Well, as I posted in that other thread about purchasing an eRoll (for $46.95!), the one I ordered yesterday is already here! CueCigs completely rocks, as far as I'm concerned.

But, I have a couple questions. The first and most important, what's the diff in the 2 chargers? (see below)
erollchargers.jpg

They appear much the same except for their shape, and they both have the USB plug, so I'm not sure what the difference is, or if there is any difference. Can someone advise me?

Also, because I got this thing so quickly, I don't yet have any e-liquid to put in it. I'm planning to go over and visit a B&M near here today, to see if they have anything I like, while I wait for my mail ordered liquids to be delivered, and I'm wondering: is it safe to charge an eRoll with no liquid in it? So that when I do get some, the thing would be ready to use, except for filling the tank? I realize the eRoll goes into the PCC fully assembled, so I thought I'd better ask if it's ok to charge it even with the tank empty.

And in that post I made yesterday, about the $46.95 eRoll and 15% coupon code, they also offer free shipping on orders over $35 -- and it's next day priority shipping! So yeah, CueCigs totally rocks.

Hope someone can answer my questions about the plugs, and charging the eRoll while empty.

Thx!
Andria

Not sure if you got a manual with your eroll, so here is a link to a downloadable manual from Joyetech. Joyetech eRoll Manual

And like chefkeith posted, you should be able to charge your eroll before you get your juice.

As for the chargers, they should have information on them somewhere, like the volts and charging ma's. If those are the same, I would guess the smaller one is more of a travel style and the bigger wall wart is more for home.

You can always charge when empty, I do it all the time. No problems there.

If you look at the imprint plate on the charger (there should be one), it should list input power (US house power in this case, 110 V), and output power--between 4.5 and 5.5 volts, and some number of milliamps.

The milliamp (mA) rating may differ between the two, but that shouldn't be a problem. That's just the maximum capacity, above which the charger won't supply any more power at a time. On the flip side, your plug-in USB charger won't take any more power than it can handle, so there shouldn't be a top limit on the mA allowed on the wall plug in charger side.

In a pinch, I use a much smaller (100 mA) charger to charge a pen style that can accept 200 mA. It doesn't do any harm, it just charges slower--but that's better than letting the third sit around not charging until there's an open spot on my 1,000 mA charger.

You're right, it might be a gift; as I mentioned, I phoned them before I placed the order, about the single cone in the starter kit, and they told me they had an extra, and would include it -- not only did they include an extra cone, but it was already attached to another extra tank, and they even threw in 2 extra atomizers! So maybe they even threw in the extra charger! All this, for a grand total of $39.91!

My only minor gripe is that in the description it said it came with black tanks (I got the silver model, which is the only one they carry -- it's the one I wanted anyway), but the tanks are actually clear, so I'll have to get some black tanks; I just don't care for the look of the clear ones. But hey, that's like $5 -- not a huge deal at all.

Thx for the reassurance about charging it empty -- I just didn't want to destroy it before I even had a chance to try it out. :)

Thx!

Oh, damn, I already ordered a 5-pk from them -- wish I'd known! I actually found a 5-pk of them cheaper at litecigusa, but CueCigs did me such a good deal, I thought it only fair to order from them -- plus they're right here near me, in the same town where my parents live (about 2 towns over), so they'll get here pretty quick -- I found them on that VaporSearchUSA someone gave me a link to, and contacted them on FB, to see if they had an actual store so I could avoid the shipping charge (my husband and I are in that town about twice a month visiting my folks); they're online only, but do offer free shipping on orders over $35, so it worked out.

But I might still PM you my address, if you really don't need 'em. I have no idea if, further down the road, I'll want one of those APV type things, but for now, this thing is about as perfect as I could ask for -- obviously a battery is heavier than paper and tobacco, but with this one, not all that much heavier than a 120mm cigarette.

It really was a great deal, plus all that stuff they threw in for free! They're just nice as everything. Hope they stay in biz!

And hey, I actually have another question about this gizmo. I don't smoke all that often anymore, especially now it's so cold, I try to go out as little as I can get away with -- so that means I don't feel the urge to hit the e-cig all that often either. Once the eRolls are charged, how long will they stay that way, while unused? Do they lose charge over time, or lose it primarily from use? Inquiring minds, you know! :p

Thx!!!
Andria

Hi Andria

Yes - all rechargeables lose charge over time. I can't recall right now what the curve is for Li-On types but they don't maintain a charged state like an alkaline battery does. If you really find yourself using them very little you should still put them on the charger at least once a month for a maintenance charge/topping off to keep them healthy. Li-On batteries aren't healthy batteries if they are allowed to drop below 3.2 volts simply from lack of use.

Nah, they seem to be just alike except the shape of the plastic. And they both appear to work fine.

I smoke more than that, I just don't run outside every half hour/forty-five mins, the way I usually do when the weather is mild or warm -- I tend to go longer between smokes when the temp is either below 45 degrees or above 85 degrees. Tonight it's very damp and chilly, so I haven't wanted to go outside so much, and until I get the other juices, the ones I ordered, I'm still smoking more than vaping. I got that "Oak Barrel Cider" stuff at a local store tonight, and it's very much like the way my cigarettes smell before they're lit, just a touch sweet, and with it being 18mg when I'm used to 6mg cigarettes, a little of it goes a LOOOOOOOONG way! I'm just wondering, they're both charged now, but will they still be, when I wake up tomorrow, er, well it's already tomorrow -- say, in about 8 hrs? :D

Thx!

