People talk about 7w on 2.2 ohms and under.. What am I doing wrong?
When I go to 6w I get a metallic taste, then it starts turning to a burnt taste... It doesn't seem to matter what juice I have in it.
I've seen the ohms/volts/watts charts, my settings still seems kinda low vs what is possible.

Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the lack of detail!
Using a Sid in a pro tank mini 2. Coil is a few weeks old. Coils usually last 6 weeks or so.
I dry burned it and it worked well.. I'm probably 3 tanks in since that dry burn. But I have rinsed it out a few times. I'll double check the coil after this tank. Flavor and vapor a&e onpar with ego at 5.5 w. But I want better :)
I'll pop a brand new coil on in the morning and check back in!

Should I be dry burning after every tank?
Always inspect actual coil/wick - pull chimney
Only dry burn as needed
Only dry burn in short burst
Always Rinse after dry burning

After dry burning inspect coil for proper coil to wick contact. Loose coil fit super heats - replace.

Another noob question, what am I looking for when I inspect the wick?

On my dry burn I pulse the button 3 seconds on 3seconds off and blow on the coil. I repeat until the coil glows evenly a few pulses.. Does that sound right? I know if I cook it too hot for too long I'm liable to burn the rubber insulator and permanently taste burnt rubber from the head...

You can get a Burnt Taste ( Dry Hit ) at 2 Watts if you Wick Isn't Providing enough e-Liquid to the Coil.

It's all about Wicking.

Wicking IS the problem..........unless you have blocked the air flow.

Have you changed E-liquids? 70/30 - 50/50/ - 100%Vg ALL different.

There are very few factors that make vaporizing work right or wrong.

Proper Fluid (Our E-liquids) In a viscosity that can be absorbed efficiently by wicking material used.
Wick - Capable of absorbing liquid at a rate high enough to keep coil damp during operation
(BBC wicks) Thick enough to prevent flooding yet thin enough to avoid choking off flow
Coil - Properly fitted to wick and in an ohm range to suit available power
Air Flow - Sufficient to remove vapor and draw enough liquid into wick material to keep coil wet

Does not matter if you prefer 4,6,7 or 15,20,30 watts or whatever Volts all those factors must work in unison to provide a proper vape.

When you have an issue, you study and work each possibility until solved.

Thanks for the input.
I use higher vg juice (40%), I take off the flavor wicks. That worked better for my ego setup, as before I was getting dry hits. It could be that I was not patient enough with the flavor wicks... Thoughts?

I know it's a delicate ballance, an I appreciate the direction you provided!

I'm vaping mpt2 with brand new 2.5 coil (SiD says 2.6 ohm with flavor wicks intact).
Right now I'm loaded up with AVEJuice: C&D.
Working the wattage up from 5.5w .5w at a time (taking a few prime vapes and a few mouth to lung vapes, a little break and a few more vapes at each stop) I've gotten it up to 8.5w (keeping it within the green on the vape wattage charts). 7.5 seems to be the happy spot.
I'll see how it goes the next few days, following suggestions above for inspecting the coil and such.
Thanks again for all the input! The members of this forum are awesome!!

I know everyone doesnt wanna but, I personally wouldnt never use a wick for 6 weeks. Not even a week. Id say about 10ml and its time for a new wick. I dont even bother with dry burning either. Its the only way to get the best performance/best flavor and if you learn to rebuild them cheap. even if you dont, worth it.
