I have been vaping for four years, starting with a little 650 mah joytech. The tank was the top fill with the coils or wicks being little strings. I thought I had really moved up and have been very happy with my Mini Nautilus and Mini Pro tank II. For two years I have used the Itaste VV3 and/or VV4. I use an Eleaf 30 watt with my Mini Nautilus. Well guys except for the Mini Nautilus the other vape supplies are either no longer available or hard to find. I did find the Mini Pro Tank II in limited quantities and bought a couple. I am now trying to lay in supplies to last me.
The Itaste and Eleaf 30 watt has been discontinued.

What I call sub ohm or clouds chasing is taking over and the manufacturers are marketing toward those who love doing this and leaving the ones like me behind. I cannot use a sub-ohm device. It chokes me. It make me cough so hard, I might as well be smoking a stinky.

I realize that I am a minority and that there are those who say I don't even want to try but believe me I have and every time I bought a set up, I gave it away to my son or daughter in law or sometimes just a friend. Some of us cannot do this. Some of us cannot take this much into our lungs.

I realize I am just venting and no one on this site can help but right now, I am very frustrated.

Hey @urchin58

No need to vent or rant.... there is plenty out there still.

Also, difficult to believe, but you are still in the majority actually. The standard vapers outnumber the sub-ohm-ers by huge amounts; it's just we don't see them - but the shops do. Both my local shops are selling way more of the classic stuff.

You know all these mods are now doing 75w and temp control? Well, you can still buy iStick 40w and use it exactly the same as a 20w or 30w.
Look at it from the perspective of the China brands.... given that technology has moved on, why continue selling a product that looks disappointing on paper when a more complex mod will sell better and still power the most gentle of vapes for those that want.

I have a 200w mod. I vaped on it today at 14w. It works, there's no catch.

I can imagine Protank 2s are seemingly on the way out, but there's no shortage away from the mainstream shops. There thousands for sale all over the place, just not at the shops we've all come to trust and use for ages.

Try not to get pulled into the vaping that the industry wants.... stick it to the man! Vape your way... :)

At least as far as the batteries go, if you run something with a higher wattage capability at low watts you get amazing battery life! I've found what works for me, I'm no cloud chaser but I can subohm at .4-.5 with no problem. Husband on the other hand, can't handle it, coughs like crazy, so I have been searching for a setup that he can tolerate. So far building at 1.5 with the airflow closed down a lot on a Toptank mini is working ok (he's a restricted direct lung hitter). Best wishes in finding equipment you like in today's market!

You are not being left behind. True, the vape market is changing, but choices remain for all types of vapers. As djsvapour just pointed out, new mods can be used at any power level. Look at the very small and successful Eleaf Pico. Yes, it can be used up to 75W, but it works quite well at 7.5W too, with excellent battery life. Aspire just released their Nautilus 2, which uses the same coils as the original Nautilus and Triton mini.

One way to truly "future proof" yourself is to become familiar with building your own coils. There are excellent mtl tanks available including a number of "brand new" releases. True, it is not as convenient as using a factory coil, but it is far more cost effective and an excellent strategy of avoiding the need for ongoing availability of the manufacturer's production line. It also protects you in an uncertain future where government regulations might well make obtaining items such as a factory coil more difficult.

There are options for low power vaping out there, it's just a matter of adjusting to what is available a the market matures.

Time to hunt down the clearances and stock up. The wattage race has left many a fine deal for those of us who need 15 watts or less. Good luck!
Yes. Agreed! Very good comment. :)

Let me make say one additional thing about this.
There are bargains galore (online mostly) but there are also some really horrible and nasty people out there feeding the 'old tech' market.
I saw some 2014 coils a few weeks ago for $4 each (equivalent).... we were buying 5-packs (not from China) for about $8 in 2015. So watch out for people trying to make money in this way.
Protank 2s are about $8-$11 in the UK but I would bet there are people selling the coils for double the 2014 price as well.

I can understand your dilemma. I still love my protank minis and 2's. for battery's similar to the VV but better there are some great 14500 mods out there. The dicodes mini for one. The protank 4 with the 1.2 ohm coil is a good tank replacement for the 2. Then if you get into rebuilding the options are wide open depending on your budget.

Someone mentioned the Pico. I did see and will take a closer look. That could replace my Eleaf 30watt. As long as it does not put out a warm vapor I can do it. I just ordered three VV3 from a site thanks to some ones feedback to my post. It is hard sometimes to know which online company to buy from. There are two that I usually get supplies from, if this new company works out then I will have another source. We are limited in my area to the B&M stores but next time I travel I may stop at every shop I see. lol It is definitely time to stock up on batteries, tanks, and coils. Thanks guys for all the feed back. I will take all ideas into consideration. Thanks for letting me vent.

The market is complying with the yuppies who just want to prove they are way more than they really are. My wife and I vaped to quit smoking with overpriced ego kits, maybe started at the bottom but how far you go is up to you. I don't care about the 4, 8, 12 coil heads, the fancy atomizers that require rocket science degree to figure out or super high wattage hitters....We wanted to quit smoking. I took the route of KISS, revamp/rebuilt heads, making my own juice and making the gear I had perform the best it can...and that I did.
I have made a few lousy atty purchases along my journey to have a reliable vape that my wife doesn't need to fiddle with but those "losses" were drops in the bucket of the bigger picture.
The kanger T3, then the protanks were attys that were simple to rebuild and easy to maintain so after the clearo kits, the protanks were what we vaped for long time. I did sidetrack with kayfuns for a while since there was more ability to vape lower ohm coils than in protanks.
We began to tire of constantly refilling protanks because the coils I built were efficient and 2 mls went fast so researched and got a couple subtank mini kits, that was almost 2 years ago and still vaping those subtanks but I have enough RBA's, tanks and parts to last us almost forever. They have been the most reliable atty for our needs and I stopped looking for better loooooong time ago.

Mount Baker has some older items still on sale, too.

I vape at a whopping 17w on my 200w mod. There is no reason one cannot do this, as well. :)
My buddy vapes at 12 watts with Kayfun Lites and he has about 10 new high watt mods. Just talked him into a Merlin for a tank.

I'm using (_____) mod (which doesn't matter) and a Smok TFV4 with the Clapton RC1 RBA. That sounds like a cloud chaser right? Nope. 8 wraps of 24 gauge, running at 11.0 watts. I never have to worry about finding coils, I just roll a new one up. It's cheap too.

Get a Kanger Top tank or a TFV4 or TFV8 with a single coil (or clapton) RBA. It's easy, especially for low wattage builds.

Even the Limitless XL has a nice RBA section. Super nice air flow control (you can make it tight), and easy wicking. Rebuildable tanks are the way to go.

Sometimes I want to throw clouds at home, so I have stuff for that. But generally I just want a drag like I used to when I smoked.

While writing this, I was playing with the airflow on the Limitless. I has the tightest locking of all those atomizers I have. So if you set it, it's not going to change. It goes from 100% closed to wide open.

That huge drip tip is replaceable to use normal drip tips. Matched with the Sigelei Spark, it's pretty small, all things considered. I take it with me mountain biking, hiking, in the car, everywhere.

Then Kanger Top Tank is small in diameter, with similar features. Even the TVF4 Mini (if you can find it) is 22mm also, very nice atomizer with the RBA.
