I think the mistakes we've all made extracting helped us refine our own method, I for one started by using Distilled water as my medium and it worked fine until one of my extracts grew mold. That led to the use of Triple Distilled Potato Vodka and adding the PG/VG mix to the final flavor extract as a preservative.

My cigars are kept in a ziplock bag that holds a couple Humidor packs, those and the pipe tobaccos are stored in my refrigerator, back of the bottom shelf, hinged side of the door opening.

Yes, some vodka works well with the tobacco extract along with some anejo tequila me.....

So thru the years I have tried a few nets, mostly from HHV which I love. Although i have tried most of their nets and alot are good, I only really prefer 2 which are my adv. Also love a couple from goodejuice and indigo vapes, so I was really excited to have recently placed an order from Naturally extracted tobacco. Purchased the black cherry and a coffee one and also tried one of their hybrids. Anyways I let them steep for weeks, although I tested them prior, but I find them totally different to those other nets I mentioned. These nets just don't seem as clean, and tbh nothing like I anticipated. I can vape the hybrid uncle junk blackberry, it's not to bad, but the other total nets just taste dirty to me. Maybe they need more steeping? All the ones I bought are the heat maceration because I took it they would have more TH compared to the cold maceration. So maybe the cold maceration is closer to juices like HHV and the others I mentioned? I just think the net.com juices taste nothing like those others and I guess I thought they would be kind of similiar

Since each Company may extract with different methods the final product will vary in flavor & clean vs dirty mouthfeel. When I bought NET juice, I tried HHV, GoodeJuice, Vaperite, NET.com, Want2vape, Mountain Oak, QuicknicJuice, Velvet Cloud, Ethervapes, River Bottom Fog Sauce, Ahlusion and a few others.

I settled on GeJ, NET.com, Mountain Oak & Quicknic, and there was only a few from each I really enjoyed prior to making my own. The dirtiest of juices was W2V, but their Paris, Louisville & Stockholm were outstanding, didn't care for rewicking/building the tiny coils in the Tanks I was using, and I'm not talking RTA's.

Ethervapes was another fantastic juice but I arrived to that party right before he shut down his site, RBFS was a cut below for the price and were purchased during a sale & before being discontinued. Though Ahlusion was popular at the time, I thought they lacked something the other NETs had, couldn't place my finger on it, but I preferred others.

If you're chasing a perfect NET, you'll have more fun trying to make your own, otherwise the bottom line is buy what you like and stick with it.

I suggest trying the single leaf tobaccos if you want a pure clean taste. Of course taste is subjective, I tried HHV NETs years ago and each had a peppery spicy taste I didn't like.

Could be I just bought a couple juices I didn't like from them, maybe a single leaf might be the ticket.

Their dragons fire is really good. I know that peppery taste though, it happened when I tried making my own juice and didn't sake everything up good enough.

First... I don't see anything named like Uncle junk blackberry on N-E-T.com's website... there are Air Cured Blackberry and Uncle BJ's Blackberry.

I suspect you are tasting a particular flavor that doesn't agree with you... from the selections you gave ( including that silly one ) I'm going to guess the issue you had could have been with either ( or a combination of ) the burley, flue-cured and/or fire-cured tobacco's. The flue and fire cured one's will have a smokey taste to them and perhaps that is what you are thinking is "dirty" tasting... or maybe it's the burley itself but it's usually described by others as being a medium to a dark flavor and often sweet ( in a tobacco like way ).

I know that Uncle BJ's Blackberry was/is popular with many once the juice has stepped well and the fruity blackberry has moved to the back of the flavor profile. If I recall ( and it's been a long time now ), I liked it more than the Air Cured because it was a little darker flavored and had a smokier flavor as well.

When you come back to them after they steep... make certain you are using a new clean wick/coil so you aren't getting any carbonized taste from previous juices. If you still get the flavor you are talking about... pay attention to how you'd describe it. In addition, when you try the next one... see if it's the same or at least a similar flavor with the next juice.

And for getting possible suggestions....

Describe what you are looking for... including just saying what brand/flavor you like. For instance many of the HHV juices are relatively sweet compared to most other NETs. Are you looking for a cigarette flavor.. if so an American, European or French type? Perhaps a pipe is more in line... if so what type... aromatic, English, etc. Or maybe something in a cigar. Do you prefer a sweet or dry flavor or something in between. More of a green or a brown grassy taste perhaps. The more info you can pass on, the more likely you'll get a suggestion closer to your liking.

If you don't have a clue yet... just pay attention to them as you vape and read the descriptions given on the websites and by others. Eventually you'll start connecting the dots and get to know what you are looking for more by a description.