I hadn't used mine in a month or so, and when I pulled it out for memory's sake, it was still charged. Take that for what it's worth, but they seem to be pretty durable units.

Awesome! So, no surprise that mine still were hanging in there, when I got up, and the PCC's LED glowing green of course, so it's all set for charging the eRolls thru the day. Though right now I'm mainly just trying to accustom myself; when those other flavors finally get here, I'll probably be using the e-cigs a bit more -- even though this "Oak Barrel Cider" tastes the way my unlit cigarettes smell, it's still a little sweet to me (though on the tart rather than sugary side).

Thx,
Andria

Since you got pretty high strength, you have room to dilute it down to cut the sweetness.

Yeah, when I get the 2 I ordered, which are both 12mg, I thought a drop or two of that 'Dirty Ashtray' juice might seriously improve this!

Here's another question, of the "technical" variety: any suggestions on a good doohickey to use when I fill the cartridges? The stuff I got last night has a dropper, and although the dropper tip exactly fits the little hole in the cartridge, it's not a very good dropper, it leaks fluid even when I'm not pressing the bulb, so of course it makes a mess; I end up having to blot the cartridge all over with a paper towel to get rid of the excess, wash my hands 2 or 3 times to get rid of the smell, then use a damp paper towel to get rid of any excess on the body of the eRoll itself. Big pain in the .... Add to that, that I'm 52 yrs old and have to wear my strongest reading glasses just to SEE that tiny little hole, and none-too-steady hands with that leaking dropper, and I really need something else to get these things filled without all this mess and bother. Any suggestions? And please, don't anyone say "get a REAL APV," I got the one I thought suited my needs to find a replacement for cigarettes, and I'm not made of money in any case. Dammit. :)

The 2 I ordered are in 5mL bottles, so I believe I can just fit the cartridge to the tip of the bottle and then turn over to dispense. Should be much simpler than this idiot dropper that pees all over me. :p

Thx!

Until you buy more juice from a vendor who either bottles their juice in the right tip bottle (most have gone to those) or buy an empty bottle with that kind of tip (they're called needle tips,) if you have any feed stores nearby, they sell syringes for about 50 cents a piece. Farmers and ranchers use them to give their stock shots. Somewhere on this subforum I posted pictures of the bottles my Dekang juice, I think, come in... as I said, most vendors have now gone to those bottles but they were scarce back then.

Ugh, forgot... its late.... if you want to pay more or don't want to go to a feed store, I would think the vendor you're buying from carries empty needle tip bottles or syringes. But a syringe from an ecig vendor will run you about 2.50 or 3.00 and they aren't as good. However, they're probably blunt tip which are nice if you're worried about sticking yourself. Hubby and I both have to use needles for medicines so I don't worry about it... unfortunately they aren't reusable or I would never have to buy them for ecigs.

Hmmm... might be some feed stores within reasonable distance, we're not too terribly far from some much more rural areas.

My husband suggested Harbor Freight Tools; he said they have a tool for *everything*, including teenytiny funnels; they do have not just regular "tools," but also some stuff for crafts, airbrushing, I think even some stuff for building models, so they just might. Or maybe I'll just get some empty bottles, since this Oak Barrel Cider is in a 30mL bottle, and I *am* thinking of mixing it with the other flavors I'm getting. It would probably be much easier to do that in a bottle, than in the tiny cartridges.

Thx!

These are the smallest size I have... easier taking a picture... but they come in every size you could want except really big like 4 oz.

Left to right
Mountain vapor
High Desert Vapes
Hangsen... many vendors
Mr E Liquids
Dekang... many vendors

They all fit the Eroll hole and work in every clearo I have including Joye CCs. After you buy a few and use up what's in the bottles, you can just keep refilling them with whatever juice you want. That's what I do... probably have 30 in different sizes... as I haven't found them available for sale empty other than wholesale (over a hundred bottles.. guess the vendors buy those) anyway, I prefer them because they have caps. The usual empty needle nose bottles you buy from vendors have slip on rubberish tops and being that they slip on they also slip off... okay for home but definitely not for carrying around.

Excellent point; at the moment I'm still smoking more than vaping, but I do expect that to change, once I get some flavors I like better. And although I'm *usually* very hermit-like, we do visit my parents monthly, and spend the whole day with them, so once I'm vaping regularly, I'll definitely need something I can take with, when I'm out of the house for that long a time.

Thx!

Its been mentioned numerous times in various forums, but take a look at the Innokin Ucan. Its a quality stainless steel tank with a needle tip and a pump action, perfect for filling mini tanks. Has o-ring seals, absolutely will not leak if tightened properly, and holds 10ml, more than enough for a day for most vapers ...

You can refill an eRoll tank with 3 or 4 squirts from the Ucan, pop the tank back in, and vape again before the atomizer even cools off ... :D
