From uwell:
It sounds like there may be an issue with the coils. I would recommend getting a pack of replacement coils and try those out. We have had some complaints from customers regarding this issue, and changing out the coil has fixed their problems.
Regards,
uWell

Although I have already told him I changed out the coil several times...OY

UGH...I have a pack of replacements but I haven't broken into them yet. I am not going to just toss a coil because it's being a pain in the .... lol I will keep trying to push through with this one until it's good and shot and then I'll try another one...although at this rate, I am about ready to toss this one after a week. That burned taste in and out does not make for a good vaping experience.

I ended up poking 2 holes per juice hole and 4 holes down through the top vertically. Hope this helps. Good luck!

OK so I almost got the dry hit as well from the stock 0.5 ohm coil from the kit.. stopped vaping straight away, got a needle and poked some holes in the wick holes as well as up top, hasn't completely resolved the issue unfortunately..

Gonna have to wait til my new coils arrive from fasttech I think, such a shame as I don't wanna stop using this tank, the flavour and clouds are honestly second to none of the tanks that I own!

Hopefully the replacements get here soon and the potential issue of the cotton being too tightly packed has been fixed!

Glad I found this thread. The two 0.25 coils that I've tried so far have been drying hitting me like crazy. But not right away. And it's not a priming issue. I soak that thing good. I'll go through 3 or 4 tanks using 65% to 70% VG juice at 70 watts and everything is fine. But then they start dry hitting. And so I have to lower the watts a little bit and take shorter drags. And then it keeps happening so I keep having to lower the wattage. But eventually I'm under 50 watts and it's no longer a satisfying vape. I thought since these stainless steel coils go up in resistance when they're warm (0.25 to 0.30), I'll switch to VV mode on my iStick 100 and lock it at a steady 4.0 volts. But that didn't help either. Releasing the vacuum on the tank by loosening the top cap also didn't help.

So I just tried the sewing needle method described earlier in the thread. I poked holes all the way through the cotton in the four feed holes and also made four vertical punctures from the top of the coil all the way to the bottom. Back to 70 watts and getting a nice warm wet vape again. Woohoo.

I wanted to follow up here. I followed the video from earlier in the thread with a NEW .25 coil and so far it's worked well. I followed step by step and I've gone through 60 ml of Dragonfruit 60/40 at 70 to 90 watts with no problems yet. The needle poke method does also work. There's just a lot of cotton in those coils!

So i bought the Crown tank months ago, the first version i got gave me extreme dry hit problems, apparently, that was the first version. The airflow is a but smaller than the later version. SO i bought my second Crown tank and i was loving it......for a few days. All this hype of this coils can go through chain vaping, lasting about a month, no dry hits at all even using Max vg juices are just bull crap. I am so ...... about this. Living in malaysia, i had to wait so long before the crowns actually arrived. I was dissapointed with the crown,it did not even last a week for each coil. And apparently it could also take higher wattages. I fire at 50. I recently just bought a herakles, and then i bought the freemax starre pro. Honestly, its much much better than the crown and atleast it lasts longer. The crown is great but only for as long as the coils last, which is a very short period of time.

So Cal
I vape at least 30 mls a day in my crowns 80% VG, and it is the only tank I ever use now! I have three crowns, and I've never had a dry hit. But I do take the time to prime each coil carefully, sort of like the old days of priming cartos for cartotanks! I certainly don't get a month out of a coil, but I can get about a week out of one (so around 200mls).

Okay, so i had the weird issue of having the 0.5 ohm coil work flawlessly for 3 days and the morning of the 4th waking up and it dry hitting and burning out. This was using 50/50 vg/pg and at 50w...the previous 3 days id run it at 44w (which seems to be the safe option with these dodgy coils, the 0.25 ohm head i tried next would dry hit at 50w too)

So i sent Crown an email and got the form reply, priming, tank full, coil head screwed in properly, buy a new set of coils etc. I decided that wasnt good enough so i sent them another reply debunking most of their points, point by point...especially the advice to fork out AUD$17 for a new coil pack and roll the dice.

I received the following reply this morning, and for the first time (ive seen), they acknowledge there was an issue with the coils, apparently fixed now, but no telling how long the bad batch will be out there as they have no way of telling where they are distributed, so its still a bit roll of the dice until people unfortunately clear the bad batches.

Hello,

First off, I would like to inform you that the issue with our coils burning out quickly has been resolved. However, there is still a bad batch out there that a few shops/distributors still have a hold of. We are unable to recall the defective coils because we do not know exactly who has received them. We take this matter very seriously and we are compensating all of our customers that have purchased a Crown tank with defective coils, no questions asked. If you would like us to send you a free pack of coils please send the shipping charge of $6.00 to our PayPal account "myuwell@gmail.com" and we will get those sent over to you. Include in the comment section: Your full name, shipping address, and the email in which you used to contact us. Please note that the $6.00 shipping charge is for domestic shipping in the U.S. only and international customers might have to pay more depending on location. Thank you!

Wow, at least they replied you.. How long did that take if you don't mind my asking? As I'd also sent them an email and haven't heard a peep from them

I sent my first email on the 19th, they replied yesterday, i replied last night, they replied this morning. I did make quite a strong argument both times.

The contact has been the only plus side. Lets hope the coil issue is fixed and the dodgy stock dies a quick death.

Lets hope they take a lesson from this in batch tracking as well

Oddly enough I'd also emailed them on the 19th. They must be getting hammered but I obviously didn't make a strong enough argument. I've just replied to my own email to them advising that they are getting hammered on various forums and they've already gone to action on compensating customers for their issue, let's see if that gets anyone's attention.

Thanks @stylemessiah
