Others might not agree with me here , but the way I see it... If you represent the man, you ARE the man... Simple as that.

You were the one setting up the tobacco advertising? You were a sales/spokesperson for a tobacco company? You installed to "point of presence" advertising in stores???

So one day you were setting up advertisements cigarette advertisements in a store, and a man called you a murderer for what you were representing? Without agents doing it's work, how exactly does evil DO it's work? Seriously. How exactly does the IRS do it's work? How do those who would do us harm work? Oh! Through their agents! You were an agent of the tobacco industry, and you got called out on it. Poor little you? I don't think so.

I bet you got paid WELL, as a poor struggling mom of three working for the tobacco industry.

Just my humble opinion.

This was before there was an effective alternative!

Didn't you buy these peoducts for years, filling their coffers?!

Your comment is most unfair.

What a bunch of self righteous claptrap!

Are you sure you're on the right forum?

Calling the lady a murderer cause she is supplying a legal product is basically saying that cigarettes should be illegal. She is not killing anyone or forcing anyone to smoke. She is simply supplying a product that is still legal. Same way "agents" who supply liquor stores with alcohol might be causing thousands of deaths in teens and young adults from automobile accidents, or 20,000 bar fights and stabbings, marital abuse, child abuse and many other problems alcohol can cause. In fact with alcohol, when a person makes a decision to drink or abuse it, they often kill innocent people around them. When someone chooses to smoke, they are only killing themselves. no one us. Unless u believe the 2nd hand smoke BULL****. Should we make alcohol illegal again?

Sorry for the long post, but here is my opinion. I believe people should be educated, but be able to make their own choices. I believe the government does need to look out for our best interests, but at the same time keep our rights and self responsibility intact. Instead of making cigarettes illegal or taking away our rights to make educated decisions, They should just take away the rights of tobacco companies. They should make the product safer, and not allow the tobacco companies to engineer them in any way they want to. Same way food usually has to be inspected and follow guidelines. Then you leave the choice up to an EDUCATED consumer.

As far as vapinig in public places, I would strongly advise against it.

It's probably ok to, but it' s alarming in the public eye and it will just raise more controversy towards ecigs in general. Now is not the best time to do that since everyone is questioning the safety of ecigs.

I understand you want to smoke in public places, but please don't.

I fully and wholeheartedly disagree with you. How can we expect to give ecigs a good name without showing others what they are? Everyone I meet when I'm vaping loves the idea (and the cotton candy smell from the RY4 I usually vape) and is usually really interested.

I haven't had an experience where someone thinks it's bad or even gets alarmed. The worst so far is a curious dumbfounded look from some passersby, but I can't really call that a bad experience.

I see you're from Long Island. The mindset in this post completely explains with how the ecig ban in Suffolk in public places came about. Please, reconsider your thoughts.

Now, I agree, there are places where vaping is definitely inappropriate, basically anywhere that seeing smoke would be rude. But most places are absolutely fine. Having people ask you what it is isn't a bad thing; it's a perfect opportunity to inform people of this alternative.

I accidntly vaped in a store once and got soundly scolded. I told the girl it was a personal vaporizer and that was the end of it. . Another time I did it and said it was an electronic cigarette. That woman nearly went ballistic on me.

I'll bet that poor woman lives all by herself. But maybe she lives with her babies too, its just that her babies happen to be cats. LOL

I was vaping in a movie theater the other night (before the movie started) and I heard someone behind me say ".... is he smoking?"

I just smiled and vaped away until the movie started. :D

Same situation, except I got a personal visit from the manager. He asked me what I was doing. I told him it was a personal vaporizer. He went away.

I had my first Really bad vaping experience out here in Long Island. I was vaping at a club with a few of my buddies the bouncer was cool and mostly every one else thought it was a hoot. That was until a anti smoking Nazi came over to me acting all interisted and ask to hold it and check it out.Long story short my Protege went flying across the room! Apparently it looks like I'm doing drugs and should not be using this! The bouncer then escorted this creature out along with her slimy friends,Im I the first to be assaulted over vaping?

Am I the only one not deathly afraid to say what I really think when somebody gives me a hard time about something like this? I will right out tell them if they dont like it they can shove it up there @$$.

