

For clouds: Mutation and Twisted Messes
For flavor: Derringer and Tugboat

The Kennedy Competition RDA is just that, it's for cloud competitions to get the biggest clouds - most of the time people don't care if they can taste their juice as long as their clouds are huge. I have one and like it, but I have to vape it at 80W and the flavor is just okay. My Tugboat v2 clone works really well at 40W and has awesome flavor and I can adjust the airflow too, but it doesn't win the cloudz of the year award.

I get huge flavor from my kennedy competition. Like, totally massive in-your-face flavor. I have a ton of RDAs, so me owning it has nothing to do with me saying that its good flavor. It just works that way because of the airflow design. But its made for a lot of power. This is a cloud + flavor RDA. You sacrifice a bit for choosing bottom airflow, because it is easier to leak if overdripped. But if you build it with big wire at low resistance and put the thing on a mech, it works wonderfully.

This is NOT a huge clouds can't taste anything RDA. It is a huge clouds, huge flavor, leaks sometimes RDA. Its just not going to work with some thin wire and 30 watts. It needs more than that.

I'd only recommend NOT spending more than $20 on a clone

UPDATE

Grabbed a vertex mini. Dual micros (26g kanthal, 1.5mm 5wraps, 0.31ohm) sweet spot around 28watts. Lovin the adjustable airflow. Hitting some custards. Saweet.

Put a single macro 22g 2.0mm 6 wrap in the kennedy. Its ok at 40w.

But this tiny atty is better flavour for me now. Im not hmgoin down the high powered mech mod route yet. Lovin the little evic vtc mini.

Good to see you found something you like.

One suggestion. Next time you put coils in it try lifting them a bit higher off the deck and put them closer to the air slots in the cap. IMO that will increase the flavor.

I have found two things are a real killer of flavor.

1. Cotton packed too tightly,
2. The height of the atty or tank.

I LOVE THE Goblin Mini and Kayfun Lite Plus with Bell cap as my favorite tanks.

I love the Freakshow Mini and Rogue are my favorite RDAs

The person with the Kennedy built the coils correctly. The Kennedy has bottom airflow not side airflow as most RDAs.
