Well, there is the whole argument about everything you read on the internet is true. That was said with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek. :)

There are some dumb doctors out there. Most though work so much they rarely have time to goof off if they want to spend time with their families. Not only do docs have an office Monday through Friday but they are also required to see ALL of their patient's at the hospitals they work at also every 24 hours. So even with the office they have to spend their non office hours seeing their patients at the hospitals and if they work at 5 different hospitals and have 10 patient's at each you could see how much time this would take out of anyone's day. Most of the docs I work with are awesome and work crazy hard! I didn't realize they had crazy hours and requirements like this until I went into nursing. I thought to myself "Why would anyone choose to do this?"

Wow! Well, if Dr.'s are vaping, now I really don't feel guilty. Thank you for posting this.

I feel vaping is safe, certainly safer than cigs...but I just wanted to interject that if you'd ever been at a hospital from 1920-1970, or outside a hospital from 1970-1990s you'd see half the docs and nurses smoking like chimneys.
and yes, they knew for quite some time smoking was bad. they would tell you not to smoke while puffing away. LOL.
so I wouldn't really say "if docs do it, it must be ok"
because i'm fairly sure i've heard that argument about smoking in the past ;)

That is great you helped him. Hopefully he'll tell his colleagues and the word will get around more to the medical community.
Hopefully he will tell the world lol.. will you ask him to OP? (Heh)

To have a cardiologist publicly endorse ecigs would be amazing.

You certainly raise a good point and that is something I never considered. But.... I do believe that medical professionals have come a long way since then. You really don't see them much anymore puffing on cigs. I personally think that vaping has got to be a much healthier alternative. I feel as though I am not getting all the chemicals and crap they put in analog cigarettes to keep them burning but yet I am still getting my "hand-to-mouth" habit satisfied and i get my nic fix.

I vape in the smoking area of a hospital and have had a few of the staff ask about them, mostly just
expressing curiosity.
Weirdest one was a Respiratory Tech ask to let him know what the effects were, I said
all positive. His response was a smile and meant he wanted to know how vaping anti-freeze was...
My face:confused:
Didn't waste time explaining his confusion, never teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Not to derail or hijack your thread here, but I felt like adding this. I have a friend who is in his mid 60's, is a heart patient and was a long time smoker. His cardiologist told him e-cigs are perfectly safe. That absolutely blew my mind. I guess I don't feel as guilty now vaping when I read stuff like this.

Well, I don't know why that matters. The cardiologist isn't privvy to special information on e-cigs that we aren't. I do understand that they have access to tons of medical journals, however, e-cigs are relatively new, so I'm pretty sure there isn't more than 1 or 2 possible research journals out there on e-cigs.

Anyway, it is APPARENT that e-cigs are healthier than regular cigarettes. Anyone who is sane shouldn't need a doctor, or a medical journal, or scientific study to come to that conclusion for them.

The QUESTION is, how harmful are e-cigs? We KNOW they are FAR LESS harmful than cigarettes.....what we DONT yet know is what potential risks go along with them. Is inhaling so much PV or VG over a long period of time (1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 50 years) dangerous? Who knows!

I'm honestly excited to see the future research done on e-cigs. The technology is here to stay, unless it gets made illegal (wouldn't put it past them). Even if PV or VG turns out to be harmful in the long run, you bet your .... they will find another suitable, less harmful alternative in e-cigs. I don't think that is the case though, I'm sure we will find out e-cigs are pretty harmless :)

So, if I can't trust a medical professional's opinion, who can I trust? Maybe I should stop going to my Dr. too? Yes, you raise a good point. IMHO, I still think vaping is a much better and healthier alternative to smoking and when I have confirmation from a medical professional, it just eases my mind a bit. That was all I was trying to convey.

Docs will/would tell you to stop smoking then smoke themselves.
I work in IT and I was constantly telling users to back their stuff up....but I never did.
then again, if it broke I knew how to fix it ;)

Its a classic case of do what I say, not what I do. yeah?

While I believe most of the research so far on e-cig's safety, do remember that one of the largest analog smoking demographics in the US happens to be Doctors and Nurses. Just because they do it, doesn't mean it is healthy.

I never said anything about healthy. Read my post again. I said I don't feel as guilty. Point taken though.

Especially when they pull you over. They'll make you touch your nose.
