Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
If you want to be in the 1.8Ω, 9 watt, MTl range, you really can't beat a kayfun clone. I have a Russian, a Lite and a V4. They're not my tanks, really, as I am a direct lung vaper, but for tootle puffing they're hard to beat. I'd suggest you try a clone first to see if you like it. Real ones are high-dollar.

NAhhhh. Does your vaporizer check ohms? I just build the coil, attach it to the posts and screw the deck on to the vaporizer to check the ohms.

I don't pre-burn the metal. After I make the coil and attach it to the posts, screw it on the vaporizer, I turn it on to make the coil red and then I squeeze the coils together. Works fine. When the coil is red, turn off the power and quickly squeeze the coil with tweezers or pliers with a pointed nose. Hold it for 10 seconds and don't squeeze to hard.

Yes, my mod has an ohm-meter! Oh okay, good tips! And indeed Robert, i can use drill things, we have some in the garage with indeed the diameter on it. Oh is a clone of a kayfun that cheap?! And it works fine? Is it legal?
They were that cheap, but now out of stock. Legal? Depends on where you are I suppose. Is it "right" Nope. But clones of vaping devices abound. Chinese companies even clone other Chinese companies products.

here in the US Kaypro clones usually run around $20 US.

Yes. None of that Subtank Mini Nonsense for a 'real' MTL vaper.

LOL. I like the ease of fill on the STM and it does fine for flavor and tootling as well as moderate clouds if you so desire. Probably the most versatile tank out there. Simple low parts count easy to get parts for if you need them, etc.
Just me but I will never buy a tank you have to fill thru that little screw hole. Yeah I know the 400 part KFV4 is topfill...
If not for that little fill hole I would get a Goblin Mini.

Before you buy any tank, go back to steam engine. Hit the paper clip icon. Scroll down to 'heat flux'. Read, you dont have to be locked into a specific set resistance.
Also, a bvc will not equate to a horizontal coil on the STM..
True. I like the RBA coils better than the factory vertical coils.

Thank you, the site 'steam engine' you mentioned is defently gonna help me i think!

Yes, i think i wanna go for this kanger subtank (or the mini, or the mini v2) because there are lots of movies and sites that helps with how to do it with this particuraly tank.

But i did not found any video that talks about 1.8 ohm coils for this one, so i am not sure or it will be easy to do this. thanks for your reply!!

Hi Skyrex.

When you plug in the Values for your Coil in the Steam Engine site, and then put in the Watts you think you are going to use, Check Out the "Heat Flux".

The reason I mention this is because at Higher Ohms with 30ga wire, the Heat Flux changes very slowly when the Watts are Increased/Decreased. Nothing wrong with 30ga wire. But when you are New to Building, 28ga might be a Little Easier to work with verses 30ga.

So I would suggest starting with 28ga Wire. And lower the Ohms to 1.5 Ohms.

Also, a Larger Diameter Coil is Easier to Wick. And more forgiving if the Wick Isn't Perfect. I would try 3.0mm or even 3.5mm Coils at 1st.

BTW - I have a couple of Kanger Subtank Mini's. They are a Great RTA.

My subtank Mini v2 just arrived! I jused alot of the information from this thread!! Thanks so much!

What i used:
- Kanthal A1 (28 GA)
- Fiber Freaks cotton blend (wicks)
- a 3 mm drill
- the screwdriver (the blue one, included in the box)
- pliers with a flat side

What i did:
- first i took like 7 centimeters of wire
- then i did it around the drill, i did like 9 (maybe 10, not sure) wraps
- i hold it steady above the screws
- i did cut the ends if the wire, so they did not come further then the screws
(NOTE: first time i did fail in this phase: because i did first screw the coil, and then cut the ends, but then the ends touched the wall you have to put it above)
- i did the coil in the right place with the blue screwdriver (not to high, not to low, good in the midle)
- then i put the coil on my IPOW2 (kanger) (because my innokin itaste is broken :( the ohm mater fails, waiting for replacement)
- i did "dry burn", there did come smoke from it, i think this where some oil left overs from the wire
- then i did dry burn again, and then quik stop pushing the "fire-button" and pushed the coil wraps closer to each other with a pliers with flat end.
- then i did the metal cap over the deck (whitouht the screwable hat)
- then i placed the coil even more in place with the blue srewdriver
-then i took the fiber freaks wick, i pushed one end together, so it is more easy to fit through the holes of the coil AND the cap
- did the wick a lidl pull on the left, lidl pull on the right and then cuted it so it is sticking out a lidl bit on both sides of the "cap" of the deck
- then i did some drips of liquid on the outside and aswell on the inside, right on the coil (with wicking)
- placed evrything in place, filled my tank
- wait to let the juice (50-50 pg-vg) get properly in to the wicks
- put it on my kanger i pow, it measures 1.4 - 1.5 (when used for some puffs, when its a lidl hotter it measures 1.5 ohm) so i guess it will be around 1.45 Ohm?

- And it worked perfect! lovely taste, the ohm stays constant (1.4 or 1.5 after some puffs)

Thanks so much for al your help! It has the perfect "heat" (more cold vape, wich i like) for me and taste even better then the nautilus mini BVC 1.8 ohm Coils!!! + the airflow is more my thing (i do mouth to lung, but love much air)!

Cool. Sounds like things went Very Well.

Making your own Coils is all that hard once you do it a Few Times. And opens up a Whole New World.
