You need the Novice, no gap because the atty is built in. The Ody Dripper is kind of adjustable, depending on how far you screw in the rebuildable piece, the clones should be the same.
I have the Novice, actually. :)

Things I like about it:
  • I love 14xxx mods and I love dripping. The Novice is kind of a match made in heaven for that. :D
  • It's tiny due to the rba being integrated. For the size, it's truly exceptional - it's smaller than my other 14xxx mods with the IGO-S on top.
  • The combination of not having a 510 connector in the mix and the telescoping body pretty much precludes any fit issues regarding connector lengths on mods vs. atomizers and the relative sizes of protected vs. non-protected batteries.
  • I love the draw on the RBA. I also have the Chris Creations Fatty v2 (the standalone version of this atomizer with adjustable airflow), and I actually prefer the non-adjustable wide air slot on the Novice.

Things I like less about it:
  • Primarily the bottom button - it's a bit "fiddly", for lack of a better term.
  • I recently picked up a Sturm v2 mod on the Classifieds (thanks again UA72Riddle!), and that comparison can be a bit rough on the Novice. The Novice body is very similar in design to the Sturm, but the Sturm feels a little more solid and doesn't have the wobbly bottom button issues. That said, it feels "more solid" at least in part because it's bigger and heavier, so it's kind of a tradeoff.
  • This is purely subjective, but I prefer the design of RBAs that incorporate a ceramic cup and combination of R/NR wire. Their flavor seems (to me) at least as good as any type other dripper, I don't really mind joining the R/NR wire, and I like the convenience of the extra liquid capacity over what the Novice can hold.

It's an interesting comparison between the Novice and the Precise Simplicity, because you're spending $100 either way. In the case of the Novice, you get an uberportable mod with a great built-in RBA that eliminates a lot of guesswork and potential for incompatibility. In the case of the Precise Simplicity, you get a slightly more stylish and scuff-proof mod that lacks the RBA but stands out in terms of build quality and has a button that makes me swoon. I'm quite happily using both for now, and I'm thrilled with all the new, affordable, attractive 14xxx mods on the market as of late! :)

My switch got a little flaky on mine, had to spin the button to find a spot with good contact. I took it apart, the screw was super glued in and there was excess glue in the button, if the spring was touching the glue rather than metal it was misfire city. I scraped and sanded the glue of of it. I also flipped the spring over, it had the taper towards the button. This made it a hair stiffer and I haven't had one misfire since the tune up. I'm thinking of getting a brass screw and spring but its doing so good now I might not bother with it.

^Courtesy CB I could also go ahead and pay-up for the Ba Gua finally, Yay!!!

So, by next week I should have both at my hand -- the Brass Ba Gua and the Spheroid v2 (another buy today from member Troy)... this was indeed my lucky day :)

Tell me how you like it with the spheroid - I've replaced mine pretty much completely with my penelopes on slim mods but maybe when the Ba Gua comes I'll rebuild the spheroid and see how she likes it.

The main portion of the Novice is cloning the v1 sturm, which while solid had a tendency towards wobbly button.

The Spheroid looks pretty good on the Bagua. As you can see from the picture above, the diameter is slightly smaller. My Spheroid has a little more texture to it than the finish on my Bagua. Getting this combo to both vent and look right will certainly involve some fiddling, as you have to align the two ventholes in the bottom of the Spheroid with the two air channels in the top cap of the Bagua (which may require adjusting the center post on the Bagua), and then at that point I guess you'd screw with whatever you could to make the engravings line up. The Bagua is pretty adjustable; the Spheroid less so.

I haven't gotten that finicky about it, because right now the issue I'm having with my Baguas is that there's a gap and rattle with my AW IMR 14500 batteries, so I need to figure out how to solve that. Alternately, I could order longer (protected) batteries, but I like screwing with things so I'm more inclined to try to "make it work" first.

If you check out Todd's review on youtube he talks about how he dealt with the rattle in the Ba Gua with the AW IMR.

Quick edit - remember to first adjust the pin from the inside to prevent the battery rattle. Once the battery is seated properly adjust the 510 pin from the top of the unit so it makes contact with your delivery system post.

AW IMR 18650s r known to have minuscule size variations, however I never knew that their 14500s had this issue too. As I understand the Ba Gua's battery tolerance rests at 2.9mm, that is - it could accept battery sizes between 48.2mm to 51.1mm. May I request u to kindly check the actuals and revert back here pls. B'coz that'd help us in buying the right size of battery before the Ba Gua comes in.

Secondly, wont these measures help?
1. Adding Neodymium Disc Magnets on top of the battery, OR
2. Changing the Brass Screw of the positive post.

As my device should be on the way I'm thinking out loud I guess :)

They have adjustable top pins from both the inside and the outside, I don't see why battery rattling should be a problem with an AW IMR - from another site:

"Get the AW-IMR 14500 fits perfect, you get any other brand im sure the fire button will have a gap and to fix the gap, remove the o-ring and the delrin housing from the switch, best route get the AW-IMR 14500 perfect fit. A little bit of adjusting below the 510 connector and youll vape like a sir.."

CB, the top-pin has a tolerance (limit), which'd define the size of battery it could play with. I see that AW IMRs r recommended, but the problem is - 'what if the size of 2 AW IMRs differ?'. I know it does with their 18650s. Typically an AW IMR 14500 600mAh is: 14.07mm (diameter) x 49.25mm (height) +/-0.1mm. Referred HERE.

Now, similarly the 510 pin would also have it's tolerance. Anything more - and the RBA juts out, anything less - and it doesn't make contact with the RBA's +ve pin. Thus, here is the problem.

Reporting back post-adjustment: 100% successful on my SS Bagua; semi-successful on the brass.

I've adusted every adjustable part on the brass one, but there's just no way to get it to make simultaneous contact with my battery and some of my atomizers with (non-adjustable) shorter connections. I bought it from the classifieds and it's obviously been taken apart several times from both ends, so I wonder if maybe the insulator got slightly compacted/warped at some point. I think I'll pick up a pack of those magnets and see if I can't close the gap that way.

I'll be happy to, but unable for another few days as I'm traveling for work.

IMO there isn't any reason to think that a new Bagua wouldn't be adjustable within the tolerance of any AW IMR 14500. One of mine is, and adjusts fine to fit everything from my shortest to longest RBAs with all 10 AW IMR 14500s that I have. The other I bought used, and is a bit screwy with my shortest RBAs, so I'll tweak it until it does.
