I emailed her - hopefully she is still after testimonials. I made mine as brief and 'sound bytey' as possible lol

I have a heart for "thinking" of what to say, and an anger to actually say what my heart feels, but when I try to write it out it disappears, I hate that, lol.

It's a recreational hobby, past time, whatever you'd care to call it. And they want to take it away, when I just found it?

Can you believe that after only 2.5 days of being analog free I'm actually SCARED to be stuck with going back?

What in the sam dickens are these people thinking? I don't give a good .......n about their money. *shakes a fist* Give us some g'damn freedom here.

You are going through the same thoughts as all of us when we first joined here. Hey, look on the bright side: right now they are still legal. And may be so for some time to come. So vape and enjoy. Stock up a little if it make you feel safer. I have a 2-year supply in case the worst happens.

I like to stay informed and have a lot to say myself on this forum, but I take solace in the fact that I'm a vaper and not a politician (well, one CAN be both). I can relax in front of my computer with my favorite e-cig, get involved in some cyber activism, and let the politicians and lawyers fight this out.

In the new e-cig world, there's lots of money to be made and lots of cages to be rattled. I just prefer to hunker down with what works for me, and watch with fevered amusement like a Roman citizen in the Coliseum watching the Gladiators (lawyers and politicians) tear each other to shreds. All while vaping my favorite 24mg flavor. Life can be good.

'k, I just added my signature and the following statement to the Care2 petition:

I am a loyal customer of the electronic cigarette smoking alternative, and I have been informed that the FDA has taken the step to bar importation of these products. I want you, as my elected representatives to help me continue to enjoy this product by demanding that the FDA will not in any way limit my access to or ban electronic cigarettes.

I began using my electronic cigarette in January 2009, and threw my cigarettes away! Electronic cigarettes do NOT claim to be a smoking cessation product, but I have been purchasing the NO NICOTINE cartridges for 9 months and I am still very much enjoying my NO NICOTINE electronic cigarette.

There is no 'secondhand smoke or tar' and perhaps, like me, it will not be long until others who are using ecigs will also be OFF OF NICOTINE, as well as the other many HARMFUL chemicals contained in tobacco cigarettes -- while still LAWFULLY enjoying the action of 'vaping' an electronic cigarette.

I was a desperate closet smoker for 34 years - carrying gum/hand wipes/light cologne everywhere so that I could sneak out and smoke. 'Vaping' has changed my life - so much - for the better! It is so hard to quit smoking cigarettes, but I have. Don't take my ecig away !!!

Oh and I added the link to my signature - I hope that was ok with the forums gods.

I just signed... twice! Oops! #86 & #87. Well? The first one didn't seem to take. Can you rhyme "noob?" I'm one of those "zealots." I have real zeal for nicPVs.

I didn't like putting in my street address. Now "they" can find me! Doh! What am I? Suicidal? Whad'I say?

"M" :

I find your experience hugely fascinating. Still vaping sans nicotine - very interesting. I quoted your remarks for emphasis. These are important points.

I don't intend to give up nicotine. I'm a thinker and it helps me concentrate, and deal with stress. I've heard it is being studied to treat Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's.

Nicotine is also being investigated for the inhibition of cell apoptosis. This is a legit impetus for nicotine cessation.

But the arbitrary negativity is not supported. Nicotine addiction managed by PV technology in the face of perennial tobacco cigarette use is well indicated. Especially given the history of tobacco for the past five hundred years. The Food and Drug Act was passed by Congress after tobacco was left off the watch list to gain votes from the tobacco states.

No other plant in human history has this character. Nicotiana tabacum stands alone. It's not going to go away, nor should it. It can be enjoyed with care and intelligence.

Collateral for the loan Benjamin Franklin won from France was 5 million pounds of Virginia tobacco. I believe a way can be found to honor this noble plant.

Another way to help is to post here and keep this thread "bumped!" :D

Yes, Kristen,

I did #8. I'm busy with the ninth now. I'm much better in my native Timmah. I'm a performer in public on keyboards (on tour, Lords of the Underworld), and I've been promoting nicPVs at shows. That's mostly #10.

I am not going to go #2. Not now. (!) Am I naive? Perhaps, but you already know my position on "big noobs." The FDA is doing their job. If the present state-of-the-art in "attys" has trace toxic metal deposition in the respiratory tract, I must go, "IMHO," THAT ""situation" ought to be shut shut down in the marketplace. Certainly until makers institute an industry-wide design switch to non-toxic nutrient metal compositions. My fervent hope is that the latter is "the" truth in the state-of-the-art. Certainly, flavors must not be carcinogens, and flavorings be safe. And within reason, the batteries cannot be an explosion hazard. PVs need to be regulated. USP propylene glycol and glycerin are already approved. Suppliers can be appropriately licensed. That part of "the system" works. The best public health is our goal.