Yes it was uncle BJ's blackberry . I can usually tell if I like a juice just from the initial smell, I know that seems hard to believe but every juice I have ever bought, the initial smell has always been correct. When I opened all initially only the BJ's smelled ok but the black cherry and fresh ground coffee smelled exactly the same and smelled nothing like there name. They all were mixed on 2/27 and even now the blk cherry and coffee smell and taste , well I don't know what they taste like, kind of like smelly feet. Unfortunately I don't know the terms of what I like, like tobacco varieties, I just know that I like sweet type tobaccos and the ones I usually like seem to be described as pipe tobaccos although I never smoked a pipe. I know it's me and not the company, for I know they have a great following and it's probably because of the flavors I picked, I just didn't know if the cold maceration might be a cleaner taste perhaps? It's just that all those other nets I have tried never tasted different to regular juices , like they didn't really taste like a net, just a good juice. I mean I always heard a net tasted more authentic like, but the ones I had tried, I never really said to myself, wow this really taste like a real cig, or a real cigar, or a real pipe, it just tasted good but couldn't really say "oh these juices really are so different from regular juices" . But these recent juices are like different, they taste like a half smoked burnt tobacco or something, just night and day. But I will try perhaps a couple other flavors and try to pin point what descriptions the previous nets were and try to match these new ones a little better. One thing I know is that I don't seem to prefer any actual cigarette flavors

NET's will not taste ( for a typical person at least, since taste is subjective ) like burning tobacco. Having said that, the flue cured, fire cured and latakia tobaccos ( ordered in the least to the strongest ) can have a campfire flavor to them ... or smokey flavor since they are cured using smoke.

A cold maceration will have a more nuanced flavor... a heat maceration will be bolder. I've can't remember ever having heard someone describe one or the other as cleaner or dirtier tasting.

About trying to pick out the flavors that you like or dislike and then later how to describe them... only by paying attention to the flavors can you "develop" that skill but by doing that... you also learn more about what it is that you like. It's really no different than trying to tell what goes into a food recipe in a sense only with different components.

You always hear that taste is subjective... perhaps that is what is causing the differences in what you are experiencing. I know it happens for a fact... I'm very much like that with Latakia tobacco, I get a completely different taste than what everyone else has described, so much so that I can detect it in such low quantities that others never even notice.

I have yet to find a cherry anything ( tobacco wise ) that I cared for much even though I've had real pipe tobaccos with it that I really have liked. On the otherhand... I did like the blackberry in Uncle BJ's and how it worked with those tobaccos used but was less thrilled with it in the Air Cured Blackberry... so expect some of the same with what you find, sometimes a flavor combination will work for you and other times not.

I'll repeat myself... even if you don't detect or know the flavors now... just paying attention to them and seeing what you like/dislike even if you can't put it into words yet will eventually pay off in the long run.

Moving here from the new members thread ... new to this!

I am very proud that I have just finished my first NET. I smoked for 32 years and when I quit a month ago (after my FIRST vape ever...) I am now sitting on about 5lbs of tobacco. I was really a serious smoker. Decided to try some of the techniques I read here and made an extract from one of my favorites - Turkish Bold (makes my mouth water still). I only used an ounce for my first try and it smells really good (with a hint of PG). It is VERY dark (coffee dark).
My question is, if you have tried this before, what % of this magic elixir should I use to make my juice? I initially thought 10% which is usually what I end up with on a traditional fruity DIY but it is SO STRONG I was just wondering ...

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I have wasted a lot of tobacco at the beginning. Wrong tobaccos and wrong methods. Now its very easy for me to make a good extract:

1. tobacco: You like sun cured turkish or not ? Try
Peter Stokkebye turkish 84 pipe tobacco
2. make a mixture, for example: 50ml VG, 50ml PG and 50ml 96%Vol ethanol and poor it over the 30-50 gramm tobacco and close the jar
3. put it in a waterbath at 45°Celsius for 3-4 days.
4. put the tobacco away and filter the extract
5. put the extract in the oven at 50°Celsius to evaporate
the ethanol for 4-5 hours
6. ready to mix it with base and to vape immediately

In my opinion the most important thing is ethanol with vg and pg and not too hot.

Cold extractions with the same ingredients are even good but it will take time for steeping. I have done only one cold extraction with 45%VG, 45PG% and only 5% ethanol. I have tasted it after 11 months and it was even good.

Awesome. I have a half-pound of Export 84 and I just started extracting. This is perfect - recipe and all. What % do you use to mix?

Typically around 20-25% extract in a mix... of course it differs depending on the extract itself.

Yes, I usually start with SMALL batches at 18% and go up a percent until I hit my flavor favorite. Also the watt/temp one vapes at is a factor. Cigar extracts require high concentrations in my opinion.
Like rdsok, most extractions I vape fall right around 20% and a few a bit higher. Remember you are in charge of what you may like. Experiment! :vapor:

I would start at 25% and go from there. You can always dilute it further if it's too strong.

I've had some extracts that I've liked at even 15% ... so there is no rule per se. In fact, some flavorings are extremely strong/concentrated... for example if you add a true menthol, you'll probably just use a few drops in a 15-20ml bottle at most.

Perhaps 10 but i dont look for percents. I am mixing referring this darker colour in the bottle. In german we call it "Bernstein". I mean the net. The extract has to look like dark coffee.

What method did you use to filter and get it so clear? I ordered some whatman filters as I have used them in lab during med school and they seem to clear about anything. Is there a cheaper way? Thanks.
