Hey guys,

Looks like purple wrapped Efest batteries are getting a pretty bad rap (pun intended) around here... MVS has the battery in the title as a new item. I wanted to get a 30 Amp battery but the ones commonly recommended here (Samsung 25r, LG HG2) are 20 Amp.

Anyone try these 30 Amp Efests or have any opinions if they should still be (as one ECF member " @sonicbomb " put it) avoided like the plague?

If still a no go - anyone recommend a 30 amp 18650 that MVS currently carries?

Thanks

Purple Efests get a bad rap for good reason. If you don't believe me, take the time to search ECF and you'll find lots of posts detailing exactly why. I'm not familiar with MVS, so I don't know what stock they carry.
If you want a 30 amp cell: Sony VTC4, Orbtronic SX30, LG HB2 HB4 and HB6 are your choices.

There's no 30A battery with a capacity anywhere near 2600mAh so I would take those ratings with a grain of salt. No Efest has ever once tested out to its ratings.

They typically wildly exaggerate the current rating but do ok with the capacity. It's probably a 15A or 20A, 2500mAh-2600mAh battery...at a very high price...that can change what's used under the wrap at any time.

In my opinion, the only true 30A batteries are the HB2/4/6. The VTC4 can be taken that high but is hot as hell as a 30A battery.

Cool thanks everyone and for the links. @Susan~S not limited to MVS but would have been easier to add a battery to an existing shopping cart. Looks like I'll do a bit more research and get from somewhere else. I was interested in 30A vs 20A just to be overly cautious. I'm using a regulated mod so I don't think the mod would let the draw get over 20A anyway. I'm still trying out a lot of different ohms, wire types, temperatures, and watts to find what is most enjoyable for me. Still haven't found that sweet spot. I refer to ohms law before hitting fire but thought 30a would cover me if I made a mistake or changed a setting accidentally.

    Completely untrue.

The mod will protect itself. It has no idea if the battery is being stressed too hard or overheating. And a battery being stressed too hard will have a shortened life and, if stressed hard enough, can vent or worse.

You must still select a battery that can handle the current the mod draws without overheating.
The link above is just one of @Mooch battery blog posts. He is well know around here for all of his battery bench tests. Here are several more you may find very beneficial.
