I reckon it's a bit different in the South. I have never been charged in a store for a build, EVER. I took my dripper in one day cause my resistance was reading inconsistent. The guy behind the counter jumped into the build and had it done in 5 minutes wicked and all. Not a single penny out of pocket for the build, and it was not a big deal for him. I don't see $15 for a regular dual coil build. That's just my :2c:

It wasn't a big deal to him because the guy knows how to build a coil. I reckon you tipped him for his generous use of his time and effort? Is that different in the South? Up here in the big city we believe in compensating someone who performs a job for you, that's called making a living.
You are apparently in NY where everybody is just used to the business world sucking them dry. Not all of us pay $15 to $25 for $5 to $10 pizza and are used to a much more fair and hospitable way of doing business.

Did I tip the guy who helped me understand nickel coils better? Not a chance. I came back a couple days later and bought an authentic RDA that I could have purchased online for cheaper. Then he one upped me and me a $20 juice for $14 and threw another 30ml bottle of their house juice at me for free as I was walking out. Now I'll be back to buy a Detroit Edition Tugboat V2 by the weekend and a Vapor Shark rDNA in another couple weeks.

I understand not doing it for free but $5 come on. If people were willing to pay I could make $100 an hour for perfect macro, micro, nano and super nanos. Hell ill also wick them for $5 total.

I understand some people have problems with shaking, but if your not 1 all you need to do is practice. I was so bad at building when I started, but jus t kept building until I was always near perfect. Now that my coils are to my exact specs I rarely(2weeks or so) change them. I used to change them twice a day

Ive been doing oil changes since i was 14 years old (23 years and counting). So i dont understand why people pay $100 for oil changes at a dealer.

I'm in GA.... North of Atlanta. We have many vape shops. There's good ones and not so good ones. SteamCigs is Matt Wellman's store. He's the creator of e-pipe mods and a good friend of Zen's. His staff is fantastic and the have an extremely loyal customer base. Never seen them charge anyone for a build. Then there's Vapewares. Also a great shop with great people. Never seen them charge anyone for a build. I will buy gear from them both, rather than saving a couple bucks online because their prices are close...higher, but within reason. I'll support places like these so they can stay around. The gouge shops have a different clientele and I wish em luck. If one of the good places decided to charge for builds, it'd be fine with me...that's up to them. I don't trust anyone to build my stuff though.

You can buy pre-made coils from FastTech for like 7 cents apiece, and they've started carrying lots of the lower-ohm coils, as well, like this:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1/10009432/2209604-pre-coiled-wires-for-rebuildable-atomizers-100

(although I haven't seen any nickel coils!).

Also for winding your own, I would recommend the Artistic Coil Gizmo over the Kuros; add a thumbscrew, wing-nut and couple of washers to secure
the end of the wire.

For winding spaced coils, you can wind them on a machine screw (or on the gizmo). Don't think you can do that on a kuro!

I've never been one for gadgets and gizmos. I've always just wrapped my coils around a drill bit, of whatever size I wanted. But the other day, I picked up a Coil Master, just on an impulse buy. Pretty cool little device, and sure is easier on the fingers.

Never heard of shops over here ( Ireland ) doing coils for people and often wondered why not but I can understand if a shop would charge for it because you could easily end sitting mail coils for free all day long and that would suck.
What price they should charge I guess is debatable but I don't think a tenner is totally unreasonable.
