I've been playing with these fill lines and am having the best luck with the: hmmm... from the bottom up with it upside down, there are two line on the outside you can feel with your finger nail.. one up from there, there's another line that you can't feel and that's where I've been filling it to. It is below the bottom of the tabs so maybe I'm not filling enough now but its working great. Haven't had another leak.

Here is a tip that I read somewhere and that I always follow. After fitting the new refilled tank, take a couple of puffs before putting it in your bag or pocket. That helps to create a vacuum in the system and prevent any leaking.

Hope that helps, however my eRoll hasn't ever leaked, so I can't say for sure that it is a useful tip! Anyway one more thing to try

Good luck

Thank you both! I am going to try both of your tips. I have been so crazy busy lately that I haven't been using my eRolls much the last few days (no time to prep my backup tanks, charge everything up, etc in the evening). That should change after today.

I *really* appreciate all of the help and suggestions in this thread, and it gives me renewed faith in the eRoll. If you all have yours working well I can too.

Guess I should update people on the status of my issue, I ordered emini tanks from Ovale (the original designer of the eRoll) and my leaking issues seem to be in the rear view mirror now. I had a leak the other day, but I think it was due to an old tank still in rotation.

When I ordered from Ovale I bought a 5-pack of black tanks and a 5-pack of clear tanks. The couple leaks I've had since are clear tanks and I am pretty sure they're from old tanks that were not purchased from Ovale (wish I'd just marked my old tanks and/or thrown them away). The black tanks (which I know are Ovale) have not leaked at all.

I knew the second I snapped on my first Ovale tank that everything was going to be okay. It fit so much more solidly. It snapped into place firmly and wasn't loose-ish like the other tanks I'd been using.

I'm really curious where people bought their tanks since many said they've never had a leak.

The Ovale tanks and the other tanks looked almost identical. I was able to note some tiny differences between the two and thought of trying to take pics to post, but the differences were so subtle that I wasn't sure I could capture them with my camera.

Sounds like there have been some improvements. It's pretty likely that the tanks all come off the same line somewhere. It's probably the luck of the draw whether you get older stock or newer when you place an order. I have four boxes of what I am assuming are the older style and they all tend to leak a bit and don't fit particularly tightly. They slip on easily with no "snap".. I did see an article recently where the author accused Joyetech of ripping off and manufacturing the original design of the eRoll, which he claims was developed by Ovale and contracted to Joytech for the manufacturing. He went on to say that Joytech brands and sells the stuffbthat may not meet quality control standards by Ovale.. I'm sorry but I don't have a link to the article. I did find it somewhere in this forum. I have no idea if this is actually true and doubt there is really that much difference between the same product marketed under two names. We're talking about a bunch of tiny mass produced pieces that are probably sub'd out to a variety of different manufacturers.

Since I posted, I've used more tanks and it does seem that those that don't snap do leak some. I didn't realize there was a difference until I broke into my second box... both clear and black ones. When I say "snap," I do mean snap. First putting one on, I have to press it down on a hard surface to get it snapped in. Some are easier but still snap. The ones that don't snap I'm not even sure they're in place or will stay in place. When I do get one that leaks, its just after being newly filled and I've solved it by removing the tank and stove piping a while. Then I put it back on and there are no leak problems after that until its empty. Maybe not filling all the way would solve it but I can't be bothered with that and just fill them all the same way and stove pipe when needed.

Hey misterholidayhouse, I know the article you're talking about, I read it just yesterday. Like you said though, it could be luck of the draw, I'm a bit leery now. I purchased a 5-pack of tanks with my kit and purchased a 5-pack from another vendor after that, so I that's a lot of bad tanks. Then again, could have just been crazy odds.

Hey patkin, I know exactly what you're talking about with the snapping. You can hear a distinct snap and have to apply some pressure to get the tank on. It's reassuring because you can see that it's not going to loosen and leak.

What is this "stove pipe" action that you are performing? I am not familiar with that.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I emailed Ovale support before getting my tanks and asked them how far the tanks can be filled without causing leaks and they said that you can fill the tank all the way without causing leaks. They said that leaking would be caused by "strong draw, placing the emini [eRoll] in the charging case upside down, or an excessively loose tank."

LOL... I so didn't know that's where it came from. I learned it here from drippers. LOL Hmmm... maybe I'll just cut the lingo and describe from now on. Too funny.

Thanks J_Gundy for passing on that info. I agree with it. The first time I got a leak was in my PCC and the batt was upside down. I've wondered why we do that anyway. I do it because I saw it in a video review by... oh, crap, what's her name? the Canadian gal... anyway, the blue light goes off so I know the battery has a cutoff. I guess its just a precaution? And I got a leak when my atty needed cleaning.. hard draw and, of course, now know about loose tanks... so they covered it well. I appreciate their honesty. Thanks again.

Edit: Just read my "stove pipe" post. I should have explained what I meant by "when needed." I do it when the draw gets hard as that's the first sign its probably going to leak. I just remove the tank and draw until all the excess juice is gone from the atty. So far, it prevents a leak. Sometimes it amazes me how much juice is in that atty... I guess, technically, I'm doing the same thing as dripping then.

I know I'm way late on this thread but I just wanted to say thank you all for the tips. I just got my eRoll a few days ago and these are really helpful tips. I have had a small leak a couple of times but that stopped after the first day and I would really appreciate filling tips, the only way I've succeeded at filling it is with a needle and syringe, otherwise I've just made a mess.

Probably already been mentioned, but the best way ive found to fill them is using one of these

0000276_10ml_empty_e_liquid_bottle_300.jpeg

If there's ever any liquid that comes out the end of the cone once i push back in the tank, i always just wipe it on my trousers, and always ensure the outside of the tank is dry each time i refill

Using older tanks too will make them more prone to leaking, as the holes loosen up after a lot of use, so just using a new tank every 3 weeks or so (depending on how often you refill) seems to do the trick in keeping it sealed

I never thought of this until recently taking my erolls out. Changing elevations seems to make mine leak. I took six fully assembled ones with me and they all leaked and had not before that. Its really weird because I haven't thought of the eroll as a pressurized system. There's, obviously, something I don't understand about the way they work as I would never have thought reversing the batt in the PCC would make it leak from the cone seam but it does (as Joye has said it would).