Items #1, 3-7:

Nicotine using Americans can confirm with our elected representatives in U.S. Congress, who represent mostly our fellow non-nicotine using citizens, if it is perfectly fine for the minority population of nicotine users to manage our habits in a safe, unobtrusive fashion, by safe PVs. I believe this ancient tomahawk can be buried once for all, to have a good laugh at this stupid debacle, especially for the thrilling conclusion, this can be done with already!

Millions of illnesses that are exacerbated by cigarette smoke, what we call "analog" smoke here at the ECF, will go away in months. I believe the majority wants our nation to be in good health. Isn't this obvious?

I'm pretty sure that in the U.S. today, about 40 plus million Americans have been burning tobacco cigarettes these past few hours to satisfy nicotine cravings. But I believe to enjoy a good nic hit and take the edge off, relax under stress, help concentrate, focus,... chill. It's a bad habit, yet we do it. Yeah? And today now about a million (August 6, 2009, the Washington Times) ex-analog users have been puffing away at PVs - I believe for the same reasons. ("Ah! Now that's a good smoke! And tasty too!"[music])

Dear Congresspeople,

Approve safe nicotine PVs for regulated public consumption.

Thank you.

Signed:

The Nicotine Using Minority
(This includes approx. 8,000 active posters at ECF, soldiers of sanity, the brave vanguard in "The Battle for the Notion." [music])

You know? Isn't this a "stealth no-brainer?"

you go tim ~~~ I too want a safe product, but feel that the FDA has gone way over the "innocent until proven..."

I only emphasize that I am off of nicotine, because for me, it was a natural - very quick - evolution for me when I began using ecigs. My health is so much better, that I want to go up to everyone I see smoking and offer them a 'clean cartridge trial', ha! Also, I feel that it throws another 'iron into the fire' for the FDA, ASH and 'non-smokers' to think about. I just really enjoy vaping and will do what I must to maintain the privilege.

We are all on the same Ban the Ban wagon, eh

Absolutely, m201.

I just finished a Bill Moyers report on the money influence in the election of judges. How depressing.

I'm still gonna continue to believe in justice even if corruption reigns.

I'm glad your health is better and you're off nicotine. Good for you. Good news. Be strong, be happy. Your endorsement of PVs is valued.

Provided PVs are in fact safe and effective, things ought to go well.

I know: Ban the Ban wagon. Good!

Nicely put, Chip.

Sit back? "When in Rome..." Well, I'm gonna do what I can to make safe flavored nicotine PVs the law of the land.

I prefer the Greek democratic idea at its best: I'm working for the votes to get PVs approved for public consumption.

I didn't intend to sound like I'm a lamer who doesn't do any action at all. Of course I do. I've written to my local congresspeople, signed petitions, left comments on published e-cig reports, and more. But the more I looked into the serious legal and media shenanigans, the more I saw just how outnumbered and speck-like we as a group are compared to Big Pharma, Big Tobacco, Big FDA, and their Big Lawyers. I's a very uphill battle for us. So my statement about sitting back and going underground was more of an attitude thing (to keep myself from getting too angry), or an option (should the worst happen with regard to banning or regulation).

I couldn't start a new thread (not enough posts yet), so I thought I'd put my idea here and see who salutes it. ;)

I've only been vaping a couple weeks now, have been analog free almost as long, and love this whole new world that has opened up to me.

As I was watching the Tyra show today, the show was about (again) diets and nutrition. This is a BIG (pun and no pun intended :D) problem in our country. Of course your asking yourself, SO? What does this have to do with e-cigaretts? I'll get to that in a second.

I realized that because I vape now, instead of just quiting analogs, I am not stuffing my face as I would if I went cold turkey. From my searching for DIY flavors lastnight I realized how varied and crazy the different options are out there, I mean come one, bacon, beef, chicken? Who would vape this stuff? 8-o

Then I put it all together in my head!! People eat for 2 main reasons, hunger/to live, and to munch.

Here is my idea: Find a way to promote e-cigaretts as a diet aid!!!
How many people would vape their snacks when on a diet? Zero (0) calories, and of course zero nic if you wish, and ALL the flavors you want!

So am I way off base or do you guys think this would work?

Sounds initially like a great idea, and something no one else on this board has even though of.

Unfortunately, though, even all "diet aids" or any product that makes claims to some type of "health benefit" must seek FDA approval. It would put e-cigs in the same place the FDA is trying to put it in now: "drug-delivery device" or in your case, "diet aid" -- in the FDA's eyes, practically the same thing!

This means the FDA will ban it, and the e-cig will have to go through over 10 years of studies before even considering approval/legality. That is the thing we are all trying to beat by getting e-cigs classified as tobacco products.