The older I get the less I tend to tip toe around trying not to offend somebody (I am not talking just these PV's either). Screw it if they dont like it they can shove it. I had 2 people this summer on 2 different occasions give me some lip and both of them tucked there tail and retreated quickly when I jumped out of my car with my hands up in the air asking if they had a problem. Now if I did something stupid that deserved it thats another story.

I am not saying to just walk around blatantly vaping away. Even I dont do that.

WOW! Lots of talk on this...the way I see it, when I get mine I am just going to treat it as if it were an acctuall cigarette ie. vape it at the same places I would smoke at.

I could understan the cotroversy it could and HAS brought up allready.

Personally I was a bit (alot) sceptical of the "Smoke these things anywhere" marketing as they do look just like a real cig in some cases and my own instincts just played out in my head the moment I try my first one at the Mall...I could feel they eyes on me! To boot, the kiosk is right next to the food court!!

I plan on just treating this the way I normally use.

Honestly, I will never stop vaping publicly unless they are made illegal. Notice that I did not say "until", I said "unless". I do not fear that they will be banned, but at the most more strict reinforcements or taxes placed on how they are sold, adding to overhead and retail prices. That, however, is a different topic.

Since I started this thread right after Halloween, I have had no negative experiences. With anyone. None. I now officially am self-employed and will be selling these products in my town in mid-December. I want people to know they exist, and I want people to see an actual storefront with informative, helpful employees instead of saying the usual things that I hear: "Oh I heard about that," or "Wow I thought that was just a gimmick, there are multiple brands now?" Most people I have encountered think they are thought they were an invention that would soon be forgotten, but if you're reading this post right now you are part of a community that knows better than that.

I appreciate the input from all of you, but now with a little more experience under my belt I feel we have no reason to hide these devices or even try to convince ignorant snotty people that they are okay. How I behaved was wrong. It wasn't completely inappropriate but it was not the smartest choice at all. I was getting defensive over something that I knew I had no reason to be defensive about. My problem was that I was new to it, and because I wasn't even 100% behind my own device, I failed to think and react properly. I was wrong to make the last comment. If somebody disagrees with you on the topic of e-cigarettes, they have the right to, so walk away. You cannot and will not win every battle. They have as much right to keep their small-minded head up their ... as you do to seek a healthier alternative to smoking and use it wherever appropriate.

Within this thread somebody commented that stealth vaping was wrong. I agree with this to some extent. In some situations like a movie theater, it is a good idea. There are far too many people that could possibly notice and you can't possibly explain it to everyone. If you refuse to stealth vape and refuse to use an LED that doesn't resemble a real cigarette's cherry, be prepared to explain. I myself just purchased green and blue LED batteries from Modern Vapor for when I am in a non-smoking area. I will however continue to carry my amber LED battery for when I am at a bar, or the pool hall, or just walking about. This helps alleviate the unnecessary questions and looks that result in "What is that?" In the same sense, the green and blue help alleviate the unnecessary comments like "Hey you really can't smoke in here, man!" These are the worst, as the person has to approach a stranger and tell them they are wrong. In most scenarios this will internally rile a person up, and the same parts of their brain will be stimulated as if they were going to fight or argue. This is not good, and they will not want to ever admit a mistake, and I assure you will probably not have any interest in hearing how cool your PV is or who they have helped.

Just one man's opinion.

I would like to encourage everyone to vape in normal "smoking areas". This is not so much to be "polite" to everyone as much as it is to show these devices off to the people who desperately need to see PV's. I was out smoking on the one place inside the security perimeter at work (front patio) that smoking is not yet banned and I saw somebody who I've chatted with on smoke breaks for a few years with a PV. I had never seen one before and he showed me how it works and directed me to this forum. Thanks Kevin!

Yeah, I vape in places where cigarettes are banned sometimes. I cover the LED on my 510 and hold on to the vapor so that I don't cause a scene, but I also try to be as conspicuous as possible when I'm in a "smoking area". I have had dozens of people come up and ask me about my PV. I tell them that it's not a direct replacement for real cigarettes, but I've managed to go from almost two packs a day to one pack in over two weeks and counting. Nobody knows what these things will do to you long term, but everybody knows what traditional cigarettes will do to you long term.

I'm just waiting to see somebody I've talked to puffing on a PV in the future. I'm sure it will happen.
