On the M-class, power mode (i.e., non-TC) uses Watts, not Joules. Soft/Powerful/Powerful+ preheat settings on the M-class are based on the Watt or Joules setting of that mode (e.g., at 60W Soft, the preheat is just below 60W), but with the ML-class it's unclear. Maybe you can set it to 60W with 120W preheat, yet then still apply Soft/Powerful/Powerful+ to vary the preheat some more. Or maybe it's totally different.
Yeah ok I'm following you. Cause joules are measured in time so technically they say that the way it's set up is that in joules mode you will get a two second hit at however many joules you're at which is better then setting it to let say 200 watts and then instantly dropping down to 30 watts. Or are the watts already set in joules mode and then you choose the joules and that does what they consider the best vape at that wattage combined with the joules you set it to?

Just spoke to a YIHI rep and she recommended me not to purchase the ML class if I've already gotten the M class.

The ML is essentially the M with support for more wires and comes with the SXi~Q software that allows users to select different modes and taste profiles.

Anyway, YIHI will be releasing a dual battery mod this coming christmas. Got my source from the horses mouth..

Did they say if the dual battery mod will be using a new chip other than the one being used in the ML class?

Technically speaking, if one limits Joules per second rather than instantaneous max power, one has more algorithmic freedom to apply power within the Joules constraint for a given time period than an instantaneous max power constraint. That being said, what the chips actually do is pretty similar so far as temp control goes (i.e., applying a constant power than dropping off at the resistance limit).

Nice!
Cheers for taking the time to get some answers.
A dual 18650 inc, lipo even sounds better.
With the build quality they give and it being dual in a normal setting (no long tube) that gonna be a no brainer by that time.
Least can prepare a bit now so wont be on any list for dec :p
Fast model releasing in a row though, must make some think to just wait for dec release and skip this one?

@Monoxxide I guess it depends on how you see it.

The ML seems to be the latest iteration of the SX350 series chip so by now, most of the firmware/chip issues should be stamped out. We can safely assume that its probably gonna be the best single 18650 chip out in the market right now.

The new chip that they're launching this December however, will be something different altogether and we're still unsure just how good it might or might not be. On top of that, there are still a great number of people around who enjoy the small form factor of the SX MINI.

Sorry to interrupt the flow of Evolv off-topic garbage, but I thought I'd share this:

Rumored release date/price is around mid-October at $199 MAP.

    Sounds good!

I've mentioned before that my NEXT mod will need to have user adjustable TCR values so I could experiment with any wire type I wished so with this announcement YiHi chipped mods may still be in the running.

Personally I like the form-factor of the SXminiM but I can't help but be a bit disappointed that YiHi did not go with dual 18650 - this makes the sale more difficult as do I really want yet another single 18650 mod?

Oddly, while many of the others are now moving the Temp value to the up/down buttons I've come to the slow realization that I'll generally leave the temperature setting fixed to one value and different builds may need more or less Joules or ramp setting to fire well. This is a complete 180 from my first few days/weeks/months with the SXminiM.

I agree with you. Both are great products and there is not any reason to bash anyone. I would like to talk about the device in the header of this thread not the dna200. It has its place in the market and its own thread. I gave up on catching up on any information it was too difficult to weed thru the b.s. Anyone have good information on the new wires its going to use, I seen Iron? Thats something I never would have expected. And gold which is the most conductive metal as far as I know this is a interest too.

    Exactly.. ;) Just a reminder:

I'm just the opposite, I fiddle with my temps with every juice mix change, with every re-wick (or as the wick is getting worse), and don't mess with the joules I've set unless it's a radical change in resistance with a new build or atty swap. Also pretty much leave it in Power-FU mode all the time as well.

As for a Yihi produced dual 18650 mod, I'd be in the market for that, but ONLY if it's close to the same size as a Vaporflask, or iJoy Asolo. And ONLY if they use quality light materials the next go-around. I love the features of my SX Mini M, and the aesthetics don't make my eyes bleed, but as I mentioned before, it usually sits without a battery in it because it's just TOO. DAMNED. HEAVY.

Thats the beauty of the modern APV - lots of settings so different users can use them differently.

Here's hoping that the new model has editable wire types, not just have more that are pre-loaded in firmware.

While I don't mind the 'heft' of the SXminiM (and leave a battery in it 95% of the time) I'm not quite sure how the dual 18650 being released in December will feel if they use the same construction methods.

I just sold my M-Class here in the classies. There were some things I loved about the M-Class, and other things that needed improvement. I sold it because I like to try new things, and lest you think I am YiHi hating I sold my Hana DNA40 as well. The ML seems at best a transitional unit when compared to the M. Some things that needed to be addressed but have not include:

    1. Battery Cap - Someone has said that the threads have been improved. Great. But a unit in this price range should be able to engineer tool-less battery replacement. I do not miss carrying a screwdriver.
    2. Battery Life - The first point brings me to my second. The board just tears through batteries. So not only is it a pain to change the batteries, but you have to do it frequently. You can feel the performance drop off in the last 1/2 of the batteries charge.
    3. Weight - Many consider this a positive, but I came to have a different view. The mod is made out of a die-cast zinc alloy, probably something similar to Zamak-3. This is common with low cost firearms like Hi-Points, toys, etc. It isn't an amazing metal, but it is fairly durable and cheap. But one negative is that it is difficult to paint if not carefully prepped. Knowing what it is made out of, the weight is a constant reminder that it is made out of an inexpensive pot-metal.
I am intrigued to hear about a possible dual 18650 or lipo unit. That will give this board the power that it needs. SXi-Q sounds intriguing, we'll have to wait and see what kind of control it gives the end-user to properly compare it to Escribe.

The SX-350J chip is a extremely nice, medium powered, high-end, high featured chip. I'm sure the V2 will improve on that. However, I will wait to see what comes next. With Evolv coming out with the high powered, high-end, high featured DNA200 chip, I can't help but think that YiHi will develop something else to help compete with it, as they really are not directly comparable in their categories. That is why I think YiHi probably wants this as a stop-gap.

Would be nice to see them continue to support the M class, especially since the ML is a minor upgrade. If not, they're just another manufacturer looking to make some quick money.

I wouldn't mind a larger box mod that takes not only lipos but comes with a adapter sort of battery tray that takes two 18650's.

Black polished 316L stainless steel case with DLC coating, a high resolution display with sapphire crystal glass.

Also, a sturdier 510 connector with a built in heat sink to dissipate heat better.

I'm tired of walking around with this hideous looking abomination....
